Baby’s First Job Offer: Harper Beckham
Harper Beckham: not easily impressed.
Some company wants to pay the youngest Beckham child a large swath of money in exchange for her modelling services.
Harper Beckham is NINE MONTHS OLD.
Naturally, this story reeks of a publicity stunt, but a good publicity stunt no less.
In an open letter to David and Victoria Beckham, My1stYears.com – a personalised baby gifts company – tried the flattery angle on Harper’s parents in order to coax them into letting their baby front a campaign for the UK brand.
“Both your parents are fashion icons, and we can see no reason why you shouldn’t start your own career in the fashion industry even at your young age,” wrote My1stYears.com’s Emily Sandford.
“From what we have seen of you since your first public appearance less than a year ago, we know you have implacable style and taste. You were therefore the immediate first choice for our campaign.”
“Due to child labour laws we cannot negotiate a contract or salary directly with you, that is why your Mummy and Daddy have been copied in on this letter. We are happy to speak with them about your fee; however, we are prepared to pay you a significant amount to be the face of our new range.”
Most of what My1stYears.com wrote about Harps and the Becks clan is true, but are we the only ones who find it a wee bit creepy that grown ass adults are trying to be pen pals with a child who’s young enough to throw up on her superstar mummy and get away with it? Kid is cute, obviously because look who’s DNA she snatched more of, but we know Vicky B ain’t letting this one happen without first slapping the Beckham brand label somewhere on it. Retirement plans don’t grow themselves, Kickettes.
