Euro 2012 In Pictures: Croatia vs Spain, Italy vs Republic of Ireland
During Monday’s Group C games, we were:
- Pleased that Niko Kranjcar found his razor in time;
- Curious about Fernando Torres’s possible use of bronzer in the first half; and
- Wondering why Kevin Doyle wore his kit instead of his Everyman towel (surely it would’ve been worth the last ditch effort?).
Once things were all said and done, we were:
- Delighted to see how Ireland and Croatia “reacted” to their losses; and
- Shocked at the lack of celebratory girlish face tickles exchanged after Italy advanced into the tournament’s next round (although there was that Balotelli face gag by Bonucci that folks are buzzing about).

I'm conflicted about Spain's win. I'm probably the only person here who's sad about Croatia. They played some great attacking football (thanks, Ramos, for that nasty tackle on their best striker and then poor Corluka getting the yellow instead). As my friend said, Modric looked like he was in the wrong shirt! I was really hoping both teams would go through.
On the other hand, I'm happy for Navas' getting the winning goal. Oh well. Time to give all my love to Spain, then. In return, VDB owes me some Mata/Santi/Llorente time on the pitch, OK.
I'm kind of sad about it, I'm not a fan but I think they put on better performances than Italy. They deserved to move on, it's a shame they couldn't hold on a bit longer. That being said, people need to learn that they can't stop playing just because they think a call should be made! If the ref doesn't call it, you have to keep playing! that goal could have been prevented
No, I agree with you. Croatia didn't deserve to lose. Spain weren't their usual selves last night and really only caught a lucky break.

We did really well. We didn't deserve to lose, but I guess we didn't deserve to win either. Some major decisions went the Spanish way but that's just how it goes sometimes. In the end we lacked that bit of experience I guess, to push it through. Good luck to the rest of the tournament.

. And that little Jesus scored made me so happy! Andres and Jesus in collaboration, it couldn't be better! And you know, it wouldn't be Ramos if he didn't give someone a nasty tackle.
I don't see how is Ramos tackle is nasty! I watched replays like in slow motion to see it, anyway! It looked worse because player got injured, but all he did he played for the ball!
Croatia might be the best team who got eliminated, played against yes against not very good La Roja, you had your chances, but as your coach said Bilic we have Casillas, if it was any other goal keeper you would have scored! I felt bad for Croatia for not qualifying, I thought they deserved to be in quarter more than some teams who are in it right now, but that's football.
I am not convinced with our way playing to start with.

OMG – I love the photo of Balotelli and Shay Given! Only just seen it. Given looks really reluctant and Balotelli is like "Come on, you know you want to."
oh i actually cried when my Azzurris advanced to the next level. they really did deserve it, fantastic team but still so much more potential in it! god only knows how much i love buffon for being…well buffon!
but it is quite a shame that the irish couldn't make it…amazing fans and absolutly sympathetic boys on that team!

A guy I know who was at the Spain v Ireland match caught Iker's jersey when he threw it into the crowd, lucky thing!
Yeah, we played better against Italy than we did for the other matches (when I say better, I mean slightly less awful). I hate criticising them but Giovanni Trapattoni must have a screw loose if he thinks leaving out decent players who are doing good things in the EPL like Seamus Coleman, James Mc Carthy and James Mc Clean in favour of the ones he continues to play is a good idea. Some of his tactics have been so off the mark they fail to make any sense! Anyhoo, rant over.
Ah, the everyman towel, I got quite a thrill from that…..still covered up too much though, would have preferred the route Matt Jarvis took with his Everyman pose….oh well, he's naked in my dreams all the time anyway!
It's a shame Ireland are out because I think they have the best fans ever. I was so impressed with their singing when they were losing to Spain. Maybe that's some consolation. And there's always the World Cup.
