Getting Social: Gonzalo Higuain & Gerard Pique
The introduction of ‘ballers to social networks is an phenomena that excites our hearts/loins and brings us more joy than baked goods with hidden travel-sized liqueurs inside.
While we previously crowned Rio Ferdinand as King of the Twitterverse, another contender is emerging as a spirited hopeful to steal away his crown.
That someone is Alvaro Arbeloa, who’s on a Twitter Mission to singlehandedly convert all of his Real Madrid teammates to the joys of 140 characters and Twitpics galore. So far Arbe’s persuaded Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, and now Mr. Shelf-Booty himself, Gonzalo ‘Pipita’ Higuain. This brings the current tally of RM folk on twitter to 7, with Fernando Gago, Kaka and of course Cristiano representin’ the club.
Apparently, Arbeloa is currently teaching Gonzalo the nuances of tweeting, and constructing the perfect background image that both encompasses his formidable ass and adorbs face to their fullest glory (we hope).
Who’s next on the Twitter convert list remains to be seen, but we would pay good Chanel to see The Special One let loose on the Twitterverse.

In other social networking news, Gerard Pique has booted up the laptop and decided to bring his lovely self over to Facebook. Here he can be seen to be discussing the relative merits of The Lovely Bones vs Green Zone, and snapping pictures of swanky hotel rooms.
We know. It’s riveting ish and we’re all over it.
Clever clogs Pique is taking a leaf out of Cesc’s book and Facebooking in English, Spanish and Catalan like the smartypants that he is. Can he be persuaded to join the growing legions of footballers on Twitter and join BFF Cesc, as well as teammates Iniesta and Puyol? That remains to be seen, but we love that we now have a legitimate outlet for all our stalking needs.

Pique belongs in Twitter–his banter with his BFF Cesc would be EPIC and the explosion would give birth to a whole new planet.
Arbeloa is steadily moving up on my fave 'baller list for his dedication to the cause. Also, posting pics of his hot Spain and Real Madrid teammates and stalking coordinates is a definite plus.
I wish every football team were like Corinthians FC on internet.
Most of Corinthians players have twitter accounts and their tweets are hilarious because they always tease and interact with eachother via twitter. Ronaldo (3 times best player of the world / the guy that has most goal on world cups / one of the best players in football history – his twitter is @claroronaldo) has been launching some twitcam video chats with his fans when the team is in the hotel. And it's pretty funny because he reply to question of his fans and he takes his laptop around the hotel to show the other players of the team (like for example Roberto carlos – ex player of real madrid / brazilian national team) and let them take part of the video chat too. =D It's hilarious!
I hope Gorcuff creates a twitter account too!!!! But I think it's very unlikely, he'd do that.
Pique is just too cute and adorable! But I do hope he also gets a twitter account.
I love Alvaro's twitter because his tweets are funny and sweet. Some days ago while Higuain was changing his nickname, Alvaro said something like: Pipita needs time to find his identity on Twitter.

Didn't Pato, Ronaldinho and Elano post naked pictures of themselves a few years ago? Speaking of pics, Juliano Belletti has posted some hilarious ones of him and his family. Those naked pictures were fake. LOL. Someone spread fake photoshoped pictures of football players and actors… But those pictures were all proven to be fake and photoshoped by specialists.
Besides that,
Ronaldinho isn't active on twitter (his twittter is updated by his PR team like Cristiano ronaldo's twitter), Pato doesn't have twitter and Elano is a devoted christian like Kaka. =P
The only disappointing thing about this is that they can't 'like' each other on fb – what's the point in both cesc and pique having facebook pages if they can't use them for mutual admiration!

When I said I was a Pique stalker I was saying it as a joke. Now that everyone is bearly finding out about his FB I feel like a certified stalker. I had known about this for a long time now and I assumed his other fans did too. I don't know whether to feel proud or send an anonymous letter to him warning of me, lol. I have a twitter account and a FB account but I rarely use them. I don't have anyone who drives the need inside for me to check constantly. If Pique would get one or Xavi, who by the way gives out info on his teammates all the time, I would be on it 24/7 =)
Hate to nag specially to fellow fans/kickettes but if you are going to be one of those gals that twitters the following: "anwer me, I won't stop until I get a reply" at least make sure you are twittering the right person. Alvaro Arbeloa had a girl saying this and he finally said something like hi, but you really want Raul Albiola here's his twitter. The girl called him raul albiola… seems nuts right? Anyway, Xavi & Pique would do it for me. At least he was polite. But if Cesc can't convince Pique of getting a twitter no one can!

Kun Aguero announced the same thing nearly a month ago, but better – when he reached 300,000 followers, he will pick two names out of a hat and play FIFA 11 with one winner (face to face if they are in Spain or online if they are abroad) and send a signed shirt to another winner. You can see a video of him calling up the winners on his website, very cute.. Very creative idea and such fun for the fans!

Btw I love kaka b/c he actually uses Twitter for good too. No one can forget the infamous “real men don’t buy girls” campaign but he also brought awareness and urged people to donate to Pakistan.
