Frank Lampard Calls Radio Station to Defend Himself

imageHere’s the lesson of the day: Don’t talk smack about Frank Lampard on the radio.

After hearing James O’Brien on LBC 97.3 talking about his split with Elen Rives, Frank angrily called the station to defend himself over the host’s implications that he’s a bad dad.

“The hardest part of this whole break-up has been not waking up with my kids every day.  Do you think I am happy?“

Frank was also seriously pissed that this discussion was even going on during the one year anniversary of his mother’s death.

Listen to the ten minute blast here (but you have to register and pay for the privilege): Frank Lampard on LBC

I thought it was really sweet that he defended Elen's honor in this as well as his own. Thought, it could have been better with a golf club, like that time he beat down that pap's motorcycle for stalking his kids

That is so sad. he speaked brilliantly. (here’s a youtube link if anyone find it more comfortable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwbEBncB7rc&eurl )

Ugh Elen annoys me… she is obviously bitter that Lampsy is no longer her meal ticket anymore, he shouldn't have to endure comments about him being a bad dad. He loves his children and just because the relationship didn't work out doesn't make him a deadbeat.

Heard this on the news then and what he had to say. He also said a brief thing about his mother passing away too. :/ Okay, so I might not like him being a footballer and what not, we get that sometimes, but when it is personal, nobody needs this kind of thing in their life. I feel sorry for him because he said about not getting to see his children aswell. depressed

It makes for great entertainment for us all. Thanks, Frank!

He's absolutely right though. They are just one of so many couples going through the same thing. The difference for them though is that their public moves are recorded and relayed for all to view, comment on and dissect. Never really saw much in him before, but after listening to the conversation, I'm struck by how extremely well-spoken and level-headed he sounds even at such an emotional time. Hats off.

Well done Frank!! I am 100% behind you! :-) Frank has the right to do what he wants when he wants now that he is single, and it really is no ones business except his. It must be so terrible for him, around this time of year, so i definetly think the media should cut him some slack. And while im on a rant here, im sure he's an absolutely fantastic daddy, and Luna and Isla should be so proud of their daddy. Im with you, Frank :-) xxx

It's sad its got to the stage where he's had to publicly defend himself when he has done nothing wrong. BOO Elen!!

I was very impressed with how Frank eloquently and passionately defended himself against the DJ. Kudos to him for having the guts to defend himself in style, and put O'Brien in his proper place.

frank is a fantastic dad! at least his kids have a home…! i dont see my dad because his girlfriend said we wernt welcome in her home and he didnt do anything about it. i’d give anything for my dad to be like that! how can anyone possibly slate him for everything hes doing for luna and isla? i say we start a facebook group pronto!!

  16. Genevieve Gourcuff says:

Yay Frank!! Good on him for defending himself!! He – or any other celebrity for that matter – shouldn’t have to listen to randoms shooting their mouth off on the radio about things that a) they don’t know the full details of and b) don’t concern them anyway. He’s setting a great example for his little girls – go Lamps!

  17. FirstTeamCoach says:

So it is ok for Frank to talk in public about the break up but Elen gets slagged off for it! The media are always going to have a frenzy when celebrities break up. I would bet he still is Elen meal ticket and will be for life. The law here gives common law wifes the same rights as married ones. Did the media know it was the anniversary of his mums death?

  18. Becca says:

I listen to the interveiw, and well done for Frank. I felt so sorry for him listening to that, All these people in his business, thinking they know what going on. Calling him weak was not fair, and saying for a second that he doesnt do all he can for his girls is beyond a joke. People should just stop judging him, because it snot fair on him or his family. But he dont himself proud! I love this man beyond belief!

  19. Yasichelsea says:

I love it when people do this. Good on him, I wouldn’t listen to people talk a load of bull about me and keep my mouth shut.

  23. Elise says:

THAT was f*cking brilliant. Holy crap. I feel like I just talked to Frank *myself*. My heart was breaking for him, hearing him talk about his kids. And I’m sure it was even harder for him, given that it was the anniversary of his mom’s death. I can hardly believe it’s been a year already. But anyway, thanks Kickette. And, like the host of the show said in closing, ‘Thank you, Frank, for being a MAN.’

  24. FootballerChick43 - "Mrs.Ballack" says:

Kudos, Frank Lampard. That was by the far the most amazing thing I ever read/heard in my life. I thought my heart was going to break in half listening to him… especially when he said “Do you think I’m happy?” Amazing. Just furthers the many reasons why I absolutely adore this man.
