Kickette Catch Up: Weekend Gossip Cheat Sheet

With the last lingering players returning from their well-deserved summer breaks, this Monday’s gossip cheat sheet is heavier on the match results than normal. Never fear, though, we come bearing light blue bulge to make amends.

- Two former Real Madrid comrades,  Christoph Metzelder and Raul, celebrated their new team’s (Schalke) win over Hamburg SV and another old teammate, Ruud van Nistelrooy, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. [AP Photo/Martin Meissner].

Fernando Torres in Formentara- Fernando Torres + daughter Nora + broke down Range Rover = sadface. [Images:].

- Ligue 1 side, Marseille, captured the first (thankless) trophy of the 2010 – 2011 season.

- Inter Milan trained with their base layers on before traveling from NYC to Philly in style-lacking fashion. The same could not be said about Barcelona’s pre-season training accommodations.

- Manchester United’s Anderson survived a fireball car crash. WTF? Glad he’s okay.

- Cheryl Cole: Desperate Housewife?

Ballers on Breaks- Barcelona ‘baller, Andres Iniesta, and his girlfriend Ana bumped into Formula 1 boss, Flavio Briatore and his wife whilst holidaying in Sardinia. [Image:].

- Thierry Henry finally made his MLS regular season debut. He and Juan Pablo Angel make a quite the attractive scoring pair.

- Potentially exaggerated rumours suggest that Sara Carbonero has a future in film: she supposedly has an upcoming cameo in the movie, ‘Los Exhibicionistas’. Damn her successful career and amazing bikini body.

- Step aside, LL Cool J, ladies really love Victoria B.

  3. rubyqueen says:

i loved sara's body but i never used to think her face was all that.but in these picture's she's looking truly beautiful.:D

  4. Maria says:

Oh my days!! Diego Milito stretching!!!
And yes, that’s a hell of a lot Barca younglings! Maybe future Kickette favourites?

  5. Katee says:

I've looked through almost all of Barcelona's pictures of the tour… where is Piqué??

    • LoveFootballLoveFootballPlayers says:

      :( Same here… I don’t like this Pique withdrawal… not at all!

      • Katee says:

Me either, those blue shirts would bring out his gorgeous eyes but we don’t even get to see it! Unless he’s spending some uh, quality time with Cesc (making a sex tape) then I’m okay with it.:)

  6. locodice says:

why doesnt anyone thinks that hatem ben arfa is hot

  7. Goosie says:

I’d totally wear Victoria Beckham’s dress (the one in the link) if I could afford it….

  8. Laurie says:

So happy for Raul. He nearly scored in his first game and then scored twice in his second. Bayern wasn't strong but I believe it's good for his ego :D In an interview he said he only played 60 minutes for Real last season… Schalke Fans already love him and it's sweet to see how all the players hug him after he's scored (they don't know each other for a week, but I guess that's football :D ). And he looks so cute in that Schalke Polo… I think, I'm developing a Raul crush but it's pretty cool to have such a football legend in your favourite club…

    • LaNovena says:

he didnt play only 60 min in RM last season thats not true and I havnt heard him saying that either. Doesnt change the fact he didnt play a lot. But thats more due to the fact that the striking duo CR & Higuain broke club records of scoring last season with 53 goals.

Well, he still looks strange for me in the shirt, but he stays the same. From his personality and as a footballer. Im really glad for him to show his magic off again.

This lob is his trademark with copyright. Youll see… ;)

      • Laurie says:

He said that after his first game with Schalke here:
at 0:17. But I got it wrong, he didn't say last season, he said during the last months…

And it's this video where I find him cute in his polo :D

Anyways, he's the first foreign football legend in the Bundesliga ever and he'll soon find out what that means.Germany's Liga is pretty weak but the country is still crazy about football.I hope they'll beat Bayern but that will be harder than for Real to beat Barca. He definitely didn't choose the most comfortable club which makes him even more likeable since it shows that he's still competitive (compare that to Cesc…).

Still, it's funny to think of a player who moves from Madrid to Düsseldorf :D I'd wish more Spaniards would come to Germany, but that will never happen…

        • Isabel says:

Erm just saying, the German Bundesliga is NOT weak. It’s just different from Spain or the EPL.

          • Laurie says:

With weak I mean it’s just Bayern Munich and the rest…
They don’t have any serious opponents. They win the Meisterschaft one year, maybe next year another team wins, but then it’s Bayern again… Same goes for the DFB Pokal. In Premiere League there are at least 4 teams who are constantly good… probably 5 this season…

  9. zahara says:

i like sara pastasauce and not coz shes pretty but she seems like a nice person-however, damn that girl is gorgeous but so is iker, hell, i think theyre great together and im happy for them

  10. juventina says:

OMG Iker is reading one of my favourite books! amazing :)

  11. VeNia says:

Barca’s youngsters are really promising!!also,i liked Ana better with darker hair but i still like her!

  12. Thea says:

Begining to feel that it’s actually okay to like Sara PastaFace now! She seems like she’s an okay sort! She’s not sorting Iker’s clothes though, so you have to minus points for that still.

  13. Amy says:

    what is Iker wearing??

  14. Katie says:

Who is that standing with Raul?

  15. n'aaww poor anderson =( x

    • Bria says:

Yeah. Glad to see he wasn’t seriously hurt. Fergie is gonna be pissed at him though. Wouldn’t want to be in his shoes when they meet.

  16. Claire the Forest Fa says:

I spotted a mistake (I'm a very pedantic person) – Flavio Briatore doesn't work in Formula One anymore because he cheated and got a cutie to crash (Nelsinho Piquet). Just thought I'd mention. Please don't eat me alive.

  17. AKA says:

Ruud also scored against Koln yesterday and Raul got a brace against B. Munich – glad to see the 'unwanted' Madridistas are proving Calderon/Perez wrong. They be on fiyahhh.

    • l says:

if this season is anything like last season it be worth putting a punt on the clubs that this years newly initiated members of the 'real rejects' organization have moved to (those clubs that had players bought by real last season didn't too badly either – esp playing against real, for eg milan and lyon). by that logic Schalke and Beşiktaş should have successful seasons and real madrid should start getting a little nervous if they draw di maria's old club Benfica (as incoming transfers stand) at any point in the nest seasons champions league. (considering madrid now have a big coach to go with the big players i doubt much of the above will plan out but if the fluke happened again and it did than it wouldn't be too weird to conclude that rm has become a cursed/jinxed club – here's hoping all non madrid fans have something to giggle about at the end of this season again <: )

    • LaNovena says:

Rauls not been an unwanted! Mou tried to convince him of staying and Raul really had a hard time. But it was his own decision! Its a clubs tradition to tribute long-served players to let them go on a free after so many years if they decide to go elsewhere. Raul went because he wants to play and im glad about that. Not glad that he left RM, that was actually very sad! Glad that he is happy and we still can enjoy his magic.
