Cristiano Ronaldo: Bringing Slickster Back

imageimageIt’s good to see players with a healthy dose of self-esteem.

Take our Finest Five number 3, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Here is a man with the confidence to rock a “shaddup a ya face” hairstyle that few men under the age of 45 would dare.

As debuted at the FA Cup game against Villa this weekend, here it is in all its gel-filled glory.

C-Ron is onto something: if you’re going to rock a slicked back Transylvania style barnet, the only way to do it is to act super self-assured and nonchalant whilst praying to the gods of Brycreem that you are not blinded by an errant strand of hair coated in grease.

Unfortunately, we aren’t big fans of this look, and sensing our discontent Cristiano bravely chose to made it better by taking his shirt off. CR fans, click through. Haters, move along.

thanks jordan!

I think all that is important is that he is confident and any look can come across as “good”.
I feel that its all inside that the look comes from.

Cristiano must read “Kickette” – he’s back to his short do this weekend. Maybe gained a yard of pace because of it, too. smile

  3. Styx says:

    All I can say is…WOW!
How can u guys hate something sooo beautiful?
I think it looks amazing, he did the smae hairdo when Man Utd won the Premier League, did u not notice then?
I think he looks amazing, even if he looks Mafia like but that is what makes him look so good and sexy!

And the shirtless pic, AMAZING, can the man look any good?

  4. Ally says:

Love the guy to pieces (such a fantastic player) but the hair just doesn’t do it for me in the slightest. He looks like that creepy middle-aged guy you find on vacation who’s prancing around the place like he’s God’s gift to women (though Cristiano is God’s gift to many things, he seems well aware of this himself) wearing the horrible clothing and gold jewelery and leering at you with some cheesy pick up line. It just doesn’t work.

I think he only does it when the hair gets to long to be spiky (see last year’s trophy celebrations) in which case, he definitely needs a haircut. And soon.

  5. SuzyQ says:

Not big on the hair, but you can’t argue with the bod… I’m just going to pretend his hair looks like this because he just got out of the pool at our private villa… yes, that works much better.

  6. The Fourth Official says:

    ROFL! MrsJamieRedknapp, that’s a goodun.

Just a thought – perhaps he needs all that gel to hold his hair in place as he dodges past hapless defender after hapless defender, at phenomenal speeds, to score glorious goal after glorious goal? Hmmmm? Just a thought . . . Anyway, I have a feeling we’ll see a return to a shorter hair style when the season is over and he’s off in Japan or Portugal making television commercials and shooting Vogue layouts.

  7. freddiegirl says:

Oh no….how can anyone hate the fabulousity that is Cesc??? But then again, I’m an Arsenal fan…:)

  8. Sandra says:

Not crazy about the hair but would still be seen with him as hot as he is. I know he has sisters so one of the them should have told him this is not a good look to try. Maybe he was going for that just outta the shower look? I think he coulda pulled it off if he was wearing only a towel wrapped around his hips!

  9. MrsJamieRedknapp says:

Mrs Alonso, you hang your head in shame. What’s more GO TO YOUR ROOM, and don’t come out until you are rational again.
At least you were only perving at the bod, not saying that he looks hot with slicky icky hair to match his personality.
But now I have to confess that I only saw your comment because I clicked to view the bod.
    *hangs head in mutual shame*

  10. Ella says:

I actually like this hairstyle on him, and I’m not exactly a fan. Not a hater either, but more like.. meeh.

  11. Malin says:

My God. I have to say, in reality I am a true Nando-lover (that boy brings me down to the level of a giggly fourteen year old…) and most of my friends hates Cristano with an impressive passion, but I just can’t help myself, I find him oddly attractive, regardless of all the sleezyness and the awfully tight jeans and for God’s sake, the man-bag. Well, Okay, I also do find the whole hooker thing rather disgusting, but that does not make him less hot, physically…

And I must shamefully admit that I did find that hairstyle quite hot…

I also agree with TFO, he should need that older woman to teach him a few things. Were to buy his clothes, for a start. Pity I’m younger than him though… <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" />

  12. brandy says:

I don’t approve of the hair, but honestly, that last shirtless pic of him makes it all okay. With a bod like that, he can literally do whatever he wants with his hair.

Other players please take note of his chest and arms: they are muscular in an attractive way. Not overly “dry” and body-builderish like that Michah Richards and not all scrawny bean pole newly adolescent skinnyness that one sees in Torres, Alan Smith and the like.

Ballers, this is your goal. You want to be in the Finest Five? Make it happen!

I Am Also Not a Lover of The New Hair..
But The Body Makes It All Better.

  14. Sarah x says:

Im Not A Fan Of The ‘Slicked Back’ Hair ..But whatever Floats Your Boat Lol
    The Topless Pic Makes It All Better <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/raspberry.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="raspberry" style="border:0;" />

  15. ches says:

No, no, no, no, no! He should stick to his regular hairstyle, the spiky-ish one. Looks so much hotter. I’m a Ronaldo lover, but I reckon his hottness points drop when he has that slicked back hair.

  16. michelle TN says:

Elise, OMG! I too am also a Fabregas hater LOL! well it cools off when he’s not scoring so much against Liverpool and Cristiano’s team.

The slick hair I’m not liking so much. I like it much better when it’s shorter. He needs a haircut.

  17. Nina says:

I totally agree, it suits not only his off-pitch-clothing but also his on-pitch-attitude… BUT for me that

  18. Elise says:

Kickette, I laughed at your ‘haters move on’ line! I’m not a Ronaldo hater, but I don’t like him much either. (I currently do most of my ‘deep, deep, from the pit of my soul’ hating on Fabregas- I hate even thinking his damned name to type it! ) But I clicked through anyway, and I have to say I did enjoy the shirtless thing. That body is just about perfect, isn’t it? My God. But then it goes back to the recently discussed face/body dichotomy. I just don’t like his face. (It’s mostly about the mouth.) BUT, I do think he’s really working the Goodfellas hair! And it suits that attitude he’s been showing lately on the pitch when he scores- like he’s just so completely bored with the whole thing, like ‘of course I scored, whatev’! LOL!

  19. Nina says:

That looks just terrible… But to be honest, matches with the clothes he wears off pitch… little sleazy!

  20. carly says:

Maybe he’s trying to replace Banderas from all the latin-roles in hollywood wink

  21. dami says:

Even with the hair he is still so sexy.Crisstaino Ronaldo looks good all the time i mean how can u not love him.

  22. klyn312 says:

first I want to start by saying that i heart you kickette… for years now I have had to bite my tongue about things like CR’s hair don’t last Sat… I can now smile sheepishly to myself and know you girls are thinking/noticing the same thing (as WELL AS THE ACTUAL MATCH).

and secondly.. who can be bothered with looking at the his hair once the shirt comes off??? YUM!

  23. c9 says:

Thanks kickette for posting this picture, I’ve been waiting for this to pop up! Such a gorgeous man!
Who cares what his hair looks like?! Most of us are not paying any attention to his hair anyway…REALLY! There are much more important aspects of Cris to look at, like the bod, the SMILE and most of all the skill on the pitch that allowed him to score another GOAL against Villa.
PLEASE feed me more Cristiano pics and news!

  24. j says:

Cristiano, what were you thinking? I know you scored, but seriously-Don’t. Do. That. Again. And Robin, I don’t think I want to know how much product he used on Saturday- the answer will probably shock me into staying in my room for a week.
But the shirtless pic made me happy smile

  25. saintscholes says:

ahahaha, i was wondering what was up with the gel helmet! his hairline’s not the most flattering… who’d have thought a part could be so desirable. dude definitely kicked the ego up a notch to coincide with the slick ‘do… at least he pulled out a goal, otherwise i’d be in far dimmer spirits about the ‘08 hair.

  26. The Fourth Official says:

Yes, admittedly, his hair is going through a stage lately. What to do? Perhaps Cristiano needs to have an affair with an older, polished, sophisticated woman who can guide him in such matters. I volunteer.

  27. Robin says:

Mrs. I just can’t get past the face – no clicking on pics for me!
And he looks like a Mafioso-wannabe. And can you IMAGINE the amount of product needed to keep his hair in that position while he’s playing? Yuck.

  28. MrsXabiAlonso says:

Oh im all confused, I am a true hater but I couldnt resit clicking to have a look at the topless piccy!!

Whats happening to me???? *hangs head in shame*

  29. Alcohol Rehab Progra says:

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best soccer players in the world and all you have to say is that his hair style is not trendy?
