England NT: Youth Over Experience

Tom Cleverley. Almost certainly caught Stuart Pearce’s attention during his recent appearance on Kickette. Images: REUTERS/Toby Melville, REUTERS/Darren Staples.

Uncapped cuties Tom Cleverley and Frazier Campbell have been named in Stuart Pearce’s squad to face the Netherlands at Wembley next Wednesday.

Also benefitting from Pearce’s temporary appointment to ‘The Toughest Job In Football™’ is forgotten-under-Fabio defender Micah Richards, while hotly tipped Adorkable Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t make the cut, with Pearce stating “if we elevated him into the senior squad and he played for 10 minutes then I can’t see what the footballing education would be.”

Other surprise omissions included Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand, although the word is that “the door is not closed” to the veterans. Same as our office boudoir door then. Any time you feel like stopping by, lads.

The whole squad list is available for perusal here. Initial thoughts, Kickettes?

Sexy and I know it, even if I’m doing something wrong

Good to see that Mr. Pearce isn't afraid to upset the apple cart. I'm glad Micah's finally been called up. He deserves it!

I'm sure AVB will be blamed for Frank not being called up but, personally, I don't think Frank's been in good form when he is on the pitch.

Meh, I don't see the appeal of Tom Cleverly. Personally I find Henderson much cuter (and funnier after that Talking Balls interview with Chris Cohen)! :)
