Cheryl Cole: Angel of the North
image copyright Lee Jones
Attn: Artsy fartsy culture vultures, it’s time to weigh in on whether you think this painting of Cheryl Cole is a quality investment opportunity.
Created by Liverpudlian artist Lee Jones, it depicts Mrs. Ashley Cole as the Angel of the North. And why, exactly? “I see her as a new icon of popular culture for the 21st century, a beacon of light in these bleak times,“ says Jones. “A fine example of a northern lass making good.“
The painting will be on exhibit in London in February for those looking to expand their collection. Do you like?
We’re on the fence and will be sticking with our retro Athena poster of shirtless man and baby for a little while longer.

Somebody has a massive crush on Cheryl. Why doesn’t he just stalk her and save us the creepiness? As for the “art”, I third the no. If I was a Northern lass, I’d be a little insulted that he’s suggesting my “icon” should be a weepy doormat. :S
WhY?
I'll second that No
That is just horrible
No.
I like it. Good colour combination.
I don’t know what to say. Either I don’t know how to appreciate art or I’m colour-blind, but I seriously think this looks terrible.

great colors.. bad balance of space.. and she looks more like she’s depressed than a woman acting as a beacon of light… if her arms were outstretched toward the sky, it would probably solve both the space and the expression thing.. i wonder what cheryl cole thought of it
That “art” looks like a cut and paste job, that could have been done by any computer savy twelve year old.
Nothing to see here, let’s move along….
I like it better than the statue of a laboring Britney Spears <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" />
Complete rubbish!
I really really really like it. I would definitely buy it if I was the sort of person who had enough money to actually buy art…
Looks awful. I wouldn't have known it was her if it wasn't mentioned here already. I bet this one would go for thrice its worth because of that. Not my type of paintings anyway, I prefer the classics.
Its a pretty combination of colors, but… I wouldn't jot out and buy a copy of it.
Hmmm… I like the colours… but don't think i'd buy it!
i think i like this, im stll indecided, but its a good idea.
It looks Warhol-esque, but…god help us all if WAGs are our beacons of light.
What a waste of space, waste of paint…who would buy such crap? I question the status of the said gallery that plans to show such fluff. Meh!
