Casting Call: Footballers for Sex and the City
Not sure if you’ve ever heard of a little show called Sex and the City. If so, do read on. If not, you’re dead to us.
SATC is currently casting background and bit parts for the sequel to the 2008 film. They’re having open auditions in New York on Tuesday. What are they looking for?
The call is for “models, celebrity types, socialites, clubgoers, gays and lesbians, international types (Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, European, British) and professional soccer players.” Since extras don’t speak, it’s all about the look and making an instant impression.
Kickettes, we’re just going to put this out there: if we see Thierry Henry bossing around a shop assistant in Prada whilst drinking a Cosmopolitan we will be shutting down this website.
So, here’s what we want to know: forget bit parts, which footballers would you cast in the main roles of SATC?
We’ve chosen Dave Kitson as Miranda, and not just for the obvious reasons of hair hue. He’s tall and has an opinion. Kaka is obviously do-gooder Charlotte. Samantha was a tough one. Jermain Defoe and Cristiano Ronaldo were obvious options, but we’ve gone for Italian playboy Marco Borriello - he puts it out there, but we never judge him for it. In fact, we celebrate it.
Carrie was the hardest. We nearly went with Pique, Becks, Guti or even Cisse but instead have decided that fashion-loving, France-living Yoann Gourcuff is our girl.
Who would you have on your casting couch for the film?

How i would love to see the addition of a few footballers to the movie. I watch the first one basically every week so im sure i would watch the second just as religiously
i would definitely cast c-ron as the man loving samantha (for simple reasons, after whatherface and hilton- who knows who else he’ll go for), miranda would definitely be charlotte, i see fletch (utd) as miranda (i don’t know why) and becks as fashion lovin carrie (c-ron could be a double if he doesn’t get samantha role…x
hehe.. I could totally see Kaka as Charlotte! and I would of gone with CRon as Samantha.
i'm on the fence about CRon and Marco. As for Yoann as carrie, i don't know… he seems too nice but i do agree with the fashion loving part
I think Torres would make a great Carrie! The half blonde half brunette hair really works. Not to mention, the overall “I look innocent but I am not look.”
Yoann does not make a good Carrie. he’s a nice guy and she’s cheated on Aidan and used him, etc. etc. I agree with Kaka for Charlotte though, but i would’ve gone for Ronaldo as Samantha. and now that i think of it, Puyol simply screams “Carrie”
Excellent choices, Kickette. For a moment I thought you were matching the characters with players, as in dating. In that case, I wouldn't match Carrie with Lashes, he's just too good for her. Instead she would definitely be more attracted to a bad boy. But Lashes is definitely a Carrie.

I think it would be interesting to see other footballers in the movie. Absolutely, love the choices!

I love your choices. I don't know who I'd pick, it will take a lot of thought.So they're having open auditions, can't actually see any ballers (except maybe CRon) turning up to that.

This is hilarious! I think you're spot on so I won't make any changes. I cannot even fathom what they will be doing with professional soccer players. I think I read a while back that Carrie and Big might move to London in the second movie… or Big moves to London. Or something like that. So maybe that has something to do with it. Or maybe Samantha will just screw her way through an entire team. I'm sure I'll love the movie no matter what happens in it. I watch the first one about once a month.

I would cast the RAMOS as Carrie – so he could buy a lot more of his LV man bags
In my opinion Carrie's way too neurotic to be Yoann. He could be Charlotte. Sergio would make a decent Carrie (the nose, the importance of accessorizing, the hair… The similarities are endless) and Totti could be Samantha. Can't name a Miranda. Personally, I found the movie to be a huge disappointment. The fashion and locations were fantastic. But the plot and characters barely scraped the surface. They spent too much time posing. And if I have to see one more scene with SJP licking her lips my head might explode. They're going to have to kill off a character for me to go see the sequel. I heard Miley Cirus was going to be in it. WTF?!

Becks for Carrie, he loves his fashion, is particular about his footwear and is not as innocent or guilt-free as he would like everyone to think. Agree with kickette about the rest.
No Iker because he is not remotely like any of the characters, certainly not with his fashion sense !

I agree with all your choices! Espesh Kaka as Charlotte. They even have the same hair, although the lengths are a bit different.
