Champions League Results, Part I: Barcelona To The Finals

Image Credit: Jasper Juinen/Getty Images Europe.

While there’s still much for us to discuss re: the Barcelona/Real Madrid CL tie since our last recap, we’ve elected to keep things short and sweet this time around.

Why? Mainly because we have bigger and better things on our plates. Like photoshopping our new Finest Five together, for example.

And so, we’d like to congratulate the Barca boys for making it to Wembley. We imagine the Catalans will be lounging comfortably on their lush Italian leather sectionals this evening as they eagerly await the result of the Schalke 04 v. Manchester United return tie. As you may recall, United have two crucial away goals in their clutches, but it definitely ain’t over until the fat lady belts her bluesy tunes.

Cristiano RonaldoNow, on to more important issues: would you agree that Leo Messi is picking while Xavi Hernández is scratching/rubbing? And what was with the poor man’s pitch-invading version of Where’s Waldo last night?

Both scenes are making us uncomfortable. And slightly jealous.

  2. izzy says:

I am so proud of the way my Barca boys played on tuesday! I do however have to say Madrid played well so congrats for giving it your all sorry for the loss (not too sorry i have to say cause i was rooting for my Barca LOL) There was minimal diving and complaining and I was proud that even as Messi was fouled again and again he got up and kept on playing, well done well done indeed! Barcelona displayed their beautiful football we all know and love (well most of us, ok some of us, well a lot of us) and YAY we are in the final!!!!! i will be glued to my tv on the 28 even if its bad for my blood pressure. I will ofcourse be rooditng for the Barca boys to bring the trophy home!
Also i have to agree thank you for the rain!! Hot Hot Hot football players always makes my day! although the rain added a nice touch.
    Puyol shirtless = AMAZING
and yeah so so so happy for my Barcelona and keep up the good work boys!!!!

Logically speaking not trying to be a sore loser or blaming referee or anything, ( already congrulated Barc). However, Oh-please Guti! lol, did he really talk? haha!, Mourinho push it with whatever he said and he is getting puinshed but it doesnt mean that the referee didn't make two critical mistakes that a direct imapct on the result, Real Madrid will forever feel robbed, but as gracious as Madrid fans always have been, we dont talk about referees, however if Iker said it, it means something is wrong since Iker doesn't talk – never been a sore loser and he represent madridista value that "everyone" have been complaining about how Mourinho ruined it so….

Stop blaming Mourinho for everything! His point was kind proven "accidently or not" by disallowing Higuain goal lol, so.. Thumb down yes!

    • Tina says:

Sorry, I just had to comment. That line about how Madrid fans don't talk about referees just cracked me up! There has been plenty of that the past two weeks.

      • Sarah, Madrid says:

Believe me most of us don't. We blame coaches :) . That's what I think shocked alot of people how madrid fans are talking about referees, because we rarely speak about them, until these last 2 games we talked about referee, but did most of us blame the lost on him? ( although Iker felt it ) I already said you are the better club. Anyway, it is time we start supporting a coach for stability before anything.

  4. Pam says:

It's only FINITO for 3 months. A fresh installment of at least 4 El Clasicos will start in August and the first two for Super Cup might drive us up the wall once again :-(

  5. xoWinnie says:

i cannot wait until this final!
this was actually the match-up i was hoping for during the semis.
    it will be truly entertaining.
i cannot wait for Busquets, Masche, Alves, Pedro & Co
to try pulling any of that diving/ref chasing against them.
lol dearie, this will be a good one.

    • Kristina says:

Yes and I can't wait to see Rooney fall like a log as soon as Puyol gets near. He falls heavy that man.

    • Lotte says:

It went pretty well two years ago :) . I have high hopes for a good game. Without any fuss.

      • Winnie Mata says:

as a reply to you both:
Kristina: Rooney can try that against Barca, as far as i'm concerned he will either get carded right away, or get away with it, and leave a sour taste in your mouth, just as the divers on your team have left in the mouths of others.
Lotte: i like you! so i'll just say "we'll see for now!" good luck on achieving a good, clean game!

  6. Sarah, Madrid says:

YESSSSSSSSSS! Classico are over they are over! oh yeah oh yeah let's party let's party. Congrats once again Barcelona, Messi hats-off, Abidal returning to the pitch was so touching, Welcome back Abidal, another highlight :) .

  7. AC_USA says:

Yes that almost made me cry! So moving! He is a great player and to be welcomed like that..it was very touching! :) A shirtless Puyol never killed anyone :) I was hoping that we were gonna see shirtless Pique and Messi too but oh well…next time :)

  8. Kleon says:

So happy to see Barça on final, the best team won, end of story. Mourinho (because he nulify Real Madrid's spirit) was extremly rude, it's only referee's fault (oh, come one mature a bit, in this games you depend on the referee and they're human and make mistakes, you'd better go out and fight, it's more important) not your players were happily jumping in the field during the first semi final match, please don't whin ¬¬ Even Guti said this, Guti.

  9. mochara says:

Did Messi and Xavi get a whiff of Ronaldo's new fake tan?
I'm glad Barca won they totally deserved it. Does anyone know why Mourinho wasn't at the match?

    • Adriana says:

Mourinho was banned as a result of being sent off during the first tie.
He watched the match from the hotel.

  10. Leya_S says:

I'm exhausted from all the Clasicos so all I'm gonna say is that its a close call as to whether I feel all football matches should be played in the rain or in blistering heat. Heat gets us shirt removal, but this game was played in the rain and everyone looked so GORGEOUS! (Kaka should always play in the rain, just sayin')

ManU-Barca in the final!!!! Should be a BRILLIANT game, as the two teams styles of play are completely different. I'm excited!

  11. Adriana says:

Unlike the first leg, I can truly say that I am so proud of how Real Madrid played.
I know they left their hearts and souls on the field, and that's enough for me.
Hasta el final, vamos Real <3

Congratulations to Barcelona and all the lovely Kickettes who are culés (:
I thought the most beautiful moment of the game was when Adibal came onto the field as a substitution for Puyol (who, by the way, looked wonderful without his shirt!)
Hearing the crowd cheer for him was so moving, and I'm glad to see him back.

  12. Gladys says:

Apparently Arbeloa and Xabi went up to Pique after and they shook hands and hugged. So there's a start. (I wish the TV cameras would leave that stuff on. It's my favorite part at the end.)

    • Sarah,Madrid says:

I loved how xabi the next day on twitter dismissed everything that it is claimed to be said by him on the media " that the NT forever has been broken", he denied it the next day, love it. Like serously, pick another guy media to mess with, I think xabi is the last player who would say something like that!

  13. Zaida says:

Okay I wont take it from Barcelona that they play a good football but they are the most annoying team in the world !
Everytime a Barca player falls on the ground for nothing the whole team follows the referee and asks for a card !
And what was wrong with the referee in both games ? Yesterday Real Madrid didn't get a single free kick and when a Real Madrid player breathed on a Barca player the referee judged a free kick.
And how was the goal disallowed, Pique pushed Cristiano and he fell on Mascherano ! ?
I hope UEFA ban Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets before the final game.
Please Manchester kick those damn fucking Barcelona asses in the final !
    Hala Madrid !

    • Gladys says:

Zaida, I know you're annoyed but please bear with me about the disallowed goal: The ref blew the whistle before Higgy touched the ball (it was really hard to hear with the crowd but you can see him do it in replay). He didn't see Pique's push of CR as a foul (though it looked like it was to me). So, according to the rules, the ref had to give Christiano a foul against Masch for tripping the most forward defender, even if unintentional. However, if Pique's push had been interpreted as a foul, RM still wouldn't have gotten to play the ball through because of the whistle. Instead, CR would have been awarded a free kick (which he probably should have been). So really, the goal couldn't have been allowed. I agree with you about the diving– I was pretty disgusted with Masch last night (as I was on Wed.). That said, the disallow had nothing to do with his overacting, and, though some of Madrid's players expressed feeling cheated, I think the ref did a pretty good job ignoring any dramatics throughout.

      • Gladys says:

P.S. Sorry. I correct myself: The ref blew the whistle before the ball went into the net, not before foot contact from Higgy. However, that still nullifies the play.

        • Sarah, Madrid says:

I believe it was a legit goal or free-kick, but the game is over now, I as madridista ask every fan in here to move on from the whole thing and just congrat Barcelona. Mascherno has surprised me yesteraday!, anyway I just have one wish I really hope Barcelona will do something about Busquets racist remark to Marcelo – I actually was glad he was the one who scored the goal :) .

          • Zaida says:

Yeah, but it's hard to move on when your team loses very unfair. I think the results would of been different if the referee would of been bit more fair.
But you're right, lets move on even though it's hard.

            • Kristina says:

Sorry, they lost fair to a better team. Barca is at a higher level football wise at this point in history. They could have dived even more and still have won in the long run. RM still needs some time to become really great team. Cristiano dived, Masch dived. Poor Higuain. He should've gotten the chance to score in a legitimate way.

              • Kristina says:

I mean less! "they could have dived less…" is what I wanted to say. Sorry I'm tired.

              • Sarah,Madrid says:

I agree, they are the better club, we need time to improve to dace them that's it, about Cris diving, I think it is more like he lost balance, however it is over AS is starting to count down for the next classico, I nearly cried lol.

              • Winnie Mata says:

what you mean is they lost UNFAIR to a better team.
sorry, you can say all you want about SOME decisions going Madrid's way
but the fact of the matter is, that MOST of them, including the more crucial ones
went Barca's way and that's a fact. believe me, i had no doubt who was
going to be proceeding to this final, and i knew it wasn't going to be Madrid.
i pretty much accepted that Barca are the stronger team at the moment a long time ago.
but i would've felt much more comfortable losing because of the way football was played
rather than because of faulty calls and acrobatics, i'm sure that's the case for
most fans of either team, but i could be wrong.

                • Kristina says:

Well most of the decisions went against RM simply because they deserved it. Hence fair win.

                  • Zaida says:

If that was a fair win then I'm Jesus

                  • xoWinnie says:

oh yeah, the decisions against them which resulted from the diving and exaggeration of others were TOTALLY well deserved. like really? LOL get real.

          • Nando y Geri 4ever says:

what did Busquets say to Marcelo?

    • Adriana says:

UEFA has already dismissed Real Madrid's complaints against Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano, and Sergio Busquets – although I do not know whether Real Madrid has decided to appeal this decision.
I, for one, hope UEFA does something about the pitch invasion and that odd man who was so intent on putting a hat on Cristiano's head, because one of UEFA's complaints against Real Madrid was a pitch invasion.
(On a side note, I was very impressed with how calm Cristiano was about the whole event.)

      • Sarah,Madrid says:

Actually yes, I dont know about you guys! But I did saw this game as an improvement from last time we were in Camp Nou, I was proud of Ronaldo, he was welll-behaved.

    • xoWinnie says:

of course UEFA won't ban them!
have they banned Biscuits for the racial slur yet?
NO! don't get your hopes up girl!
if they wore a different jersey, it might be different
(i.e. if these were our players instead)
but that's not the reality of the situation.

      • Kristina says:

I guess they need to have proof before banning anyone. They are funny that way. They didn't punish Mou either, remember.

        • Sarah,Madrid says:

They will! The decision will be out on 6-may :) . I agree he should be puinshed, but so is Busquets.

          • Kristina says:

I knew that they would make a decision tomorrow, but I didn't know that the outcome had already leaked. So they will punish Mou, good. But what about Sergio? I hope he is innocent, but if he's not he deserves a massive ban.

            • Sarah,Madrid says:

The whole busquets claim was rejected by UEFA, there was a clear evidence, I think Barcelona should punish him themself as I said

              • Kristina says:

What was the evidence? I'm definitely not saying that there are none, I'm just curious. And as I said, he deserves to be punished if guilty. Racism has to be abolished.

                • Sarah,Madrid says:

                  http://www.realmadrid.com/cs/Satellite/es/1330055…

Forget about the whole video, focus on the end. It is on youtube too.

                  • Kristina says:

I have seen that before. Because racism is such a disgusting thing it's a very serious accusation. I guess they need more proof than lip reading to make it stick. Me I'm not sure about this. I don't care so much about diving, it happens everywhere and everytime, but this… I just don't know what to think. The evidence is to thin, but it has really changed the way I look upon Sergio.

                    • Sarah,Madrid says:

But why would he cover his mouth while saying it! Every evidence point that he did. For that, I think Barcelona should be the one puinshing him.

        • Winnie Mata says:

i thought not being able to attend the game was punishment enough.

          • Kristina says:

Not being able to attend the game was the punishment for his protests when Pepe got the red card. The decision tomorrow concerns his offensive comments about Guardiola at the post-game press conference. At least I think so. It's hard to know with him, he does so many less intelligent thing.

        • Winnie Mata says:

there is plenty of proof against him, putting the video aside.
to me, the fact that neither Pep (who's only statement was to claim this is "a mistake")
and Sergio Biscuits himself, have yet to confirm or deny the allegations,
is particularly damning. it seems as though they are trying to make sure this just goes away.
i really hope it doesn't. the unsportsmanlike behaviour on the part of the aforementioned three
should also be made an issues, but of course, they won't be.
it's good to be a cheater if you're on Barca.
i feel for the Cules worthy of respect who are bunched up in this whole,
"BARCA ARE CHEATERS" bandwagon of the moment,
because it's really not all of them. but how they shield and defend the ones who are
is what's getting them this rep, and frankly it makes me sick

          • Kristina says:

Again, what proof? Pep doesn't talk, Sergio doesn't talk, Marcelo doesn't talk. Not talking is not proof. From anyones point of view.

            • Sarah,Madrid says:

Marcelo coming out now and say he told me so on the pitch, I dont think he should do that or he actually didn't hear him or didn't pay attention to him! Do you think Busquets will come saying I said so on the pitch? I dont think so either. So, it is out in the open now, it is up to Pep to either deny it or confirm it, he didn't neither. The lips can be read as a) momo b) mono and c) bobo, which one of these 3 make sense the most? why would he cover his lips and say momo? It is clear, the evidence is clear as it can gets for me, we can't put mick on the pitch to hear what players say.
Again, since UEFA denied it, it is in Barcelona hand now and the way they deal with it.

              • Kristina says:

Since there was no microphone on the pitch, only Sergio knows what he said. I'm just saying that it won't stick. The lip reading thing is too vague. I'm not saying that he didn't say it.

            • xoWinnie says:

Pep said it was a mistake. do you have selective reading or something?
              what was a mistake exactly?
did Busquets not say that or did he make a mistake in saying it?
              care to elaborate, Josep?
oh, of course you wouldn't, wouldn't wanna be a liar now in case we're caught in the act, would we?

              • Kristina says:

I'm saying that Pep didn't say anything to clarify the matter. I don't know what Sergio has said or if he has said anything. Maybe he has told God or his bathroom mirror what he said. I don't care. Nothing of this matters as long as nothing is said in public so it could be used as PROOF.

                • xoWinnie says:

you know what? this is my last post before i actually get upset about this.
if the fact that your club has lost the respect of many fans and players of this sport,
and the affection of many fans (black and white alike), does not speak volumes to you
than you can keep living in your delusional world where Biscuits did nothing wrong
because according to you it can't be "proven". which it can if you were only able to
look at things objectively and take the blinders off for only a second,
you would realize he did do this. it was wrong, and defending it is wrong.
if lip-readers can decipher most of the royal wedding, then BY GOD they can be
able to decipher one word that came out of this degenerate's mouth.
whether you wanna believe it or not is your prerogative. i hope go out in public
blabbing this drivel and defending this fool. i would love to see the reaction you get
                  from Cules and neutrals, alike.

                  good day.

                  • Kristina says:

Ok, you have totally misunderstood me. Nowhere in my comments have I supported Sergio. My point is that a grave accusation needs proof to back it up. This is an investigation of a possible crime committed, not a royal wedding. You have to be a lot more careful of what you say or do.

I have argued that you need stronger proof, but I have also said that I don't care about Sergio. If he is guilty they should kick him out.

                    • Sarah, Madrid says:

Again, if this is not enough of proof, I dont know what is! as far as I know there is a clause in players contract in barcelone, if one player was guilty with racisim, he will be out, so I think that's why barcelona is doing nothing, they dont want to ruin his career based on this video. However, it is a stong proof.
What really I think bother alot of Madird fans the fact when our players was punished by UEFA to set an example to other clubs after Ajax game, when we acted to get yellows, ( yes, was disrepestful to Ajax, we get it), Iniesta did it and get away with it in quarter final and they didn't punish alves, pedro and busquets for acting also.
Do you understand our point? It doesnt make sense us, at least for me.

                    • Sarah, Madrid says:

Yes, UEFA prove was a video too, iker, dudek, mourinho, althoough until this second I didnt see the video that he told his players to do so in it, ramos and alonso all get puinshed for :) .
                      see our points, no sense!

    • Monika says:

Pique didn't push Ronaldo though. He was going and then stopped. Ronaldo saw him coming, and pushed into him to make it look like Pique pushed him. But as a Barca fan, I was disgusted with both Busquets and Mascherano the whole time. I really don't understand why Barca bought Mascherano, but he doesn't play good and is too much of a faker.

  14. NinaNoir says:

    Whatever.

Iker says everything in an interview, and remains beautiful while doing so. I've got nothing more to add:

"No one likes to be eliminated like this. They shouldn’t receive so much help from the referees. We’re hurt and angry. The referees killed us. They robbed us here and there. We’re not in the final because of them."

    • xoWinnie says:

leave it to San Iker to say it like he means it! *does my best Wendy Williams impression* how you doin, Casillas? only Iker can make a comment like that not sound like he's having a total b*tchfit.

    • Maria says:

As a Barca fan, I'm sorry for your team's loss, and I can clearly say that i'm not as proud as i'd like to be about our win. At least this game wasn't as awful as the other three.

    • Kristina says:

I must say that I'm pretty disappointed with Iker. Blaming the refs is always a part of a loser mentality. And he is not like that. The crying barca-players rolling around on the pitch was not the cause of RM's loss. Both teams got ref's decision for or against them. Pepes red card clearly had some impact, but it was a deserved red. Getting sent out is supposed to be a punishment, so maybe he should start thinking a bit about what it does to his team.

Barca won because they are the better football team, with or without divers. RM is not at the same level for the moment, with or without divers and aggressive play. That's all that matters. I thought more of Iker than trying to discredit a better team.

      • Cora says:

Well Kristina, Iker Casillas Fernandez gets his SAN IKER title not for nothing. The man is usually reserved, picks his words carefully and always remains calm talking about everything. I don't know if you watch the games that warranted his response (my best bet: PROBABLY NOT) so you probably have no idea whatsoever why he just couldn't stay quiet anymore.

What was a "loser mentality" for you is "truth" for me and so many other people. Each to their own, I guess.

        • Kristina says:

Hence the disappointment. You know, the same argumentation that you use would render a barca fan the "you're-just-arrogant-and -self rightous" speech. Think about it.

        • xoWinnie says:

have you also noticed that Iker can keep his sentiments to himself when until he leaves the pitch rather than chasing players and refs around, like some other goalies we know and love…

    • Sarah,Madrid says:

So, yes we should move on as I said before, but I hated the fact that alves came out saying real madrid should lose with grace, seriously the last person on earth to teach iker grace is Alves, that's my lost word, Iker is the most respected player and he has too much grace , when he come saying something like that, he feels it, I don't blame him and I never will :) .

  15. Thea says:

Okay stayed out the last week's drama (more because I had no access to a computer, than the need to be quiet!) BUT I will say the following. The Games were scrappy and full over the top dives (Barca) and unnecessary Whinging (RM) that did both sides to favours. HOWEVER theres is no favouring Barca with the officals and MOUR and CR-9 should accept their being outclassed with dignity and respect, not letting their ego's ruke their mouths! Pep was gracious in defeat last year……………..

    • Tina says:

Thumbs up! I guess it hurts losing :) . About the dives, it happens in every game but I hope barca loses that behaviour. They don't need it. They would have won without it of course, they are the better team. As it is now it only gives Mou, the sore loser, even more to whine about. Even Iker is going on about it. It bothers me.

      • Thea says:

Tina – RM have big dreams but not really the team they need to make it happen yet! Barca are soaring above them and all others at the moment – just hope we can make it all the way, but MANU have home advantage so nothing is certain!

      • Winnie Mata says:

if they don't need it, why'd they do it?
to prove "oh hey! we can get away with anything!"
this is a legitimate reason to be butthurt.
you should be more bothered that they'd do that in the first place
not that "Even Iker is going on about it".
he was asked and gave a statement.
he has the right to his opinion.

  16. Zahara says:

i am proud of the way my beautiful barca boys played yesterday…
im soo glad it wasnt like the 1st leg.
barca did really well yesterday and they deserve it.
i love that the other players show so much love for eric abidal and also the crowd stood up for him!
    it shows a lot.
and im so happy hes ok now!
pedro was pure class yesterday, as was xavi, messi, iniesta and villa. puyi too!

i have to say, ronaldos behaviour is kinda improving!
the sad thing bout the game yesterday was the racism..
sergio biscuits, i was never much of your no.1 fan, but you reaaly shouldnt have said marcelo is a 'mono' (monkey)
it goes completely against the values of barca.
and there was minimal diving yesterday, so thats good!
i hope mou and the madrid players dont say that the ref was favouring barca.
even that, because they support UNICEF.
mou, you evil genius, you always jazz me! and the fact that u stayed in ur hotel room really made me laugh!

    also, OMG PUYOL IS PUMPEDDD!
he looked like sexy wet man beast!
he should never wear a shirt again!
and i am seeing a whole new very hot hot side of pedro. i knew he was hot, but yesterday, oohlala!

but i really wish david villa scores in the final!
i love how he and messi just get up without complainig when they are fouled!

and god, thanks for the rain!

visca el barca, bring the trophy home boys!

  17. Gladys says:

Thanks to all the lovely Madridista Kickettes for being so gracious!

Though not without incident on both sides, at least last night was fairly clean. And poor Pipita. So many ways to call that goal, but still, I just wanted to hug him (while face-palming Carvalho out of the way)…well, really I would have hugged him for any reason– the rain, Abidal being back, the Royal Wedding…in fact, that was actually me assaulting him while the red cap guy was distracting everyone. Something about Higgy turns me into Dirty Tackle's version of Berbatov. ;)

  18. AC_USA says:

Yesssss my Barca boys have made it :) And on a different note, I realized that I love Messi wayyyy to much :) Its not sane no more :) Gotta say though, yesterday's game was much cleaner then last one!

  19. Marie says:

sorry, that was supposed to be 'thoroughly enjoyable.'

  20. bri_saldana says:

So glad to stop the bickering & so glad that I can honestly wish barc well. I will be rooting for ManU b/c of the lil pea….but all in all I’m optimistic & SUPER EXCITED for some beautiful football to come :)

  21. Maria says:

ok i'm sooo happy that last nite both team played better …. even though I thought that Madrid was trying to kill Messi… I felt soo bad for him…____I'm sorry but I cant stand Adebayor he plays to dirty for my taste …

I'm an FCB fan .. but I can't stand when fans/media start talking crap… I hate the whole drama with this last 4 games … both teams had fans run on the field … all refs made bad calls for both teams … both teams made fouls some worst then others… both teams had actors on their team… & no matter what happens in what ever game …everyone (mostly everyone) will blame the team that won & the refs… & I see that very unproffesional & immature….

you win some … you lose some …. just move on get over it … was I upset with the games & the fouls .. yes .. do I hate some of the guys from Real Madrid .. yea… but I will try to respect them … because their action the field doesnt make the person who they are off the field…

    • Maria says:

      BTW

I want to give an ENHORABUENA!!! to Real Madrid they played a great game … & to those Real Madrid fans that know who to respect other people … & on behalf of other Cules who respect the other teams … I want to appoligize for the rude fans from FC Barcelona that don't know how to behave either….

Because EVERY team have "good" fans that know how to win & lose & have "bad" fans that DO NOT know how to win or lose …

    • Adriana says:

Adebayor isn't really a dirty player, in my opinion – he's just a bit uncoordinated because he's so long!
Albiol had the same problem when he was playing for Valenica.
(According to our lovely El Chori, he used to look like a duck when he played.)
My point is that Adebayor doesn't go in with the intention of committing fouls, they just happen accidentally because he hasn't fully learned to control all 6 feet and 3 inches of his body.
Fouls are fouls of course, but I think a dirty player is someone who commits fouls intentionally, and of course, people who dive.

      • xoWinnie says:

        i'm a Madridista and I have to say..Adebayor is a dirty player.
he was at Arsenal (i hated him even then), he was at City,
and he still is even at Madrid (obviously).
i was so mad that he was tranferred to Madrid. ugh.

        • Sarah, Madrid says:

Yeah, I am a Madridrista and say Adebayor deserve a red card, he is not staying thank god! Thank you ade for the 2 goals against Tottenham and one goal against Seville, Good luck in England :)

  22. Rossanera says:

I'm happy all the ugliness of El Clasico is behind us after all the vitriol I've seen on Tumblr in the last week. And Eric Abidal's return was such a beautiful, moving moment.

  23. Maria says:

I was so disappointed to see Busquets on the field last night. Truly shameful behavior from both UEFA and the Barcelona management to let him play after the racial slurs he spewed.

    • Leya_S says:

Barcelona is one of my favorite teams but this isn't the first time I've heard talk of racist slurs surrounding them (not necessarily from the players, but, for example, I understand that Samuel Eto'o experienced racism while he was there, from fans). I'm black, and it makes me irritated to hear/read these things. I never understand it, either, bc if you have teammates like Sedou Keita and Eric Abidal on your own team, how can you make racist slurs against anyone else? That offends your teammates as well….

    • meh says:

i just saw the video of what was said, and i have to say i think this is the last straw for me and barcelona. this is simply not on, a disgrace. perhaps mou was right. i dont know how he can look abidal in the face after this. Now i dunno who i want to win, after rooney kicked the ball in wilsheres face, and after this incident, neither teams have grace or respect so good luck to them. a disgrace.

      • Winnie Mata says:

what bothers me is that the ever-classy Pep is not taking any action. that is a slap in the face to every black player on his team.

    • TariGirl.x.ManUtd says:

As a black women , I agree with you . Very disappointed with Barcelona .

    • Nando y Geri 4ever says:

what did he say? I sadly had to miss the match.

    • D0li says:

I agree with the comments and disagree with them at the same time. I don't think this should be a disgrace to just black players and fans, but the entire team, all Barcelona fans, and all the players and fans who were watching the match (whether live or on tv) during that time. I did not notice this until I read it on the daily mail but I am very disapppointed that action was not taken against Basquets. Mourino might have his antics but he could be right here that UEFA favor barcelona. It would be interesting to find out whether Abidal walked on the field after/before/during these racist rants since Pepe could have put him on the field to make the team look good after knowing that Basquets called Marcelon a monkey.

Being a black woman living in the "tolerant" mid-west I have experienced racism and studying it (I'm a sociology major) makes the effecst no different. i honeslty think UEFA needs to stop up and do something or else such situations will never stop.

    • indianmuggle says:

There is no proof he made any racially abusive comments. For all we know, he might have been saying 'moc moc' in that video.
Innocent till proven guilty. And no one but Busi and Marcelo know what was said. So stop being judgmental. Busi has his flaws, but he is a great player too.

  24. MeSergio&SaraIker says:

Good job Barca!!! :) i think man of the match was def. Iker. I was really happy for him- its not easy, even for a Barca fan, to see him sad.

Hope for a great game in the final. Visca Barca!!!

  25. meh says:

so the theory is true, barcelona cant beat real with all 11 men, perhaps mou shudda played them like this in the first leg….

    • sarah says:

      but they didn't…

    • Pam says:

Hmm, I seem to remember Barcelona was kicking Real in the first Clasico in November. Real had 11 men on the field when Barca was leading 5-0. And then Ramos got kicked out during the injury time (after 90 minutes). You really think Real would have scored 5-6 goals in 3 minutes of injury time to draw or beat Barca?

      A little objectivity please!

  26. Deanna says:

Barcelona has made it though. Congrats.
I can honestly say I do not know who I root for if it does come down to Man Utd and Barca.
I hope the team that plays football without theatrics wins, whether that be Barca or Man Utd that night.
I hope football is the winner and not a repeat of what happened in the first leg of CL clasico.

  27. lorena_yGp says:

Can't wait for the final!!! Hopefully my Red Devils finish the job easy tonight and then-Wembley 28.5 Barcelona vs Manchester United- extasy of a football if you ask me!!! It will be epic, E P I C !!!

  28. Good job Barca! I'm just glad no one from either team went all gangsta last night. There was a little diving but no more than was expected. The final is going to be too exciting to watch! Even though my Spurs didn't make it, I wish Man U and Barca the best! I can truly say may the best team win.

  29. Lotte says:

Congrats to both teams for a game well played! Don't worry I'm not gonna post like a lunatic this time :) .

Iker was again fantastic. If Messi is extraterrestrial then so is he.

King Eric's return gave me tears in my eyes. He looks so thin. It was a wonderful thing Pep did, letting him on the pitch.

I hope my nerves can get some rest until the final, I really can't take anymore.

  30. ciotog says:

It's Xavi Hernandez . On to more important things like the fact that goal celebrations should always consist of men in drenched kits sliding along the ground into each other – its clearly the way forward!! If only Marcelo had gotten the memo, a wet RM man pile would not have gone astray! And it was a pity that The Ramos couldn't show everyone how you work a wet white top (Still the others didn't do a bad job of that ;-) )

    • Lotte says:

Yes finally the pitch was wet enough!

    • MeSergio&SaraIker says:

Agree on the Ramos thing ;) ))

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

for 90 miuntes, I was thinking damn damn Sergio picked the wrong game to be suspended because hands down hands down! he is the best play on our squad who can work RM shirt on & off! what a waste Ramos, we didn't enjoy your wet shirt contest with Crsitano!

  31. Sunshine! says:

And to the boys, good job team! We did so well, coming this far in Champions League, Winning the Copa Del Rey.

After this year I can't wait to see what you bring us next year! HALA MADRID :)

  32. JA7 says:

Even though I was rooting for madrid, congratulations are in order to barcelona!! They made it to the finals! And if man united win agaisnt schalke today (which they most likely will), Barcelona better kick their arses!

  33. AllTheWay..Iker ;D says:

    Congratulation to Barcelona :D
    They've really deserved it!
I am a Madridsta but I think that football stays for peace.. ! And the better team wins.. :D
