World Cup Netherlands v. UruguayNetherlands v. Uruguay World CupBoy, the Dutch sure do like to touch.

Rightfully so, following their 3 – 2 victory over Uruguay tonight. Through to their first World Cup final game since 1978, they’ll probably party instead of anxiously waiting to see who they will face from tomorrow’s Germany-Spain semifinal. At least, that’s what we would do.

World Cup NetherlandsFrom the looks of their contortionist-like skills , we believe the Dutchies would put up a mean Twister fight that would (hopefully) tie us all up in knots.

Congrats guys!

Can’t we get at least a few shots of Diego Forlan’s torso as a consolation?

  2. elylovesfootball says:

i'm so happy for them!!! can't wait to watch the final

  3. cornelle. says:

Hup Holland Hup! I’m so excited my team is in the World Cup final. And I hope Germany will win today. Btw, any pictures of Netherlands WAGS, Kickette?

  4. Dutch89 says:

Am so proud of Holland i really hope they win the WC this year, a final against Germany would be fabolous, but this time oranje will win…fingers crossed!

What a year Sneijder and Robben are having, they are unstoppable :) ohhh and i cant forget DIRK KUIJT this guy plays his socks off, i really do admire his will power and everything I love them all, hup holland hup :)

  5. Zlatanista says:

I have to congratulate Holland, very well done!! But i was hoping for Uruguay…

I hope my luck changes tonight. Go La Roja!!!

  6. Lisa says:

I need help. I find myself daydreaming about… Bert Van Marwijk. Why couldn’t it be Diego Perez or Mauricio Victorino?

    • Irishgirl says:

Ah i do too! Hes a very handsome man ;)

      • Lisa says:

whew! glad to see I’m not the only one. BVM is a combination of my two favorite things: silver foxes and dutch men. You know half the challenge of managing the Holland NT is dealing with difficult personalities. Bert must doing something right for Holland to get this far. That just makes him more attractive. And when did Khalid Boulahrouz start looking so good? At the last World Cup he looked like Marv from Sin City (and played him too) but now he looks different. He’s either had work done or maybe it might be my beer goggles talking.

        • Irishgirl says:

Lisa i think we me may be separated at birth lol as i also both love silver foxes and dutch men (frank and ronald de boer, marco van basten, I could go on!!!) and its combined in the hotness that is Bert :) and yes the cool, calm, confident approach just makes him even hotter ;)

          p.s. also love his suits!!!

  7. Jo says:

I’m hoping that the remaining semifinal is as exciting as this one. It was an open match with great chances and nail-biting tension. This is why I can still enjoy the WC, despite having my team eliminated.

Oh, and how does Van Bommel get away with those challenges [v. Brazil and Uruguay] without a booking? Seriously, the man must have an invisibility cloak.

  8. Lola says:

I know he’s kind of “mature” but can I get some dish on Marco Van Basten?..

  9. freddiegirl says:

My dad’s parents are from Rotterdam so I’m quite happy to see them go through. I was glad they beat Brasil. Congrats to the Dutch; Sniejder and Robben were both fabulos in this tournament. And a fond farewell to Diego Forlan; he had a fantastic tournament and Uragauy did well; they have nothing to be ashamed of this tournament. As for the handball…well…it happens and most players would try to get away with it if they could.

  11. Mona says:

That really was a tremendous match! The defense was sick, the saves were unbelieveable, and all 5 goals took my breath away! I will miss seeing Forlan since he is so so handsome – the way he stands, and his mane, and the way he lines up when his kicks- ay…. Anyway, good luck to Sneijder & Co. He and Robben are have SOME YEAR!!!

I know we're all rah-rah WC, but is anyone else kind of missing their regular season European team? I miss MILAN and I don't know how we're going to get along with Leonardo. Mostly because the team is just a touch uglier now…I hope Leonardo gets Dunga's job PRONTO!

    • Mona says:

*without Leonardo* (My pillow is still a bit soggy from when he AMICABLY left).

  12. missd says:

I honestly don't understand people who say they'll refuse to watch the final if Spain loses. I mean, I'm all for lusting after players – it's amusing and fun – but I genuinely love the game too. I'd never miss watching a WC final. Germany have been playing some of the most exciting, attacking football of the tournament (and they're not even my second team). They really deserve their current success.

    • VeNia says:

you may be right but I have a past with the German NT and since Uruguay is not going either, well maybe I'll see it for the Dutch…idk…

      • missd says:

That’s okay, I think we all have grudges and they’re not always logical. (I have a Uruguay one that’s hard to shake, although I think Forlan has been pure class in this WC). If Spain lifts their game and wins then I will be happy but if they fall apart then it will be a real shame. This young German team has been really impressive and exciting.

  13. Zadrii says:

    Noooooooooooooooo… =’(
    This was so sad!
Everyone ganged up against Uruguay, just because of Suarez’s epic/ heroic hand ball sava against the “poor little” Ghana. People thought that Ghana deserved to win when really they didn’t. They deserve food, water, and good living conditions, but they don’t deserve to win. Now everyone hated Uruguay.

Maybe I’m just bitter because I hate the Netherlands to the depths of my soul after they beat my Brazil, but all I know now that I’m rooting for Germany. Or Spain… Actually, I could care less, as long as the Netherlands looses! =D Which I am confident they will…

    • aristeia says:

I didn’t feel that way about Uruguay at all. Either team could have gotten through, they both played good tournaments & deserved it (lol, despite your hatred of the Netherlands).

    • Amanda says:

      I’m with you!

Plus, Suarez’s hand ball? Fuckin’ brilliant! hahaha

I bet he got out of the field thinking: “that red card was SO worth it!”

  14. Violets says:

    Yay Fighting Pumpkins!!

Oh wait, Netherlands. Sorry, I got confused.

    • Mona says:

Seriously! My retinas are burning! Anyway, I"m proud of Oranje. No matter what anyone thinks, this team has earned their place.

  15. juventina says:

I am so not happy with this result. My poor pretty Uruguay. Spain better win tomorrow or else Im not watching the final, there will be nothing to look at because VDV has been playing left bench anyways. Plus, I wouldn't like either team in the final. Fail.

  16. Eebza says:

it was great!!!! :D so glad the dutch won!!!!
yeah… im so nervous about tomorrow too…

  17. vickyvivot says:

i don’t understand what is going on with Cristiano Ronaldo, take a look at this pics
ah and he has black nail polish on his toes!

  18. aristeia says:

DIRKIE I'M SO PROUD OF YOU! <3 So exciting! A newbie team has a 50/50 chance of winning the WC!

  19. Pam says:

Go Oranje!! The 1974 final is gonna be repated again between Holland-Germany, but this time Holland will win! I'm a little sad Huntelaar didnt get any playing time.

  20. Blackwood says:

I really, really hope they win. Even when not playing at their best, they seem to have some weird kind of magic that makes them score. I just hope Germany loses tomorrow, or against Holland. Any team whose coach eats his own boogers in public does not deserve to win a World Cup. Sorry, I know it's extremely biased and unobjective, but I can't help but thinking that. I'm grossed out.

  21. Lil' Red says:

:( ((( soo sad! i really wanted Uruguay to win.

does anyone else think that fernando muslera (uruguay keeper) is attractive? I was watching him and his 6'3'' goodness all game :)

    • Johanna says:

I see him as a cute kid because he has this innocent baby face. I felt bad for him in this game since he was vulnerable out there without Lugano's defense. Caceres had a hell of game! It was nice seeing him there. Anyway, Holland won and they are most likely the strongest to win it all.

    • aristeia says:

He's a wonderful, classy, talented professional. And that's saying a lot coming from me as I violently hate the club team he plays for. He's the only player on that team I completely respect. Hope some big club nabs him & rescues him, so his club career can flourish. :)

    • Mrs.DiegoForlan says:

oh yes! i always thought muslera was rather cute…i'm also sad about uruguay :(

oh well…hoping the winner of spain/germany can win the final, as i love both teams equally :)

    • Lisa says:

he is really cute. I have yet to find a bad photo of him. Oh Uruguay. So much hotness, so much sadness. Poor babies need comforting right now. Free hugs for everybody. Unfortunately I think the hotness/sadness combo is gonna be off the charts when Germany get done with Spain tonight. Its a shame really. I love Spain but Germany has been the best team in the tournament so far.

      • VeNia says:

you never know…I'm betting Spain win!Plus, the booger eating coach they have doesn't stand in front of Del Bosque…as I said you never know!:D

and I find Muslera pretty cute thank you!:D

    • Briel says:

I’ve been finding myself attracted to Muslera for a while, but I thought I was the only one! I’m kind of glad the Netherlands won, but I felt so bad for Uruguay… they fought well even to the last second.

    • Mrs. Muslera says:

Oh Yeeeeees!!!!! FERNANDO IS SOOOOOOO CUUUUTE!!!!! SOOOO TALL SO HANDSOME!!!!!! I LOVE HIM SOOO MUCH!!!! I thought that I'm the only one but I'm so glad to see that there's a lot of other girls who thinks he's cute.=)=)=)=)=)=)=)

    • PinkLlama says:

Yeah, I found him cute as well :) in a sort of boyish way.
I did not enjoy the game at all, found it rather boring since I don’t really feel anything for either teams. I kind of felt sorry for Diego Forlan, he worked so hard all the time, he so much better than the rest of the Uruguay team. His goal was one of the best I’ve seen this World Cup, I hope he can can fight for the golden boot or whatever it is called.

  22. missd says:

Hup Holland hup! I'm so relieved. The best team won. I'm hoping Germany go through so we can see a historic re-match of the famous 1974 final. The Netherlands are the best country never to have won a World Cup. Third time lucky? Fingers crossed.

  23. Inés says:

    I hate it!

I wanted my country to win! we deserved it. the referee was a complete joke!

  24. stephanieee says:

i wouldn't mind playing a little game of twister with the dutchies either. especially if it means getting a little tied up in between wesley, van persie and van der vaart. brb while i daydream some more about this scenario.. thanks kickette!

  25. Angharad says:

Who is that carrying Sneijder upside down? Oh, you silly Dutch boys.

  26. KW says:

As a neutral I'd love to see the Dutch win the World Cup, they say 3rd time is the charm :) . Hup Holland Hup!

  27. senora ramos says:

oh well, now i go back to not liking forlan.

but SO EXCITED for the netherlands!! congrats!!!

dead nervous about tomorrow. i need a drink.

    • Thea says:

      Make mine a double!!!

    • Zlatanista says:

I need several!! I have explained to my two little boys and my husband, who is not that into football, that mummy donĀ“t want to be disturbed tonight and that i might act a little strange.

      Oh god! This is torture!!

      • Zlatanista says:

I just like to add that i have a very, very, understanding husband :) .

      • Lisa says:

I don't know about your two little boys but I would be honored to have you as a mother. And what is up with your hubby? You sound like every man's dream wife!

        • Zlatanista says:

Thank you! I´m not sure i deserve that much praise :) . My husband is more into music, but he enjoys a good game of football. He´s just not obsessed, like me :) .

        • senora ramos says:

glad my hubby isn’t the only one. i am waaaaaaaay more obessed than he is. i am teaching the little one (he’s 2) to love “soccerball” like he calls it. wine from the roija region is on tap tonight! and maybe some sparkling spanish wine to celebrate the victory. or maybe a mimosa right now to take away some of the stress. ahhhhhh, i can’t take the stress!!!!!!

          • Zlatanista says:

You will be pleased to know that my 3 year old has turned from adoring Messi, to totally identifying with Ramos. They both have long hair… I don´t know what would happen if Ramos cut his, god forgive.

            • senora ramos says:

lol! well they are both great, great players. i really wish messi would've got a goal before i went back to disliking him :)

i've decided if sergio's hair is too bad (still praying he doesn't cut it) that memo will be my main crush until sergio stops the madness and grows out his hair :D

              vamos espana!!!!!

              • Zlatanista says:

lol, i guess there will be some disliking when that time comes.

Now, the cava is on ice! Let the soccerball begin!

              • senora ramos says:

anyone else feel like their stomach is tied in knots right now, or is that just me :S

  28. Iris says:

Still can't believe it. So proud! :D

  29. MEER. says:

How wild is this? Man, I still can't believe it. After the 1-1, I was such a pessimist, but the 3-1 brought tears to my eyes. The last 10 minutes were horror but in the end… We made it! World Cup Final; Here come The Dutch!

The Netherlands vs. Germany: Yes, please!

    • missd says:

Oooh, I know… Netherlands v Germany. Wouldn’t that be crazy? I like Spain but the history and emotion between these two particular teams is incredible. As a longtime football fan it would be great to see them do battle, especially since I wasn’t even born when they last met in the final.

  30. Syrian! says:

HUP HOLLAND HUP :d aaaaa I was sooo hapyy omg I got so nervous in the last few minutes BAAAAAAAAAAAh holland through

  31. VeNia says:

uuuuhhhh i wanted Uruguay to win!!!oh well, now my hope goes to Spain!!!if they don't go through either, then i'm not even seeing the final!!!

pleazzzeeeee i beg you spain win!!!!Put Llorente in stead of Torres(this is told by a Torres fan!)and everything will be just fine…

    P.S.not sleeping tonight…so nervous 'bout tomorrow…

  32. VeNia says:

why would you say that?I just wanted Uruguay to go through but I don't mind very much that Holland got through and since I am Greek I have a 100% right to not like the germans because of Merkel!:D just kidding I just love Spain!:D

  33. VeNia says:

Plus,if I watch the final, which I may not because i'm going to be on a plane that time, and if spain doesn't go through then I support the Dutch!here you happy now?:D
