Does Claire Deserve Half?

imageThierry Henry’s ex-wife, Claire Merry, may have to fight her way through the courts to get her hands on the good paper that makes the WAG world go round.

A while back, when Claire and Thierry first split, she vowed to “take him to the cleaners” over his alleged infidelities.

Claire is after a massive £10 million from Thierry, btw, but he’s not planning on giving up his cash too easily. Via his people, he’s told Claire to prepare for a long battle in court.

So heres the question, Kickettes: if Titi has indeed been a naughty boy, should he be taken to the cleaners? Where is the line drawn over martial material goods and services?

As we all wait for the historic day that the court system introduces a mandatory ex-wife credit card/Harvey Nicks account divorce maintenance set up we have to ask: does Claire really deserve that much of Thierry’s cash?

Random: When the time comes that we have to put “sarcasm/witty repartee” disclaimers on everything we write, it’s a sad, sad day in WAGalicious reportage.

Hey. Can't stand these women who want to take their ex husbands to the cleaners. Regardless of her "contribution" to marriage Thierry would have made it on account of his skill with or without her. Sure, give her a few hundred thousand which will enable her to have a reasonable standard of living. She should then have to get a job and work to earn her living. Keren (baby monitors with camera)

She should get half. HE CHEATED. HE abandonned that marriage. She had their child, basically ending her career as a model (her ability to make her own money). They were married. End of story. He is the asshole here. Why should she and her daughter have to live a different lifestyle than when they were a family? Especially when he is the one to blame here. It would be so unfair for him to actually have his cake and eat it too.

These kind of celebrity divorce cases make me feel somewhat iffy, to be honest. Particularly the ones in which one or both parties are accused of infidelity. I agree with The Fourth Official and to most of the commentators that she should, at the very least, get child support and shared custody (instead of being left with nothing). Not so sure about asking for 10 million for alimony, though. Personally, I'm one to side with the person being spurned by the ex, unless said person makes a fool of oneself in a public forum. Then, my sympathies will shift dramatically from one side to another.

burnxthisxcity, I agree. Not a single penny!

UMM…. SHE IS HIS WIFE AND THE MOTHER OF HIS CHILDREN! She is not mooching off of him. She was raising their daughter and supporting his career and their family life.

As for Mr. James Porteous of the Harold…He seems bitter and without either a sense of humor or fun of any kind. Seriously dolly, Thighs ARE Important! BTW, his attemps to be snarky were amusing in their complete failure. Baby, you have got to bring it harder if you are going to play with the big girls

  7. HoneyBee says:

I definitely think she deserves a lot of money but half is too much.Maybe a half of what he earned during their marriage.Of course Henry should make shore that his daughter is well provided for.But I think it would be better to sit down with him and lower her demands otherwise she will have to give a lot of the money she gets from him to lawyers. And btw don't these people realize that their daughter will be able to read about this some day? DON'T WORRY KICKETTE-We love your "sarcasm/witty repartee" and it's well appreciated it gives us a lot of fun.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.Some people are just envious of your success and army of Kickette loving women and even men.

  8. The Fourth Official says:

Thanks, FC43, but seriously, at my age, it gets to the point where half of the couples I know are going through this. 90% of the chitchat on the golf course or at the gym is who is divorcing who and how much is she getting. :-/ It's very sad.

I know that I posted this in the original comment section, but I am still trying to work out this whole Kickette/Firefox thing. Anyhow, here’s my two cents for whatever it’s worth. I do not think that a man, or woman for that matter, should be penalized financially over infidelities. I do think that a certain amount, based on income, should be awarded to the spouse depending on many factors, including childcare, giving up a career for the marriage and family. I do not think that money should be awarded based on the type of “lifestyle” that one has become accustomed to. To that I say, get a better job, or at least get a job, and realize that, in this case, most of what you have Claire, including your notoriety as a WAG, is based upon your ex-husbands athletic prowess, not yours. Be happy that you have what you do, a beautiful child, a roof over your head, a closet full of clothes and shoes that most of here at Kickette would kill for, and finally, the probability of a few million pounds coming your way.

I honestly don't know much about the divorce or what went on during the marriage, but I think TFO should be a lawyer. No joke – that was absolutely amazing.

God..Wtf is up with the dress?.

  22. Merry has already been granted a quickie divorce and she now wants 10 million pounds of Henrys fortune, based on his 130,000 pounds-a-week earnings.

  23. It looks like it could be a messy fight; She’s hired Fiona Shackleton, the lawyer who represented Macca, and he’s responded by hiring Heather Mill’s lawyers.

  24. LIESEL says:

The fact is that Thierry Henry didn’t want to be with this wife anymore. Simple as. Should he be punished for that, probably not. Should he have to stayed for the rest of his life wiith someone he no longer loves? NO.

Would you want someone to stay with you, even though they no longer love nor want to be with no. I wouldn’t. So a rational person should think, forget it, you go and I’m better on my own and hopefully will meet somone who actually wants to be with me.

However life is not like that is it. So the best way Ms Merry can get back at Mr Henry is through his wallet. Is it right, no but how else can she hurt him.

So I’d say Ms Merry is entitled to some money, for the upkeep of her daughter, but not to keep her in a lifestyle that she may have been accustomed to. Without Mr Henry she no longer has that lifestyle. After all she can always go and fine another Mr Henry. Yes life is unfair and often crap.

However if he was my ex and had left me, yes I would probabaly nail his *alls to my purse and take him for every penny I could. Is that right? of course not but it may hurt him as much as he has hurt me. Petty I know, but its some way for revenge.

We’re all kids underneath that adult exterior.

hope she gets her share. even though all the money in the world couldn’t make up for the pain of infidelity. she deserves the money and he could def spare some….

Honestly, I can't give a good opinion on this. Since I dont know what really went on, and I have no idea what it it feels like to be in a situation like that, so… what ever happens, happens. Eitherway though money is at stake, more importantly a kid is in the middle of it all…

  30. burnxthisxcity says:

She doesn't deserve a penny, purely because of that dress.

  31. cristina_juve says:

She should at least get child support and alimony.

  32. Becca says:

Hasnt she got the child? because she should be worth more then any money. sorry to get all technical.

  33. The Fourth Official says:

Wow, talk about not having a sense of humour!!! The Herald needs to lighten up (and spend more time around here.) Don't let it bother you, Kickette, we always know when you're being sarcastic and witty. :) Now about more important matters. The Divorce. My theory (based on many many friends who have gone through this, sadly) is that the couple should subtract the assets they went into the marriage with, and then look at the situation. Did she have her own income/career, or was she the homemaker/mother to his children/entertained his business colleagues/acted the supportive spouse etc? Then factor in the cause of the divorce: did he cheat/did she cheat/abuse etc? It becomes very very complicated. But basically, I say Claire shouldn't walk away with less than 5 mil. And obviously child support. And possibly spousal support, if she doesn't have a job at the moment.

Lol @ Kickette hatemail. Once again, it's catty boys desperately trying to convince us that football, like Internet, is serious business. <img src="http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/9448/138992949523c98d0a62oxs0.jpg" alt="Serious Business"> google

What is she wearing?!? That is a frightening look, not a penny! This chick needs to make some money for herself, not mooch off of people who really have lives.

  38. Moongirl says:

Regardless of what he says now she'll get her money!

  39. Dee13 (mrs m metze) says:

agreed TammyV and TFO… maybe not 10 million but something to account for her time spent as wife/mother being cheated on (if it’s true), etc, etc…

  40. Mrs. Podolski says:

The money should not be the number one priority people forget that when a child or children are involved that they should be the main focus of both parties. Before they even start talking about money, ten million dollars is a lot of money my opinion is if she put time into. The marriage as a wife and mother then she should have a portion of the money.
