Jose Mourinho: Call Me ‘The Only One’

Image: AP Photo.

Real Madrid’s manager wants to kick his self-annointed ‘Special One’ title to the kerb, y’all.

Can you believe it?

“Like me or not, I am the only one who won the world’s three most important leagues. So, maybe instead of the ‘Special One’, people should start calling me the ‘Only One’,” Mourinho said in an interview with Portuguese television channel SIC.

A big part of us supports the salt and pepper shaker’s need to constantly reinvent himself. It’s an admirable trait of successful folk just like him. A smaller part of us empathises with our proofreading team since his declaration marks the start of a sad, dark, and darkly sad chapter in their lives. Obviously all copy writers on staff will be mucking this nickname switheroo up 100% of the time for the next three months. At minimum.

Are there any other readers out there feeling the pain of this announcement? We know there are many undercover Mourinho lusters who will not take the news lightly.

He's a freak, but somehow i do adore him. He does an excellent job. The reason why he overreacts so much is that he's totally into his passion which is football. Anyway, he's kinda handsome although he's almost 50, especially in his suits!

  2. slav4mou says:

Needless to say, he is the best. Here's hoping he wears some suits this season. I confess to tiring of the tracksuit look…but I love the winking. Don't stop that.

  3. drea says:

Well, he's not wrong. The funny thing is, Mou's detractors don't understand that he purposely says these things that take on a lot of controversial attention so that less of it gets focused on his players. I believe Fernando Llorente once said this about Mou (and Pep) in an interview and I was so impressed by his perception.

    • Kristina says:

I understand that very well. It's not an "aha, that's why he's an asshole"-moment for me. Bottom line, he's an SOB who stops at nothing to win and and I don't care WHY he is. Do you really think that the reason why he does what he does matters? He has ruined his reputation in my eyes. And if he ever joined my team as a coach I would stop supporting them. Because I have some standards.

      • drea says:

I swear to God, Kristina, you ruin it for everyone. You know Mou personally to hate him that much? What, did he run over your dog or something? You need to redirect your hate at someone else because you are driving people away from this site… or is that your intention? This post doesn't even have anything to do with Barca, but here you are talking sh*t, again. Too much time on your hands? Why don't you go look for Pep and cheer him up?

        • Kristina says:

This post is about Mou, not Barca. Hence I'm not speaking of Barca. Should I be confined only to post about Barca, is that it?

No, I keep to the subject. People praise Mou and I don't. Do I ruin it for everybody? Seriously? So if I don't agree I ruin it? Followers of Mou often speak of how people either love or hate him. Well, you're right, he stirs up emotion, and many of you consider that a good thing. This is just a consequence of that, take it or leave it. I passionately dislike him.

And you really don't have to know him personally to dislike him. It's not like he hides anything. And that is generally what people like about him. To me that's a mystery and I tend to obsess about things I don't understand. I'm gonna stop now.

          just ignore her ;)

      • Sarah, Madrid says:

I am pretty sure million of fans around the world who support RM, supported Inter, Chelsea and Porto some had standards as well.
You are starting to sound like Xavi!

  4. Mayra says:

A lot of people find him annoying for all the things he says but I actually find him very entertaining and funny.
    I LOVE HIM <3

  5. Lola says:

Wow the fact that he's applauded for his comments never ceases to amaze me.

  6. Sara in Paris says:

His next nickname should me ''the Wacky one''.

  7. tammyv says:

    Love him…

what I think people hate most… he's not wrong

    • Kristina says:

He's not wrong. I don't hate him because he's a lier. I just have a thing against eye-poking, referee-stalking, arrogant self promoters. But that seems to be okidoki with most people here.

  8. Fiona says:

    Megalomaniac…

  9. His facial expression is so funny

  10. Kristina says:

What a coincidence José, I'm the only one too!

To me, his personality overshadows his accomplishments. He could win the league this season as well, and I won't clap my hands. It's not the bragging, he can revel in his own glory as much as he wants, I don't care. It's the contempt he shows his colleagues and the referees. And that's that.

  11. KL7 says:

He is the only one with enough swagger to say this shit and back it up. Love or hate him, he is a great manager. He is not just a bad boy, he is bad-ass! I look forward to the next 20ish years of him coaching and speaking out. He is truly entertaining!

  12. Sara in Paris says:

He's the most insane dude in football! The medias love him. He even got an Adidas campaign just for him. In the Adidas store in Paris, there's a huge huge poster of him. I won't complain.

The ONLY ONE!!!? Damn right Mourinho! The only hot, peppery, wacky, funny, arrogant as hell and best coach! Whatever you say Mou'!

Wherever he lands, he's the main attraction!

  13. DebS says:

I just LOVE this guy! Never one to mince words.

  14. Agnes Wonka says:

I love him! he is what he is and he's never going to pretend any different. he's amazing!!! xD

  15. gin_in_teacups says:

Is there no end to his magnificence? He's so epic.

  16. OhDear says:

    Hahahahaha! Don't ever change, JM!

  17. Jayy says:

Is it weird that I find him attractive in a domineering kind of way?

  18. lima says:

“He’s definitely got something about him. He has a presence and a lot of charisma and I think everybody loves a little bit of bad-boy arrogance. He’s stylish and a little bit older, so yes, I’ve got a twinkle in my eye for him.”!

    really so much me.

  19. rubii says:

hahahahahah i just adore this man.
none can deny that his personalty is one of a kind,so yeah he is the only one :)
