GQMF Plus One: Sami Khedira & Lena Gercke

Good heavens. We hope you warmed your hands first, Sami! Images via gq-magazin.de.

Avert your eyes, Kickettes! We haven’t revealed this much flesh on the site in one go since Tim Howard was kind enough to get his nekkid on for ESPN, and our server collapsed under the weight of our rampant lust.

Despite appearances, it’s all above board and not remotely under-the-counter in a brown paper bag. In fact, it’s Sami Khedira and Lena Gercke’s GQ shoot, which appears in the latest edition of the German version of the mag. This is actually one of the less steamy shots – others include ‘in bed with Sami and Lena’ plus a very fetching one of Sami in a smart dressing gown. Which we know you’ve been desperate to see.

A note of caution: last time we got all over excited about a couple getting hot ‘n heavy on a magazine cover, they had a bubba and then broke up. We sure hope that doesn’t happen again.

We’d feel awful guilty…

how cheap her is…i never saw a footballer like him!!!! sooo ashamed of you!!! of you love her that much…don't sell her photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope you'd be out of MADRID NOW….HALA MADRID….

  2. Amy says:

Just to clear something up – Lena is the moderator of the "Top Model" spin-off (also its first winner in Germany). She was famous long before he was because, unlike the American versions of the winners, Germany's winners go on to become successful models. I had heard of her long before I had heard of Sami Khedira. So if anyone wants to suggest that she is "using" him for publicity you are quite wrong. This is a top model in her natural habitat – on the cover of a magazine – the difference is that she let him come along.

  3. littlegreenpea says:

It is a men's magazine. They're not going to put a naked man on the cover. But I still don't like the concept.

  4. dominique says:

    ewww

  5. con2e says:

No one cares! Sami Khediri is a bit player at Real Madrid . He could be playing ping pong with an elephant and it would have the same import. The elephant would be more attractive.

  6. JCJ says:

Gosh, I feel like I am intruding …

  7. AnnaBlume says:

I don't get what people are getting so worked up about. Sure, the picture they've chosen for the cover might be a little much, but both of them look great (plus, the other pictures are pretty cute), so where's the harm? Lena is a professional model, it's not like she's never done a sexy photo shoot before.
It's a magazine for men, so, of course, they would use a pic like this for the cover. If it was a women's magazine and it was Sami who was naked I don't think anyone would complain.

  8. Carvivlie says:

Would she have gotten her own spread without him in the pictures? I think not. She's using him and he's using her. Has either been accused of having class? I think not.

    • AnnaBlume says:

She very well might have. She' s actually been well-known in Germany for quite a few years now.

    • Jenny says:

She's one of Germany's most prominent models. She's on magazine covers all the time. He probably couldn't have got the spread without her sad but true.

  9. Floralys says:

Here's a video with some clips of the shooting, in German though:

  10. Christinalfp says:

If Sami and Lena are o.k. with it, I dont understand why some of you are so offended. You can have your opinion about it.

  11. Green 4 says:

Not to sound old fashioned, but why would any man want his girlfriend portrayed like that??

  12. Catie2838 says:

With her totally naked and him fully clothed, it just makes her look like a toy. Now, if they were both naked I think it would change the tone of the whole thing. But this, this is just cheap.

  13. Malinka says:

    her face looks heavily photoshopped

  14. aisling says:

I think it looks very tacky. Why would you want your girlfriends bits flashing all over the place for everyone to see and as for her good greif woman leave abit to the imagination.

    • Jenny says:

"Why would you want your girlfriends [sic] bits flashing all over the place for everyone to see" – it's not up to him. Implying it is up to him, or that it reflects on him in any way is rather…I hesitate to say it…sexist.

For him to object to her choices in her career would be sexist too. we can argue about whether it's in good taste or not – that's another debate – but it's not up to him.

  15. Sasha Twen says:

I wasn't argueing against your point, you know. Just wondering why people are even surprised.

    • Sasha Twen says:

Now, can we get back to happily objectifying men? Which is why we're here?

      • Kristina says:

Objectification is about how you choose to portray someone. Not how you choose to see someone. I'm not gonna go into some gender theory discussion here since this is not the place and English is not my language. Let me just say that I'm not into pictures like those.

        • Sasha Twen says:

English isn't my language, either. The way I see it, any portrayal is a two-way communication. There's a sender and a receiver, and both have the power and the choice, to objectify. Neither are they independent of each other, nor does one exclusively dictate the other.

And I'm still not argueing against your point. I'm just saying we should remember we are discussing this on… well, kickette ;-)

          • Kristina says:

The word objectification means to reduce a person to an object. I don't think that is what we are doing in here. Not Kickette, not us. We admire the footballers for their skill, their personalities and, yes, for their looks. Just because you think someone is sexy in a picture you don't objectify them. But we admire them for what they do. To be sexist, or to objectify people is to want to belittle them in some way. And that can be done by positioning someone in a picture like the above. The set up of the picture wants to say something. And imo not something very appealing.

Now, I'm gonna watch some fine men play fine football.

            • Kistina says:

I don't have to justify myself, because I don't objectify them. Because if you read my comment above, objectification is to reduce someone to a less than human. And the pictures in here are not of that character. And 99% of the pictures of men in here are not sexist.

            • Maran says:

There is nothing crooked about the theory. I'm totally with Kristina. As I am most of the times, it seems. What Kristina is saying is that you can drool over a picture without being sexist about or objectifying the subject. She doesn't have to justify anything. Go on drooling Kristina!

        • Kristina says:

No you are completely wrong. Read my comments.

      • hbandshbreak says:

Good point. Getting in a tizzy about objectifying women on a site that happily objectifies men seems a bit rich. And god knows, I'm quite guilty of doing the latter. I assume that most of you are too or you wouldn't be here.

        • Maran says:

I'm not objectifying men, I just find them sexy sometimes. If you think long and hard about you will find it's not the same thing. Kristina is right.

  16. bri_saldana says:

I'm sure there's a lot of commentary that could be said about this pic but it's seriously hot…..my first reactions to the pic were honestly positive. I think they look great!

    • Rahman says:

Really it makes men erect. Do you really feel it great, if its urs??? (anyway I enjoyed this this too much)

  17. mata says:

Good grief, is nothing private any more.

  18. Emily says:

I think they look great, I don't see what some people are fussing over. Yeah, it's a bit sexist, it's GQ magazine. IT'S A MAGAZINE FOR MEN. They're a beautiful couple, I love it.

  19. Barbara says:

I guess when you're in love, you want to show everyone how good your girlfriend/boyfriend looks ..without…their..clothes…? I don't really like photos like these, I don't think they're stylish or classy, but I guess someone does, or they wouldn't be in a magazine. It seems like they are trying to convince the readers what a great relationship they have. I don't know..

  20. Agnes Wonka says:

You know what's wrong with this pic? He was the one that should have been naked! xD

  21. Alone- Brazil says:

Mario Gomez is not for me no problem! Now they are very beautiful in the pictures, it is!

  22. Alone- Brazil says:

something tells me she will regret those photos!

    • D0li says:

Agreed. I do wonder, who convinced her to do this – if this was her idea, or if the photographer asked her to do it; either way I'm sure she thought that she was going to get publicity for it.

    • Amy says:

She's a professional model. I doubt it. This is no different than any other photograph of this type that anyone has ever published of her – except there's a hot guy next to her.

  23. Sasha Twen says:

This is GQ. OF COURSE IT'LL BE SEXIST. That said, she does look great, and Sami does lose some more layers in the other photos.

Now, can we please get a second photo shoot with Lena & Sami for a women's magazine and make him lose even more clothes in the process? :D

    • Kritina says:

Still sexist. GQ is a sexist magazine. The fact that it is GQ Magazine doesn't make it less sexist or sad that women are still portrayed naked together with fully dressed men. It's called objectification. At least they could have been naked together.

    • D0li says:

I think the real argument here is that you are making it seem as if it is ok for GQ to post this trash on its site and magazine.

  24. D0li says:

I find this picture to be completely unnecessary and quite frankly sexist. Why does she need to show her body in that manner? You can argue that they are doing it as a form of art, but in what way? Her pose is that of a cheap porn star, not that of an artistic figure!

I am very disappointed in Khedira and his girlfriend for posing like this. It just shows that even in areas that are supposed to be liberal, women are still considered sexual objects, and objectified.

    • Jen4 says:

Thank you. That is exactly what I first thought. Too sexist. At least make him naked as well..

      • D0li says:

As much as my women's studies professor wants to say that sexism is not intentional I disagree.. this is clearly an example of sexism being intentional; GQ chose to have this woman fully naked to sell more magazines.

    • mustapha alhaphaze says:

Is khadira a Muslim at all?,I bet he isn't.Used to like him soo much but, with this,i'm really down.I never taught he's such a cheap figure.Taught him to be very descent man.

      • D0li says:

I'm not really sure what his religious affiliation has to do with his magazine cover? I believe that he is Muslim but does not fit the stereotypical devote muslim that most people think of.

    • GermaninLondon says:

Amen sister, you said it all!

  25. Kat89 says:

still shaking hysterically!!!! OMFG!! have I ever been this jelly? sigh why cant sami man handle my tata's i sweat they are gq worthy *pout* I want me a footballer:'(

  26. Gladys says:

I find this a little weird (and I agree, Maran…sexist…even lingerie would have been better…or better yet, how about him naked, too?), given that they haven't been together that long. It could all go-awry and turn into one of those "can't believe I took that photo" moments if they break up. On the other hand, I like that she's with Sami and not one of those yawningly pretty ballers. He looks great in that tux.

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

This cover is creating quite the buzz guys love it, or at least my friends think he is the man who gets the hot girl and girls kind find it little bit offensive. Right? I quite wonder why isn't the other way round too :/, him nakad while she is covering him! Meh, it is like these model footballers relation last, so what an awkward cover to be looking at (if) they broke up.
Anyway, with that said, Sami is looking quite handsome in this cover and of course she is beautiful.

    • Maran says:

I agree, him naked as well would have saved it for me. In more than one way ;) .

    • kel says:

How long have they been together? I don't know anything about her tbh

    • GermaninLondon says:

She's naked to divert from his pure ugliness

  27. Maran says:

A bit heavy on the attention seeking for my liking. And a bit sexist, really. But what the hell, she's got a pair of nice boobies and an international footballer. Why not flash them?

    • Alone- Brazil says:

I think the cover photo could have been different, GQ's Mats Hummels with his girlfriend (no salt and no sugar) was very beautiful, I think it should have been in that style, but I think they have the choice of hints hood then. .. we can not do anything!

  28. Americus Killaponius says:

He looks better with the shorter hair.

    • bri_saldana says:

I agree…his hair for the cover works well but it seems at times that his hair is heavier than his head.

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

I kind hope he will rock a bald look, I can see him looking hot in it.

  29. kel says:

    I bet Mesut's jealous

  30. Natalie says:

Whoa Sami, didn't know he had this in him!!! He looks like James Bond!!!
