Bundesliga Bits: Mario, Marko and Mueller

We don’t pay nearly enough attention to the Bundesliga, do we? Let’s quickly touch base with the boys that hit the pitch in Germany and see vas ist los:

The Green White Night
Werder Bremen recently celebrated the club’s 111th birthday at the Congress Centre in Bremen.

As you take note of Petri Pasanen, Clemens Fritz, Torsten Frings, Daniel Jensen and Markus Rosenberg’s fine fashion choices, please also take note that we can’t find photos of their dates/significant others. Why would they tease us like this?

Victoria Beckham: The Shoes Have It

While we think that VB looks all kinds of fabulous shopping up a storm in Milan yesterday (in a classic Chanel jacket and Jil Sander pants), we’re in major covet on the shoes. Oh, those Louboutin ‘Maggie’ pumps are so very swoon-worthy.

Victoria must be as enamoured with them as us, as they’ve graced her feet on several occasions; at the theatre with her boys, and strolling around London looking fabulous in that same Chanel jacket.

Sure, her transatlantic travel carbon footprint makes the ice-caps weep, but at least Victoria is doing her part by recycling some staple items. Well done, Posh!

Also in Milan (of course), David and their boys looking like Adidas threw up on them.

Sports Illustrated: Footy WAGs in Body Paint

Men across the universe were up early today eagerly waiting for the postman to arrive with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2010. Oh, who are we kidding: no one gets mail anymore, the testosterone-filled masses have probably been hitting refresh on SI.com since 23.59 last night.

Why is this news for us? As reported a little while ago, the magazine is featuring footy gals for the first time. They’ve done a body-painting special with England’s Abigail Clancy (Crouchie), Germany’s Sarah Brandner (Schweini), American Bethaney Dempsey (Clint Dempsey) and Italy’s Melissa Satta.

Hang on. Bobo’s gal got this gig?

We’re not trying to take away from Melissa Satta’s moment here, and she does look smashing in the SI shoot, but just to comment on the obvious: this was the magazine’s choice for a bikini-ready Italian WAG? For a start, Christian Vieri doesn’t even play anymore, and there is a massive selection of sexy Italian WAGs ready, willing and able to pose in their skivvies. They’re practically doing so every week anyway.

Top marks to Sarah, Bethany and of course Abigail looks a stunner, but not as relaxed-sexy as we’ve seen her in other shoots.

Have a gander at the gallery and tell us which WAG you think looks the best. Our grumbling vote goes to Melissa; she stands out a mile in these shots.

Saturday

- We pegged Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli as Serie A’s answer to Jermain Defoe. His three-month commitment to Barbara Guerra is over. He’s already been spotted healing his wounds with a short brunette.

- Danielle Lloyd announced her plans to wed Jamie O’Hara in May or June of this year.

- Gerard Pique delivered a yummy video thanking everyone for the birthday wishes posted on FC Barcelona’s Official Facebook page. He turned 23 on February 2 and really showed his gratitude by offering us a brief peek at what he’s got going on underneath his kit.

- Reports claimed the miscarriage suffered by Maradona’s girlfriend was due to a hard fall at home.

David Bentley: Folicular Fail

Please, David. Take whatever advice Jermain Defoe is giving you. Shave it, cut it, trim it, or even just invest in a decent dry shampoo. It’s time to address this and move from the denial stages of this problem.

Iker Casillas: The Exit Needs Work

Well, what do we have here?

Spanish gossips are reporting a potentially uncomfortable morning-after walk-o’-shame situation involving our favourite goal-keeper, Iker Casillas. While the whole, factual truth of this rendezvous –  including the chica’s identity -  is not available for public consumption, Iker’s sheepish look of guilt has us in a tizzy speculating the endless possibilities of this early afternoon gathering.

Is she his lead PR rep? A beard-groomer? The local Avon lady pushing the company’s newest shimmer-kiss lip balm?

Regardless, we think Iker needs a little coaching in avoiding detection by the press/friends/family/current lovers thing. Here’s a few pointers, luv:

Baby Debut: Robert Ronan Keane

Yes, this photo of Claudine Keane and 8-month-old baby Robert is as fantabulous as you think it is:

- he is wearing an itty-bitty checked shirt and baby denim
- his little round bubba face is completely made out of butter, marshmallows and down pillows
- Claudine’s ring(s) are the same size as the baby

In this week’s Hello! Magazine, Claudine talks about her relationship with hubby Robbie (who headed off to Celtic on loan recently):

“Rob and I have been lucky so far, and when you’re happy in your relationship you never foresee any trouble. You hear these stories in every walk of life: it could just as easily be a banker as a footballer…

I think we are very normal and we have our own things going on. Obviously we do nice things on occasion, because of the job, but most of the time we’re at home watching EastEnders and chilling out with our baby.”
