Awful news out of Virginia, USA. US National team striker Charlie Davies, who plays for Sochaux in Ligue 1, has been in a terrible one-car accident that claimed the life of a young female passenger and left him in the hospital with serious injuries.
Charlie played in the recent USA v Honduras World Cup group qualifiers and is now facing a lengthy recovery period and rehabilitation. His injuries read as scary for any footballer: a broken right femur and tibia (which then required titanium rods), a lacerated bladder, facial lacerations, and a fractured left elbow.
Our thoughts are with Charlie, his family and the families of the others involved in the crash. The state of the car gives us chills. Ugh.

The news of Charlie breaks my heart. And the loss of his friend is tremendously sad. Seeing our boys pull through in the number 1 spot today, and all of the 9’s that were held up in his honour, made today’s match all the more important. So proud of my boys.
