Kickette Catch Up: Weekend Gossip Cheat Sheet

With a bat of an eyelash, the weekend’s over. Luckily we caught a fleeting glimpse of Owen Hargreaves to dull the Monday Morning blues. Image: Getty Images Europe.

- Carly Cole and baby Ruby sat down with – who else? – Hello! magazine to discuss details of her car hijacking.

- Schalke 04 goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer spilled the beans about Raul and his absence during a recent BNO (big night out) with the team.

- Is Victoria Beckham designing custom dresses now? Interesting to see Hollywood actress Demi Moore wearing a frock of hers that didn’t make it to VB’s runway previews this year.

- is set to name the 15 hottest footballers (version 2.0; Iker won big last year) on November 9th – but early online voting shows Gerard Pique topping the charts. Kickettes, do you agree? If not, head on over to their site and rig the system!

- The Cristiano/Kaka bromance is alive and kicking, ladies.  During an interview with a Brazilian TV station on Sunday, Cristiano was asked for his thoughts on Kaka being voted “most beautiful footballer” ahead of himself by Brazilians, to which he replied:  “He’s handsome, he’s cute! He deserves it … ”

- Coleen Rooney and Wayne threw son, Kai, a £90,000 1st birthday party complete with a marquee, jugglers and magicians says Now Magazine. Another ‘PR stunt that backfired‘, or is this a case of two filthy rich parents (and their posse) spoiling a child senseless? (Image: Getty Images Europe)

- And finally, congratulations goes out to AS Roma’s Mirko Vucinic and his girlfriend Stefania, who gave birth to a little boy Aleksander/Alexander late Sunday night/early Monday morning. Yeah, our fact checker hasn’t risen from the ashes of Halloween weekend yet, so details are still a bit muddied at this point.

90,000 on a 1 year old's party? He won't even remember it. I'm loving them both less as time goes on.

  2. Mel says:

Still don't think Ruby's cute. Perhaps she's just a slow starter. I'm ready to be dazzled!

  3. Bettie says:

A field to run in, lol

  4. Delicious says:

Well I think 11 person on that list deserve to be on it although I would change most of the rankings. And who is that guy in the left corner?! No, I don't mean Piqué, I mean that old ugly guy. He's not beautiful!!!

  5. You really really REALLY need to throw yourself and everyone else you love a birthday party. I measure my life in the distances between parties. One may as well be dead if one is not eating and drinking and celebrating in the most outrageous way one can afford the milestones of one's life. What would you rather have on your tombstone? "She never threw herself a birthday party." OR "Her whole life was one big birthday party."

  6. Jo_ says:

Getting access to a field or park would blow that $50 budget where I live. And, yes, you have to go that route if you live in a city apartment.

It's their first kid's first birthday, so I don't judge them for going overboard. Conspicuous consumption is the lifeblood of Kickette, isn't it? That and hot ballers.

  7. eatmyboost says:

I'd just like to point out – for anybody who doesn't hablar espanol, that because he won the thing last year, Iker is ineligible for being voted in the Don Balon hottest baller poll. I must say it's not fair that he's not allowed to defend his title.

  8. Emme says:

I know the Rooney's are allowed to do whatever they want with their money, but they are getting out of hand. They seriously need to tone it. Would it seriously kill Wayne to look a little more interested in the affairs of Manchester United? I love Xabi, but kind of wish Fern Llorente wins the contest – he reminds me of Michelangelo's David :)

  9. rubyqueen says:

awww poor carly it must of been such an ordeal.!!! i wouldn't be so quick to brush off those hernandes rumour's.!!he is playing so well lately and is fast becoming a united favourite unlike a certain mr rooney.!!

  10. Nando y Geri 4ever says:

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Gerard is at the top of the charts!! No surprise ther for me :) i really hope he wins!

  11. @AgnesWonka says:

I'm very sure Kai Rooney will grow up as an spoiled child!

  12. Vi10 says:

I feel like an idiot but where do you actually go vote? I can't see any obvious link n that page and my inability to speak Spanish hinders me.
Plus Google Translate is being a bitch and taking an hour to load.

  13. Bebo Ronaldo says:

O my gosh cristiano/kaka bromance is the sweetest thing ever and CR jus made it sweeter…that is jus the sweetest thing EVER!!! And I love them both <3 their bromance is ETERNAL!!!

    • loveu2much says:

i thot it was sweet too and its nice to have some crissy love around here its cool to see him so humble cuz the media portrays him as arrogant and selfish and hes clearly not

  14. senora ramos says:

ok, i agree with whoever said 1-15 should be sergio. well…maybe xabi could be #2 b/c of his amazing amounts of hotness lately, but the rest are sergio. lol!

and really rooneys. that'srediculous. why even call it a birthday party for the baby? he's freaking 1. he will not remember that. geez. too much money and not enough sense.

  15. N says:

Oooooh CrisKa, are they trying to become my new football OTP or what? (not yet, but nice effort, Cris)

And I approve most heartily of the inclusion of young Sergio Canales in that collage of Spanish appeal. My own preferences might be caught in a four-way between Xabi, Nando, Iker and Villa BUT I see great things in that youngun's future (and by "great", of course I mean future promotion to La Roja and Kickette front-page starring role….kid is a touch young for my taste but he will make some young(er) Kickette a fantastic crush object one day)

  16. Pique_Xavi says:

I think Pique is very deserving of any award. Last year a classy look won in my opinion but this year it should go to Pique because he's young and even though some people have problems with him expressing his Barca love no matter what I find that quite a good thing. For once its not just about dating models all the time, which he can do. Young people now want money, fame and lots girls just to prove something to people that don't even know them. He's a nice person and helpful to others doing charity work with his mom all the time. And the man is hot! I'm surprised that Xabi Alonso didn't take this prize last year, I think he's better looking that Iker no offense to any Iker lovers. But the list of women who have the last vote seem to be RM fans. I didn't like one advising all players to be less metrosexual and not to be covered in tattoos. I think that's their choice and they are not who they are to please her. Some ladies love that other don't. Anyway, my vote goes to Pique big surprise :) lol

    • Nando y Geri 4ever says:

your amazingly lovely paragraph made me grin from ear to ear. but everything you said about Gerard is so true. The hottest football player ever, wonderful and kind man, and a true Barca player. I dislike people who think he is gay with either Cesc or Carles, I know its not true at all. But again, lovely comment ;)

      • Dru says:

Awww, come on, you know when we talk about Cesc/Pique or Puyol/Pique it's all in good spirit and a joke, they all have girlfriends so it's not as if anyone really thinks they're gay! Maybe a little wishful thinking because they seem to love each other so much and are such good friends, but not seriously…

      • Emme says:

I thought he was in a relationship with Ibra? just kidding :)

      • Pique_Xavi says:

Thanks :) I think some people need to learn that sometimes other people around the world do things a certain way and we may not all like it or understand but that doesn't mean we have to insult people. I mean, being gay shouldn't be an insult but its often used that way and if Pique were to say one day that he is it doesn't take away his talent or his beauty. Its sad for people who have to look bad at his friendship with Cesc. Pique is a loving person and I think he got that from his mamma. If you see pics of them together you see them happy and comfortable with each other and not many guys act like that around their moms.

    • Leya_S says:

I agree that Xabi is hotter than Iker. Iker's hot, but I just find him to be rather generic (sorry to all the San Iker fans!). Also, I think all players should have the kind of club pride Pique has (*cough* Wayne Rooney!). Oh, Geri, he's so amazing…

The tattoo thing…I think tattoos are hot, really. It has surprised me the number of tattoos so many players have, and by that I mean I'm seeing more and more ballers with A LOT of tattoos, sleeves being particularly popular. For example, at Liverpool, between Konchesky, Meireles, and Skrtle, there's enough ink to recopy the dictionary, haha! So its really the sheer numbers that surprise me more than anything bc I would say as little as 5 years ago, there were a good percentage less tattoos in football world-wide.

      • Pique_Xavi says:

Pique pride is something I saw and loved. I don't see why people give grief over it. That's the point of beloging to a team, he not only talks but backs up his belief on the field and he often is asked so many times the same question trying to provoke him and he's human so sometimes he does raise his voice but who wouldn't?

About the tattoos. I don't like men or women telling their significant other what to do, how to dress, or how to behave. I mean if you loved them you do so the way you first saw them otherwise you aren't interesting in a person but a project, lol. I myself don't always like tattoos. Some look so weird. But if a guy has them and I don't like them I wouldn't ask him to stop getting them. But some guys don't like them. I had a bf who had what looked like a 4 inch crossing man on his hipbone. That was a huge turnoff and then he wanted to get more, I said okay thats on you, but he then said because he wanted to be like his brother??? I said goodbye!

    • Emme says:

You already know what I think about Xabi, but I do think Pique is worthy. His eyes definitely made me take notice of him, but then I found out he is an extremely interesting person. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought I read somewhere that he enjoys writing short stories & keeps a journal. Definitely a footballer I would like to be friends with.

      • Pique_Xavi says:

LOL Yes that Xabi, who yesterday was almost getting into fights with Milan players. Well all of RM except for Iker and all Milan were hotheads yesterday. I know that Pique is really close with his mom and since he was young and moved away to Manchester United I'm sure he began to write for himself and then he gave his parents pages of journals he had written. Some people believe that someone else wrote his books but the truth is that he wrote some personal things about his life and its not like he wrote his biography but rather things he was feeling or people that had impact on his life. He is actually very careful about his personal life… he doesn't talk about what he and Cesc talk in private. They both have been asked on that subject so many times that I'm sure not even their girlfriends know much of it. Pique is very interesting not only because he's a good looking guy but if you read how he talks or the way he acts you see he's really a smart and caring person. His parents raised him good. He loves his brother and his parents and has a wonderful relationship with his cousin Monze who suffer from down syndrome.

        • Emme says:

Thanks for the Pique info – now I can admire him for more than just being a Catalan sex symbol! lol! :) People surprise me everyday. The CL game between Madrid & Milan was really intense – lots of pressure on Milan. Just don't understand what was going on with Ibra? He tripped Xabi in the beginning of the match and I seriously thought if the match went on any longer, those two would get into a fist fight. I feel like ever since he got kicked by de Jong, Xabi has not wanted to take s*** from anyone.

          • Pique_Xavi says:

You're very welcome. Anything I can do to spread good news about my lovely men Pique and Xavi :) lol Yeah Ibra was all weird like he felt pressure but I think it was more because of Barca and not because of Milan. And I thought it was my imagination about Xabi. He had a look in his face that after the first moments of the game he saw himself in a threatning mood. But unlike CR he didn't throw the first punch. And speaking of him, not sure, but doesn't everybody in the football world know about Gattuso's temper? I mean why would you want to get into a fight you can win and specially when he wasn't right? CR is luck he didn't get punched in the face. Poor Xabi though, he will get in trouble one of these days if he feels like someone is after him and all because that kick in the chest which was horrible. I was so worried that day. Not sure if you know about this but 3 days before the WC final, in Peru a player died when a goalie hit him in the chest but that time was an accident.

            • Emme says:

I did not know that about the Peruvian goalkeeper – that is terrible! Cristiano should thank his lucky stars he didn't get punched by Abate either. My god, I think he should know better than to mess with an Italian temper. Then again, the Spaniards can be temperamental as well. Not sure what went down with Ibra & Pep, but it has definitely affected his game. You are right, Barca has been messing with his head. A shame, considering he and Pique made such a nice couple! lol

  17. hereforthenando says:

How the hell is teen 'stache on the hot list? He is totally NSFPWE (Not Safe for People With Eyes).

  18. Jo_ says:

Owen!!! Love seeing him back on Kickette. Now if he'd only make it on to a team sheet…

  19. C16 says:

I absolutely DO NOT agree with that list. I adore Piqué but seriously, no Yoann Gourcuff?????? What is wrong with the world??? HELL NO!!!!!!

And Cristiano's comment on Kaká is the cutest thing ever!!! Bromance forever!!!!

  20. Ava says:

That hottest footballer poll is incomplete without Yoann Gourcuff.

  21. Alessandra says:

can't wait to see mirko jr!XD congrats to him and his wife!<3

  22. gin_in_teacups says:

Well, you're a Barca girl so I can't really trust your judgment on Jose :-) But I do think it's a bit of a scandal to have any coaches on the list while there have been such glaring player omissions.

    • PepaCandela says:

There was an original list with at least 30 players/managers listed, and the top 15 are the result of reader's votes from that list.

  23. sarrible says:

Ruby Cole looks so much like her daddy it's a little scary, actually.

  24. Sahar says:

Kaka and Cris the most adorable bromance. They are also the most beautiful. I don’t know why more kickettes aren’t in love with kaka. He is perfect but at the same time you just want to corrupt him. I love how even Cris acknowledged it. Their love will not be denied. It would break my heart not to mention Cris and kaka’s heart if kaka got traded. Long live CrisKa

  25. gin_in_teacups says:

This comment just made me realize that Jesus Navas is not on that list. What is this world we are living in?

  26. gin_in_teacups says:

Hooray for Kaka! I think he's way more attractive than CRon and I'm glad Brazil agrees! It's very cute that Cris said that too. I don't know what it is about their bromance. Maybe it's because they seem so different. Like you could make an awesome rom-com about their relationship.

Now, about these hottest Spanish ballers. Why is this list not Sergio 1 -15? Oh, must be because I didn't write the list. But really, how is Osvaldo ahead of Sergio? Not to mention ahead of Nando and Cesc? This is a topsy turvy world!

And Rooneys – please go away now ok thank you. Anybody read the articles about how Rooney's place on the United squad might be in danger because Chicharito is doing so well? Clearly that isn't going to happen and these are articles written by people looking to make mountains of molehills (or by delusional people) but I still enjoyed reading them. Chicha over Rooney any day of the week.

    • Leya_S says:

Actually my dad and I joked about Chicha taking Rooney's spot! I doubt it will happen, but I think Berba and Chicharito have good chemistry up there. I'm sure once Wayne gets his act together and stops acting like a spoiled brat (which, coincidentally is how he apparently is planning to raise his son), then maybe he'll play more. Granted I feel like there's bound to be tension bt him and some of the players after the way he's treated the club, which couldn't possibly make him perform any better so, yeahhh…

I won't lie, though. The one perk in the Rooney-leaves-United drama: I got to see my darling Little Pea play and be amazing. :) I love him.

      • gin_in_teacups says:

They certainly didn't give him that new contract to have him not play, but between his problems lately and how well Chicharito has been doing, it's fun to imagine them giving Rooney the finger and saying they're going to let the new kid have his shot.

I love him too and I'm really pleased he's doing so well. Granted, I wish it weren't at United but hey, it's not a perfect world.

        • Gill says:

Don't be too surprised when United sell Rooney on in 2 years. Unless he comes back en fuego on the pitch, the club will want to recoup all that money. 5 years was smart business, because they'll have a good 3 to cash in on.

Little Chi Chi all the way!! Big fan of his partnership with Berba, and it'll just get better

        • Leya_S says:

SAME! On a regular basis I wish Chicharito would come to Arsenal…~S

        • Leya_S says:

SAME! On a regular basis I wish Chicharito would come to Arsenal…~S

  27. MiaSoccerBarbie says:

I agree with most of the picks HOWEVER, they always seem to leave out V. VALDES…! :( Hes Super HoT! & ewww they listed Mourinho & C. Ronaldo? yeah.. i just threw up alittle … :/

  28. Leya_S says:

Ahh! Why did Cristiano's comment about Kaka make me so happy!! I really love their bromance!

15 Hottest Spanish Ballers? Well that's just not fair. They're all so gorgeous. My faves did make this list (Geri, Sergio, Baby Bojan, Llorente), and I can't choose amongst them, so I'm just glad they're all there and I can gaze at their beautiful faces in a 3×5 pic square all day long….sigh…

    • N says:

I know! I'm happy that Mini Sergio made it to 3x5too, but I'm making a sadface for Navas and Pepe not being on!

  29. Barbiegirl says:

    “He’s handsome, he’s cute! He deserves it … ”
    How cute is that??

  30. Says_Who says:

There's nothing better than seeing a picture of Owen Hargreaves in the morning!

  31. BarceLisa says:

-congrats to Mirko and his pair of undies.
-good god, please tell me Coleen ate a whole pizza by herself.
-15 hottest spanish 'ballers?… JUST fifteen???
-its funny kaka was voted number one but on this site, he can't even make the finest five voting.

    • Natasha says:

the 'competition' was between Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo only, and it was in Brazil(btw,I'm brazilian and I didn't know about that hahah) so Kaka won because he's brazilian and all…but I think CR is cuter hahah(and even in Brazil, Kaka won with 51% of the votes, or something like that)

  32. DeeRoma says:

    Congratulations, Mirko!

  33. Natasha says:

ohh I was sure you were going to say something about Cesc learning how to cook with his grandma (that was so cute! hahah)

and I saw the video of Cristiano, that interview was very nice :) ('tô nem aí' hahah)
