Toni Terry: Dressage Debut

Abigail Clancy and Toni Terry

The always lovely always classy Toni Terry is currently in training to appear in an equestrian event at the end of the year. She plans on making her dressage debut at the Olympia Horse Show in London in December.

She’s been training with national champ Vicki Thompson to get her in shape for the event.

As we all know, Toni is of the classic WAG type: get in there early and ride it out for the win. She helped to support hubby John when he was in Chelsea’s YTS scheme on her wages as a beauty therapist and is still his biggest supporter now. She says she’s itching to start something of her own now:

“I’ve always worked and I feel strongly about having my own career. That only ended when I fell pregnant. I’ve tried to avoid the spotlight. I am exceptionally proud of John – what he has achieved since he was 17 is amazing…

But now the children are more grown up I can exert myself a bit. Before I felt I was John’s wife and a mum first and foremost. Now I think I have something to say – especially about the equestrian world. My aim is to get to the top levels of dressage. I don’t just want to be known as John’s wife but also as a working mum.”

Good stuff. We’re actually terribly excited about seeing how cute Toni looks in her jodpurs and riding boots. Roll on December!

Wait, lovely girl and her husband is a very close friend to my Frankie, but I don’t get a thing..equestrian is a quite close world, and to be at the top,you must have been competing for ages, the ones at the top now started about 10,15years ago,how does it come that this lovely girl is suddendly boosted to the top??Until yesterday I didn’t know about all this love for horses,I’ve seen Jordan riding often but not Toni, now she is a top horserider???Weird

She is not yet a toprider. Which you can only become when you show years and years of dedication, sweet and tears. She is going to debut an trying to get to the highest level.
But I hope for her she knows that when you want to be at the top, you are always out training or riding events. Not much time to raise children.

yes, this is what I meant..I know that people have to work hard to perform at events such Olympia,I may have missed something but I've never heard of her having hard training to become an horserider, now she goes there to perform with people that have given a life to the sport?is not fair…

  3. She looks lovely.. And classy. That’s so hard to come by these days.

  4. Avenath says:

Good that one of the WAGs is thinking about her career…good on you, Toni!

  5. Johnna says:

Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for giving me some Toni. I’ve had a horrible day and this has more than made up for it. I just love her so much (everyone here knows this) but everytime I hear how down to earth she is, I just love her even more. Though I wish she would go back blonde.

  6. Elise says:

The linked article from the Mirror is fantastic. I already really like her, but now I like her even more. At least as much as I can like anyone who is married to John. *dies a little inside, but pulls self together* She seems really down to earth, really genuine, and the way she describes their life is exactly the way I've always imagined it. I wish her all the best with her dressage career.

  7. Carla says:

Horse riding is a career, dressage is very difficult to do. Toni has always been interested in horses, her dad also rides. She only gave up horse riding due to the twins, but now they are older she has got into it especially dressage. I hope she does well

  8. tammyv says:

    Is horse riding a career?

  9. carly says:

    Wait, Jordan does that too?

    I'm not so impressed then…

  10. carly says:

Wow, I must say I never liked Toni but I'm impressed!!

  11. FootballerChick43-&q says:

    Good luck, Toni!

  12. Merel says:

Good luck with it Toni! But top dressage? That is hard because then you will face Anky, Edward with his Totilas (If one footballer could have the talent that horse has, it would be the best footballer ever miles away), Isabell and Adelinde. Good luck with it.

But anyway, I hope for her she’ll do good. Horse riding is the greatest sport and it’s so amazing to do. She has the money.

  13. I want her husband. Right now

  14. Baby Freya says:

I can’t wait to see this…I hope she doesn’t murder equestrianism like Jordan did! I don’t quite understand why riding horses has suddenly become the ‘in’ thing for WAG’s and models…if you have boobs then trotting it hurts, you need muscle and you need nerves of steel to get on a horse that could quite easily kill you but good luck to her and I hope she does well!

  15. FirstTeamCoach says:

Oh she can become bestie friends with Jordan, that will be fun to see. I did not realise the children were all grown up ! Have I been asleep for 15 years?

  16. Fer_Lahm says:

Aw Toni is the perfect WAG she looks always adorable

Btw, I can see Abbey’s bra

  17. I didn't even know she was into dressage! Oooh, now my entire body is itching, I miss it, I miss it so much. Jesus. Can I join you Terri? I'll be your PA.

  18. Carla says:

She looks stunning in the picture on the Mirror site. She seems so sweet and down to earth. Looking forward to seeing her in December

  19. Julia says:

She's so sweet: the type of wag i totally adore.
