These boys may not like the rain, but we sure do.
Aside from wet weather making a footy kit much more interesting, it also seems to make players get pouty. This then dries out their bottom lips. Eventually they’re dehydrated and thirst sets in, leading to loose tongues looking for free H20 refills.
No, this is not a stretch of reality, this is factual…ish. Regardless, footballers + tongues always = contentment. Just ask Bojan.

Well, just because Torres seems to be getting more love than Ballack in the comments, the Spanish NT needs to get dissed like that?
If you lust after Ballack, that is totally ok, but judging other women on their crushes and fave teams just because they are not your cup of tea doesn't seem too nice. Or judging the current European and World champions because they seem to have a huge female fan base that you are obviously not a part of.
As a Spaniard, I feel very proud of La Roja and what they have achieved after so many years of great expectations followed by huge disappointments; I find them a great team made of very talented and likable players and the fact that my NT is very much liked by the ladies here at Kickette makes me even prouder of them. So there.

Heartbreaks aside, La Furia have long been one of the most talented side, man-for-man, in international football. Spain has gifted the world some of the greatest athletes to ever grace the pitch. Raul is but one example. Does the fact that, yes, by fortunate coincidence, these boys all happen to be (to quote from Zoolander) really, really ridiculously good-looking necessarily have to detract from that?
The Spaniards have waited YEARS for this level of "recent" success at something which forms a massive part of their culture, and it's well-deserved.

You're kidding right? Look at the level of talent that Spain has put out. Spain plays beautiful football. It doesn't hurt that their men are hot either.
I've thought Ballack was hot ever since I first saw him in the 2006 WC. He looked especially hot standing in the tunnel at the 2010 WC at the end of one of the matches. Also, if you hang around here much, you will see that men from many different countries/teams are represented here. So stop hating on us and the Spaniards.
There are others from different nationalities too. But most of all, I LOVE watching well played football and I'd watch it even if I didn't find many or any of the guys on the team cute/hot.

I was just on one of the offside blogs and read comments by a fangirl. I had to count to like 100 and have my friend Tina talk me out of commenting. Why? I was about to go off and say “This crap right here is why I will ALWAYS regardless of what sport I like get called a bunny.” The only other reason I stopped myself is because I also have started talking to the blog owner and I truly respect the guy.
that was a great read. The author reminds me a lot of myself. Fangirls, however annoying they may be, are just as important as "real fans" in making football the world's most popular sport. We are truly blessed to have the most attractive athletes of any sport there is. Stop arguing amongst yourselves and just enjoy that fact.
Excellent point. The fact that the men of the beautiful game actually tend to be beautiful is the icing on the already delectable treat that is football/futbol/calcio/soccer … and everyone has their preferences in flavor, but who doesn't like cake?
Totally agree! I love the game & the hotness of the players is just an added bonus! I love American football even though there is an embargo on nudity in American sports & many of the players (speaking to you offensive/defensive linemen) are not exactly the type you want to see sans shirt.

The England NT also has not won anything for 44 years yet their players are featured all over worldwide football media, not just Kickette. The Golden Generation was the worst thing to happen to English football.

At first, I was going to stay above the fray. The more I think about it, however, I won't. As a female sports fan for more than half my life thanks to an older brother who got me instead of the younger brother he'd been wanting, I've had to deal with this crap constantly. Wow, I'm a chick who loves hockey – I must be a puck bunny. No. I can actually quote stats and hold my own in a debate with my male friends over hockey [trades, player history, team history etc]. I also have been a baseball fan since my first game on my tenth birthday. I've had cops stop me to ask me if I lust after Derek Jeter. [I'm not blind, but he's never been "my boy".] Again, I can quote stats and hold my own in debate there too.
My father came from Italy and as a kid I can remember trying to watch the game of the week with him on the Italian channel. I say try because I'm sadly not fluent in Italian [although I can curse like an Italian sailor]. 1994 changed all that because of the World Cup. I got to see the US and Italy and I loved it. Same thing happened in 2006. It is possible to be a fan of the game and have footie lust. That doesn't make me any less of a fan though. I love the game first and that is what should matter.

Actually, my brother said he would have liked a brother but is glad he has me…he tells his friends he liked having me around to mold. He's actually a great brother but I will deny ever saying it. Yup. The fantasy world I’ve created for myself (in which there is actually a very real possibility that I will one day be the next Senora Fernando Torres) is so much more appealing to me than the real world (in which I have to read, oh, let’s see, another 100 pages of evidence and criminal procedure and then another 75 pages of gibberish on how to draft a licensing agreement by 9 am tomorrow).
Note that I keep coming back to this page at intervals of exactly 15 minutes … Kickette: the most effective procrastination tool since the invention of television.

Oh, I know. Everyone knows the guy wasn't playing his best, cause of his injury and all, and almost every comment about him was basically that. Like, they didn't say anything else about him other than that. Poor guy.
But yeah, he does look good in the rain. haha. And I'm loving his hair now. It totally works for him.
I always feel so bad for him when that happens. Especially yesterday when, let's face it, none of the team was playing up to their potential. Yet every comment was Torres looks sluggish, Torres can't seem to make anything happen etc. Note to commentators, he's not the only one out there.
I also wonder if he was so keen to go in as a starter, trying to prove himself, that they played him even though he's not totally match fit yet.
Personally, I thought Ngog played worse than Torres…and the passing? atrocious! It's hard for Torres to "play well" if they don't get him the ball. Oh yeah, and maintaining possession of the ball would have helped too. I definitely think Joe Cole would have made a big difference. Oh, I do have to give props to Joe Hart..brilliant saves.
That being said, I did think Torres looked better in first game. I think at this point, getting his confidence back will help too. I think he feels he has to atone for the WC, although, seriously dude, you can't expect to be ready in such a short time after that kind of surgery. Give yourself a break!
Oh, and wait….no comment about the rain accentuating Ballack's bulge or Torres short tent (at least I don't think it's just a wrinkle in the shorts?)? :p
Oh I was missing Cole something fierce. Yeah, everything you said, basically. Everyone looked a mess, they couldn't keep possession – sigh… I don't want to relive the pain. And I definitely have a sense that he's feeling pressure to perform after those injuries and an underwhelming World Cup. It would be so much better to wait until he's absolutely ready to go in as a starter.

Well, I didn’t watch the game, but I know he was heavily critiziced during the WC, which made me very sad for him and I agree that might be still taking a toll? It was such a shame that he couldn’t make things happen and that people were so hard on him.

You know, I thought that too at first – he’s looked bigger to me. But after a close review of his vacation pics from Formentera when he was in a wet bathing suit, I concluded that if he is bigger it may just be muscle.
