I'm pretty sure Trekker applies to those who are fans but don't speak fluent Klingon or wear the Spok ears and stuff… like on a daily basis. They're fans, but have other interests, etc. I think Trekkies are the ones people make fun of. :/ (Source: my Trekker roommate) In a parallel universe, I have the same issues w/ being a comic book fan and being wholly irritated w/ 'fanboys'. They give comics a bad name. Honestly, it's a horrendous outfit, but I commend her for having a sense of fun. I think it would have been better if she wore an actual Star Trek uniform.

To be fair it is in line with the theme of the film and she has the figure for it. So as long as she doesn’t want to wear that outfit anywhere else, I don’t see why not.

Fashion is allowed to be fun, and for that I salute Claire. She got into the spirit of things, <s>whilst assuring column inches</s>. Brave, and clever, girl.
Well if there ever WAS a place to wear something like this… the premiere of Star Trek might be one of them. You know there are tons of fans that are going to the movie wearing completely off the wall clothes. Why not have her do it too? It's pretty entertaining. Trekker/Trekkie… it all depends on who you're talking to, though Leonard Nimoy prefers Trekker. I'll go with Spock on this one I think… Trekker it is, even though Trekkie is far catchier.
When I first saw the pic without reading the text I hoped she was at a Trekkie convention (Trekkie in UK for some reason) so a premiere is ok. Other than that I'm speechless.

Well, I admire her for being bold. I think a lot of fans/people will have appreciated it. She can get away with it, because it was at the Star Trek premiere. If it would have been any other place, I would have thought she forgot to take of her gymnastics suit after class.
I like her choosing of necklace to with the suit, very sharp!
