Internationals Fixtures: The Big Questions

Is this a ‘Twister’ contest?

As usual in the days leading up to a bunch of international fixtures, our inboxes are littered with images of players in training. We have been studying these at length (for work purposes, obviously) and quickly became aware of a number of important questions that need to be asked regarding team preparation, proposed formations and tactics.

But those were boring. So we made up some more interesting ones.

Italy

Ooh! Is Mario Balotelli putting a bib on?

Germany

Are Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller holding cordless hair trimmers? Do they have it in them to put us out of our misery and give Mario Gomez a proper haircut?

-

Argentina

Will Higgy’s mind be on the game during Argentina’s fixture with Chile? Or firmly resting on something dodgy, like it appears to be in training?

-

Turkey

And finally, will Servet Cetin’s powerful manoeuvrability upfront inspire his team to a win over the mighty Germans? What’s that? Uh huh. We know he’s a defender. We might not necessarily be referring to his footballing skills.

  3. cjeivksk says:

Ohhh, the Spanish TN…ohhhh-la-la.It's going to be a good night.nothing like hot spanish men running around for 90minutes,sweat dripping from thier gorgeous faces, down to their muscular abs, toned thighs…i will just stop right there before my overies are in a state;)

Servet'e bak! Ha koçuma. Hadi Türkü Baba, Çanakkale Geçilmez'i gösterelim Almanlara.

  6. Zoraida says:

yes, it's true.. nando looked way sexier in short brown hair…
and you can't say didn't use to perform in that hairstyle, because some years ago (world cup 2006 etc) he used to have short hair (mohawk actually) and he was playing amazingly.

and the german NT.. the always have so much fun together. i love the, SUCH a bonded group <3

    • April says:

It's true, he used to play well with short brown hair, and short blonde hair, and even no hair. It could be a confidence thing though. Some people just feel comfortable a certain way and they're less pre-occupied with what they look like and can go out and do their thing. Or… maybe he just felt like going back to blonde for awhile. He's no stranger to the hair salon. Heck, after not living up to everyone's expectations in Spain's game today, maybe he'll become a ginger tomorrow.

    papita booty! nomnomnom

  8. linvinnaar says:

Hands off, Nando. That's my job.

  9. Gretchen says:

Two of my favorite boys in one picture! Could this day get any better!? <3 Xab and Nando!

  10. IrishBlue says:

That's just how I like my Higuain! That man is just so nummy.

I'm definately on the side that thinks Nando looks so much better with darker hair, although I would love to see a pic of him in the hairdressers with a head full of tin foil getting his highlights done.

    • April says:

I never thought about that, but that would be quite funny… I loved the darker hair, but if blonde dye going into those roots leads to goals, then I'll take it!

  11. chay says:

We can all pretend that gonzalo is looking at me (off camera) and thinking dodgy fun things to do with little ole moi :-P

  12. Jen says:

Xabi and Nando-together again!!! Love it!!
    Funny German NT pic–very cute.
Plus I never get tired of seeing the Balotelli putting on a bib video. He is a disaster!

    • Rossanera says:

I cry laughing every time I see it. The best part is he when he finally gets it on … to take it off and get stuck in the other one.

      • Kristina says:

My, my I hadn't seen this before. I've got tears in my eyes right now. What's wrong with him?!

  13. Miss Lampard says:

Whoaaa I'm just in love with the first picture of Nando and Xabi..I'm breatheless, seeing them again together reminds me the golden age, when they were both at L'pool.

    • Jen says:

I was just thinking the same thing!!! Although he broke my heart, I still wish Nando well, when playing for Spain! I love this picture of them together again!!

    • hereforthenando says:

Reading that just broke my heart. I can't think about those times, it hurts too much.

  14. hereforthenando says:

When did Fernando go back to blonde? I feel so out of the loop.

    • iram1982 says:

i thought of the same thing! (but IMO it looks yuck) why guys needs to feel that they dye/bleach their hair is beyond me!

      • DebS says:

When he had the short brown hair he was in such poor form. Now that he's growing it out and it's blonde again, he seems to be regaining his form. Perhaps he's like Samson?

    • April says:

Just in time for their ManU fixture a few weeks ago. And then he scored, so go figure!

    • liz says:

it looked sooooooo much better brunette. sooooooo much better. is brown hair is just so much hotter. and sexier.

      • nic says:

        absolutely agree!

        • Paige says:

When his hair was short I fell in love with him. If it had been blonde and long then I probably wouldn't have even looked twice. So while I'm still a Nando fangirl, it's only because I know how beautiful he CAN be given the correct folicular conditions.

  15. littlegreenpea says:

oh giovinco how I have missed you!! he's so adorable… especially when he's laughing… http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/4148…

torres, I think it would be best for everyone if you went back to looking hot in short brown hair… it showed off your freckles more.

    • kate says:

i agree so much. why would he feel the need to go blonde? it so…unattractive. he can do so much better.

      • littlegreenpea says:

i agree. i don't know why someone gave you a thumbs-down. it's a totally true fact. his hair looks stringy and weird when it's blonde…. i'm sorry if other people think differently.
