Andre Villas-Boas: A Special Job For A Special Guy

Er… could someone direct me to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, please? I have much business to attend to. Image: Getty Images/Daylife.

And so it came to pass that Andre Villas-Boas, former Prince of Porto and famed victor at the Battle of the Europa League, was sought out by the mythical Lord Abramovich to lead his ravaged army.

The young pretender has much to prove in the highly competitive and unpredictable land of the EPL, but Abramovich seems convinced of his new charge’s pedigree as rightful heir to the ‘Special’ Chelsea throne.

We can only hope his faith is better placed than last time.

  1. one tree hill dvd is a good introductory the hills dvd for the beginner.I used to take disney 100 years of magic dvd lessons when I was about 15 years old. Learned golden girls dvd and could play a few the office dvd. I would recommend this the king of queens dvd for any beginner married with children dvd player.

  2. Very, very, very hot! More article's about Andre please! He is the same age as many players. I think it's kind of pathetic that Jose has completely blanked Andre as soon as he got the Porto job out of pure jealousy. Jose didn't congratulate Andre on winning the Portuguese league, cup, of Uefa Cup when practically all the other high profile managers in the game were quick to praise him and his team. I think it says more about Jose than Andre. Everyone knows how petulant and spiteful Jose can be at times and it will be interesting to see if he says anything about Andre getting the Chelsea job. I doubt it. I think people are willing to forgive Jose his bad behaviour as he is so good looking, but at least Andre is a nice guy.

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

Wow! a) I don't think there was an occassion that Jose was asked about Villas in the first place to speak about him b) after the UEFA ban, party much Jose didn't talk to anymedia or conference, he had ONLY ONE interview and no-one has asked him about VIllas, he won't randomly speak about him.

I think you are over-reacting, did you hear Van Gal sending congraluation to Jose every time he wins publicly, he doesn't have to do it you know!

  4. Slave4Mou says:

I hope Abramovich doesn't eat him alive. I hope he does great things with Torres.

  5. Rosa says:

He's same age as Drogba and Lampard. It'll be interesting to see how he keeps all these egos in check. He's handsome and I wish him well.

  10. Miss Lampard says:

I don't believe that I'm saying that but thank you very much Roman Abramovich, so I know that just few months ago I complained with him 'cause he sacked a top successful manager like Carlo Ancelotti, but OMG girls this man is the hottest manager that I've ever seen…I can see my better days that are coming quickly, I will never miss a game of my boys!

  11. nita says:

  14. JA7 says:

He's cuuuuuuteee, though roberto mancini is my all time fave manager :P Abramovich better give him a chance though!

  15. CC Bloom says:

He looks like Xabi Alonso and Pep Guardiola’s yummy love child.

  16. xandra says:

definitely the hottest manager around. swoon.

  17. IrishBlue says:

Hellooooooo Andre! Hottest manager in the Premier League, although not much competition for that title……Arsene? Welcome to the club, if he does a great job managing Chelsea while looking as hot as that, I'll be a happy girl :D

  18. EspePique says:

I just hope that Abramovich will give Villas-Boas time to develop his own team and let him stay for a while.

  19. LindaTuga says:

So proud to be Portuguese. 2 of the hottest managers!! haha (But Pep Guardiola, u will be forever my favourite, guapo! :) )

Good luck to Villas Boas. I just hate all the comparison to Mourinho. Although I know it is inevitable, Andre is is own person ans I hope the pressure is not too much for him.

Bring on August please. Can't wait for the Premier League to start. I miss footie…terribly :( .

  20. LisaB says:

The one down side is that we will never be able to watch an epic UEFA Super Cup match between Barca and Porto; not to mention seeing world football's two hottest young coaches on the same sideline!

As a football fan, it's exciting to be able to follow him now week in week out. In my part of the world the only way to follow Porto was on highlight shows and the occasional Europa League match (thank goodness they won it!).

I not a Chelsea supporter but I wish AVB all the best and hope his success inspires many more smart and handsome Iberian managers.

  21. cupcakes says:

AVB did a fabu job at Chelsea already as Jose's fact-gathering underling from 2004-2007, providing mind-blowingly detailed dossiers on shafting the opposition so I have much hope! I just pray Roman Abramovich gives him time, instead of blasting him into space on a diamond-powered rocket (or whatever it is that Bond villains use these days) the moment he's displeased with a signing/result/being-one-of-the-100+-European-clubs-that-doesn't-win-the-Champions-League-in-any-given-year.

And if he could find a system of playing Torres that involves our £50m striker actually scoring a goal, that would be most appreciated!

  22. jessie says:

Scary….he looks like a reincarnation of Mou….check that expression..

  23. Janet says:

Oh Andre….it's going to be so weird seeing you not at Porto…on the bright side, this does mean you'll be more accessible to my TV viewing.

  24. footballandme says:

He's got the wind-swept hairstyle going on.

    Damn you Chelsea ;D
