USWNT: The Golden Girls (Again)

Image: Imgace.com.

Kudos to the USWNT, who beat Japan 2-1 in the Olympic Women’s soccer final last night thanks to two goals from Carli Lloyd and some spectacular saves by ‘keeper Hope Solo, who managed to remain sober for the important bits.

We bet she’s drunk now though. We bet they’re all drunk now.

Side note: your take on the whole ‘Greatness Has Been Found’ t-shirt controversy, Kickettes?

Sporting Kansas City: Open Cup, Open For Business

Let us quickly state for the record, although we enjoy seeing the events that unfolded after yesterday’s Open Cup final, we are rather shocked by the fugliness of the winners’ undergarments. Usually we look forward to locker room celebrations with glee and HD anticipation. Today, not so much.

Still, onwards and upwards.

Olympic Results: Let’s Hear It For The Girls!

Remember, no matter how much fun your having, always check the protagonist’s airway is still open. It’s a policy that’s got us through many an evening, we can tell you. Image: Mike Hewitt/Getty Images.

It’s nice to see that women across the world celebrate good news in equally creative fashion as the lads, isn’t it? While we presume that Team GB girls weren’t drunk whilst playing Brazil in the Olympics last night, we certainly were by the time left-back Steph Houghton scored her third in three games and confirmed GB’s place in the quarter-finals.

Despite this heroic effort, Kickette kudos for the best goal celebration last night is unquestioningly with USWNT’s Hope Solo and Christie Rampone. They set off across the Old Trafford pitch in a pre-planned ‘worm’ after Abby Wambach scored the winner vs. North Korea.

We’ve never tried that one. Not alone, anyhow.
