At the editorial meeting for this post, we thought long and hard about which picture to lead with.
- Should we use this one of Theo Walcott, who scored his debut club hat trick in Arsenal’s 6-0 whipping of Blackpool at the Emirates, and celebrated by gallantly trying to stifle Marouane Chamakh’s backspray?
- Or this one of Florent Malouda, who cleverly confirmed that having craptastic hair is no barrier to goalscoring, as Chelsea put six past an apparently defenceless Wigan Athletic?
- And while we’re admiring the scoring prowess (in a good way) of EPL strikers, would it not be rude not to overlook Andy Carroll who put three past a James Milner and Martin O’Neill-less Aston Villa in yet another 6-0 drubbing?
(We’re not sure what’s funnier. The thought that we actually have editorial meetings or that we weren’t going to use this picture of Philippe Mexes’ short tent.)
Wish List: The Van der Vaarts In The EPL

Of course, with the recent purchase of Mesut Ozil, Real Madrid now have more midfielders than Fabio Cannavaro has restraining orders against us. Will Rafa soon be off to greener pastures?
Rumour has it that he’s headed to a Premier League team and as much as we try to stay away from such chit chat, we are all aflutter.
