CL Finals: Red and Wet
After watching last night’s game, we’re in serious need of some vitamins.
Hope everyone has recovered from the madness that was the Champions League final. We’ve never seen so many cramped legs, wet hair-dos, bloody noses or yellow cards.
High fives all round to the boys from Manchester United for the win and the title.
Kickettes in red – we raise a glass of bubbly to you. And our dear blue-hearted readers, we’ll give you the rest of the bottle and a large tin of chocolate biscuits to ease you through.
A note on penalty kicks: we hate them and want to poke them with a stick. They really are one of mankind’s most evil creations.

OMG! I totally argue about getting rid of penalties..i watched last nights final and i couldn’t take the tension. It was nail-biting stuff!…especially when Ronaldo screwed up his penalty, i do love him but next time don’t mess around…just kick the ball in the net! And hard luck Terry but i really don’t like you ever since the Chelsea vs Liverpool game…nothing personal but you picked the wrong cute spanish boy to jump over! I thought Van der Sar was the hero of the match and that Owen Hargreaves(YUMMY) did really well too and how cute was Cristiano when he cried at the end!?
The game was in fact pretty amazing…I have never felt so nervous about any sporting event ever! I cannot officially congratulate ManU yet b/c I'm still realing over the loss for my Chelsea boys, but I'm coping. Ronaldo missing the pk was the height of the game for me and then I quickly lost it with Terry's miss. But everyone played a terrific game and know that Chelsea gave them a good run.
I second the Vidic love. He is looking quite nice recently. (Must stay away from the Mancs!!) couldn’t believe everyone getting cramp all over the shop towards the end. Oh to be a physio! Dream job. Congrats to the Utd girlies and commiserations to the Chelsea gals. It was a humdinger – even for a neutral like me!

I Really Thought We Had It, Spesh When Ronaldo Missed His Penalty. I Couldnt Watch, It Was Too Tense! I Really Do Feel For John Terry, Seing Him In Tears Made Me Want TO Cry. But I Think That The Obvious Penalty Takers Should Have Gone First. I Still Love My Boys Though, Through Thick And Thin!

Sooo that game was insanity. A roller coaster ride. Super duper intense. It was brilliant though, I really enjoyed it. After it went off my friends and I were like "Let's watch again!" It was highly entertaining, I really enjoyed it.
Crazy game, it was. Well done to ManU! It was well deserved. (Though not to say that Chelsea didnt make a good effort) Well said about Ronaldo’s penalty Johnna.
I thought it was done when Ronaldo missed, but guess what? He still had an amazing season! Notice that he still felt terrible about it after they had won? It was sad to see him crying on the ground after the match. As for Terry, yeah, I felt pretty awful for him, but that’s the way the penalties are. That’s the way the game goes. It was Man United’s year definately.

Life is unfair. I don't like United. Don't throw a hissy fit at me if I offended you – it's just a personal opinion. Nothing against you. Ha! Ronaldo missed! Suck on that. Congrats anyway to both United and Chelsea, who made a valiant effort, I must say. Sadly, there wasn't really any hotness for me on the pitch. I guess I just like them Arse-boys.
Why not eliminate penalty kicks and just share the trophy? No one gets hurt, everyone gets love. All good. Ok, that’s not real football. . .

Oh my, I’m so exhausted! It was the most brilliant game of football I’ve ever seen!! I’m so glad we got through.
I’m so very proud of my boys, they gave it their absolute everything. I loved the celebrations too, wish my TV had shown more of them, because I think they got the kiddies out on the ground in the end! I need to go find pics!!

I’m so sorry for JT and the rest of the boys, it’s horrible to lose on penalties. And to have all the blame come on your head. I shudder to think that it could have been my Cristiano in the same position.(sorry for being just a little selfish) Thank you for a great game, Chelsea. Hats off to you.

Sorry not to be picky, but it does happen in Cricket, Bella. Quite often the players will go straight to the losing side before celebtrating. But I will agree its very nice to see, especially after a game where there was a lot of pettiness and bitching.
I’m a neutral and still took several hours to steady my heart rate after the match. Thanks to both teams for bringing the intensity—as well as the courage to play through the cramps and collision concussions caused by the slippery and sliding pitch (it was disattaching!!!!).
Many of the ManU players went over to commiserate with the Chelsea guys, Paul Scholes before he even went to celebrate with his own side, and Gary Neville from Ronaldo straight to Terry. This is something that happens in no other sport—but in no other sport do players share the physical and emotional aspects of sharing a 90 minutes of peak exertion…sigh…love that…wouldn’t we love ballers for the whole stamina issue alone? Yes, I DO say that every second post but after all…
Wow what a match. The blood, the fouls, the fights, it was like nothing I’ve seen before. I guess the world knows what English football looks like now! I’m very proud of my boys in red, a game well fought.

I’m exhausted!! What a physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting match!! I have to hand it to Chelsea. They battled so hard – the result could have gone either way. I do think Drogba deserved that red card, and I was furious when the elbow to Hargreaves face went by without punishment.

SO PROUD of my boys!!! I knew Hargreaves would score on his kick! But I agree with Ms. Kickette – it’s no way to end such a closely contested match. It’s just so unfair. No one player should have the loss laid on their shoulders (feel bad for JT). Drogba, to me is the only one who should be questioning himself this morning.
LOVED the reactions when Edwin saved the last kick. Hargreaves speeding to him first. Cris collapsing in tears. And Anderson’s jig! He cracks me up. Nani – not so much!

I'm sure it was even worse for the MU and Chelsea fans out there because even I was on the edge of my seat. I must say it was well fought by Chelsea and the result could have gone either way.
I'm not a Man United or Chelsea fan but I'm with the two of you that Ronaldo missing his penalty shot was the highlight of the match for me and I couldn't stop laughing. It was fun watching the match and not being a fan of either team because there was no pressure for me.

LOL I love all the hatred on Cristiano. Ha! He Missed! He scored the only goal for United in the game, but ha! He missed! He sucks! See how much he sucks! Because he missed the penalty! Ha! Take that! He scored 42 goals this year which is pretty much unheard of, especially for wingers, but ha! I get the last laugh! Because he missed! Ha! *rolls eyes* Whatever, the trophy comes back home. And out of the supposed "top 4" in England, only one of them has any trophies. Suck on that. But I wish it hadn't have been JT that missed the last one. He's one of my favourite players and he just absolutely bleeds for his team, so to see him miss was heartbreaking. He'll never let himself live that down.

OH. and Drogba, Drogba, Didier Drogba, I would not go around slapping Vida if I was you. Vidic would break your neck in two, in one clean swipe, and then you’d feel even greater pain than you feel every 3 minutes when a member of the opposing team happens to brush against you, or just try and play football against you, I know, impossible. Except for my dislike for Dider Drogba and the game he plays, unlucky Chelsea.
I couldn’t watch the penalties because they are just so unfair, and so heartbreaking. I can’t believe Terry missed, and I felt so so so much for him, he’s been there for as long as I can remember and to let the whole team down like that must be terrible. I’ve pretty much never been so happy to see United win though, I mean, I was only 6 when we won the treble so therefore I was in no way of knowing the great importance, though I do still remember being very impressed in the last 2 minutes. Yeah, Cris can’t deal with pressure, I think we’ve all established, or maybe he was just unlucky, I was glad he scored though, and a bit disgruntled that Carrick was so close, yet so far.

No joke, I ran around the house screaming for about five minutes. And then surrendered to a fit of laughter while replaying it on my TiVo. But congrats, ManU fans. But alas – Chelsea will be back. I’d like to thank Chelsea for making it one helluva game! I’ve been a Man Utd. fan for more than a decade and that was ‘pins and needles’ times a jillion. The whole game through!
