Europa League Results: Fulham, Atlético Madrid to The Final

Image via Reuters

Though some may say the Europa League lacks the luster of a leather couch, we were ready to embrace watching this “consolation” cup once we opened our eyes to Fulham’s inner beauty…’ya know, the abs beneath the surface layer kit.

As such, we’re fine-tuning our attractiveness analysis to include a grandfather clause: teams that aren’t top of the hottie totty food chain can succeed if they get naked willingly and often.

For example, while Fulham may not be as collectively pretty as Fernando Torres in the stands, they peel off the layers come crunch time. Thus, we are claiming partial victory on our long-held footie results system: the universe (justly) rewards the better-looking amongst us; it also rewards those that remove their clothing to give their abs some air. Facts are facts.

Kickettes, will you be watching the tournament’s finals? While the only English team left standing in Europe will be in our hearts, Atlético Madrid’s Diego Forlan and his abs will be in our loins. (Oh and there are many, many more shots if you’re so inclined.)

    I could stare all day…

  3. Leslie (Hotspur Wench) says:

Ok, I have to stray from the Nando situ for a sec to say I saw highlights of the game when Forlan showed off his man chest and nearly had a hotflash. OMG. From his neck down, he is hawt.

Also, congrats Fulham and Nando def needs a haircut. Peace!

  4. gise says:

I was so happy for Fulham, I really do hope they win it.

  5. Nico says:

Please, Nando, do us all a favour and cut your hair. I shall pay for it myself.

Clint Dempsey had a brilliant day… he helped his team get to their club’s first final and he got a big-ass billboard in Midtown Manhattan http://yfrog.com/jdzijtj

As an American, I love Fulham and the way they have always treated my boys… So congrats to them and I will be cheering my voice out for them!

    • senora ramos says:

i love that billboard. so fierce and full of swag! :D

he's the reason i'm so excited for fulham and have been pulling for them!

    • trista_jade says:

Yes!! I was following the game yesterday and was so excited that Clint was a part of the build up for the first goal!! I love our USMNT boys!! I will definitely cheer for Clint and Fulham in the final!!!

I feel like laughing at Liverpool

    • Jessica says:

      I am laughing at liverpool.

      • Thea says:

me to – they have decended into a joke. Wonder how long the players will stick around now that there be no 4th place!

        • Jessica says:

Yeah, I wonder how exactly they're going to get the "5 world class players" they are sure they're buying, when they have no champions league?!

  8. Erin says:

Big congrats to Fulham, they have really done themselves proud in the Europa League. Very happy for them to be in the final!

Disappointing night for us Liverpool supporters, in what has been a hugely frustrating season for so many reasons. But I'm proud of all of our boys–they played their hearts out last night in very difficult circumstances. But one blip season does not a disaster make, and I still have all the faith in the world. I will always be behind them, whether they finish 1st or 17th. Our club and our supporters are special. At the end of the storm is a golden sky… :)

    • Erin says:

Oh, and Torres can wear pippy longstocking braided pigtails for all I care….I just want him on the pitch! Heal quickly, doll.

    • Jessica says:

not to sound rude or anything, genuin question, what were your “difficult circumstances”?

      • Erin says:

Numerous injuries, no real out-and-out striker, players playing out of position, reserves on the bench….not to mention the general instability of the club coming to a head with rumours swirling and media salivating all over it. That's the tip of the iceberg anyway.

  9. senora ramos says:

needless to say i am very unhappy with half of this result. yea fulham!! but errrrrr! atleti. you’ve got to be kidding me! ::angry:: i’m disappointed that liverpool couldn’t take them out. but it’s hard to count on a team with all those injuries. (btw not a ‘pool fan, just a fan of anyone who plays atletico)

    • Thea says:

Ah well Ramos – you can't get everything you want in life and I guess you'll be happy with no Catalans at the Bernabeau! Is it my imagination (remember I've been suffering with Post Traumatic Stress) or is Torres looking like his mid gender change? He's turning into a girl!

      • senora ramos says:

i swear to god i thought it was a woman that time. and to think it thought he was so hot in '06!

and i'm allowed to be selfish! actually i hate them way more than i hate y'all. don't ask! but yes, i know you are hurting but i am very happy y'all won't be there. sorry.

  10. p4ng says:

    oh,,, *crying*

    Ynwa REDS!

  11. trista_jade says:

I need Nando to cut his hair…now. Shouldn't a member of the F5 not look like a girl?? Just saying… ;)

  12. rubyqueen19 says:

awwwwwwww how cute does ickle nando look.???it must of been so hard for him watching his current team play his boyhood club.!!!!!awww xxx

  13. Thea says:

Well I have Jose/ Figo and Inter so much right now – I will let your poor taste slide! You were good with the Yoann photos! I propose a truce till after the WC. See what the new season brings.. but is RM get Jose, your a$$ is mine!

    • senora ramos says:

well, how about may 17th we have our truce :D

and yes, what was i thinking? nando?! at least that's when my crush began on ramos (hey, he is hot. i can't help it.) as you can tell, i obvs have a thing for guys with long hair (though i never actually dated anyone with long hair).

and if jose comes to us, know upfront, that i will not be happy about it. i'm a supporter of manu staying (at least so we have some continuation 1 yr to the next). and i really don't want to watch boring ass antifootball week in and week out!

      • Thea says:

Barca may be down, but if they loose la liga it’s cause they GAVE it to you, which ain’t gonna happen. They will probably get the title due to the better head to head record.

        • senora ramos says:

see, i knew you didn't want to draw a truce yet! lol! i realise y'all would've given it to us, but i find myself caring less and less. and love, if y'all draw or lose tomorrow, we won't have same point dif. we're only 1 pt behind now :D

now, doesn't this make you feel a little better to be arguing with a merengue? lol!

          • Thea says:

ramos – Barca are just not gonna roll over – they will fight on, and whatever happens they won’t have to explain why 259 euros could not get them any better results.

        • MrsNesta says:

Hi Thea, hope you’re feeling a little better? And whoever has the most points or better goal difference will win la liga hehe lolol :)

          • Thea says:

am back to my usual fiesty self now thanks! If it goes to a draw on points then Barca will win because they won both Classicos!

  14. p4ng says:

And btw; Torres! CUT YOUR HAIR :( <3

  15. Linda (Gooner till I says:

I'm so happy for Fulham! :)
