England NT: Training Report

Gareth? We feel your pain. Image: Getty Images/Daylife

Far be it from us to throw stones at ‘in-play’ fashion faux pas’ (anyone who’s caught a glimpse of us on a staff night out would confirm we aren’t exactly ‘catwalk ready’ as frequently as we might have you believe) but it would be inappropriate of us not to comment on some of the decisions on display in the England training session yesterday.

The world is waiting for our musings, y’know.

While everyone else was focussing on John Terry’s (re) coronation as captain yesterday, we were more interested in the ‘shorter’ shorts/over the knee socks combo he chose to face the world in on the pitch at London Colney. While we’ve reluctantly learned to live with the sock thing, we just can’t get over the shrinking tent container. It’s giving us the sartorial shivers.

And that’s before we’ve started on Wayne Rooney’s ‘homage to golf’ lower half. Even Gareth Barry (top) was bewildered by that one.

Look. We have no beef with you England boys as a team. We could’ve just chosen Joey Hart (above left) to represent, in which case we would have simply allowed our eyes to glaze over and filed the pics in our ‘special’ draw.

It’s just that if you’re in the middle of a media storm and are likely to have your picture taken, at least have the decency to observe the rules of engagement so we can perv on you.

M’kay?

Though I do not care for Chelsea at all, I really respect Lamps and JT because they are two of the most dedicated footballers I have ever seen. Say what you will about their personal lives, but these men care so much about their club and country. I'm glad he got it back.

Dreading the game this weekend. absolutely dreading it. Have decided to go shopping rather than watch it. I'm incredibly patriotic however choosing Gary Speed as manager over Lars Lagerback makes me sick. The FAW need to sort themselves out otherwise awesome (read: hot) players such as Ramsey and Bale will never grace a major international tournament with their fine selves. Sorry, fine skills ;-)

    Yeah… Barry's expression is somewhat cute.. :)

Beautiful, just beautiful!!! John, I mean. I absolutely love him and am beyond thrilled to see him restored to his rightful place as England Captain. I wept so many tears for him when the armband was taken away and now that it has been restored, I'm weeping tears of joy. Seriously, this is better than winning the league. I am so very proud of him. He promised Capello and the world to continue to give everything for England and do all that he could to win back the armband, even when he was told it would never happen. But he never gave up and now he has done just what he said! …to be continued…

He could have gone off and sulked, but he didn't because that's not who he is. Instead, he continued to show the passion, conviction, leadership and plain old hard work that John Terry has always been known for, even among those who do not like him. And I recognise, that like John said, he's not everyone's cup of tea, but to the Chelsea fans who know and love him, we just feel sorry for everyone else who doesn't. I'm not insulting anyone else's captain, just speaking from the heart. I'm sure those who love Rio and those who love Steven feel the same about their own. I have no issues which either of those guys and will be pleased to have both of them fit and back in the squad. GO ENGLAND!!!

Mr. Monotone Terry maybe have some fashion issues, but someone please tell Rooney this is a football match NOT a golf tournament!!! This does not bode well for his chances of getting the ball into the back of the net!!

Lol at Gareth Barry's "Wayne, wtf man" face

Oh, I'm DELIGHT (… exactly he said yesterday in when he met the media…) that my mistress, my honey, my beloved has finally came back. He've always had trust in him, and I've always known that he was the best for the role…You know that I'm speaking about my first passion, captain fantastic (Is there someone who can understand me? But if not, I don't care)

Well, a second thing. Wayne Rooney looks horrible yesterday, no sense of style, even if he was on the pitch. I think that the face of Gareth Barry (I think that he was looking at Wayne) is enough to confirm this.

Everyone has their own opinions, but for me JT is perfection. The way he handles himself in press conferences, I think, is respectful and dignified. Always speaks well of other players, looks the media guys straight in the eyes when speaking and doesn't hide away from difficult questions. There is no doubt in my mind that this man is a leader and an inspiration, regardless of what is written about him or what other people may think. He's my "cup of tea" ;)

  12. Leya_S says:

Lol, Kickette! I love Gareth Barry's face!
I'm not sure which is worse, frankly, b/t JT's mini-shorts-and-socks and Rooney's man-pris. I would have to go with Rooney's golf look. Mind you, I always think the training man-pris are weird. That being said, even Joe Hart can't work those (he still looks thoroughly adorable, though).

    Where is JT's arm?
