Gran Gala’ Del Calcio: Suit You, Sirs

Edinson Cavani. Forcing us to rethink our oppression of t-shirt/suit jacket combos since 9.30am this morning. Image: Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images.

If someone else is going to go to the trouble of picking out and rewarding their favourite Serie A players, it would be remiss of us not to use the photo opportunity for a random post.

Last week was the Gran Gala’ del calcio, an awards ceremony where the great and the good of Italian football (players, coaches, journos) vote on categories such as Player of the Year, Manager of the Year and of course, the highly competitive Dodgy ‘Do of the Year.**

It’s a given that we’re less interested in the awards than what the players looked like.

A bit tired and dishevelled? Trouble holding up his AIC Award? At least we know why.

Either his centre parting is so vigorous it’s changing the shape of his face, or Zlatan is warming up one of his famed Bitch faces. We seriously hope, for the sake of the footballing glitterati present, that it’s the former.

Bad stand-up comedian or casual footballer about town? It could go either way with Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale.

Attracted to Ibra? Amazed by Edinson? Or appalled by Prince Boateng?

**We may have made one of those awards up.

Omg, I love what Catie2838 said about Cavani ''Hey there. Come have coffee with me, lets get to know each other…'' So freaking true !!! I was thinking the same thing about him in that pic.

Zlatan Zlatan Zlatan…. Seriously. Do we really have to keep saying it.!!
I know there is someone out there, someone that knows about this site and knows how much we love our ballers so if you are that someone that knows Zlatan tell him, please tell him, to cut it and shave like ASAP! He used to look way better clean and sleek… and we missed that a lot. Also If you know Adil, tell him I said I LOVE HIM..

    -Dramatic?? I know!! :) I let myself go for a bit…

Cavani for the win. He's got the suit, the look, the overall air of relaxed sexiness that says, "Hey there. Come have coffee with me. Let's get to know each other…" He normally doesn't do it for me, but I'm kind of digging it today :) .

As for the others, not bad but Boateng's sleeves look too short and it's making me want to pull my sleeves down. Zlatan looks like an annoyed Harry Potter reject. And I feel like Natale's about to start crooning like a cheesy lounge singer.

  7. Kristina says:

lol, Zlatan! How pissed off can you look!? Close your eyes and think of Sweden why don't you :) ?

Cavani looks so sweet in this picture! Like an angel.

  8. Alone- Brazil says:

definitely the best part of the family Boateng is in Italy!

  9. ChefDi says:

Cavani wins but really, I prefer his hair all sweaty and wet, come to think of it. Horrible of Ibra (shudder) ~ Boateng is not on my A-list really ever but DiNatale is and here we have another disappointment. That was fun, though, Ladies, thank you!
