Kickette Catch Up: Weekend Gossip Cheat Sheet
Reality called us this weekend, but we sent him straight to voice mail. We definitely had better things to do, like collect the three convertible bra straps that we hung on our neighborhood pub’s walls, which was our drunk membranes’ unsuccessful attempt at telling the ‘last call’ minder to go kick rocks. On top of that, we had mounds of gossip to ignore get through.
Best to pace yourselves, Kickettes, as you read through this weekend’s top news. Then, promise us that you’ll never recklessly pull a “Coyote Ugly” moment of your own?
Saturday
- Victoria Beckham, along with her three sons and hairstylist/friend Ken Paves, took to the Home Depot Center to watch hubby/daddy David in action for the LA Galaxy. Would ya look at that bump?! It sure looks robustly round when seen from the side, but straight-on shots of this Mum-to-be seem to tell a different story.
- Speaking of blossoming bundles of joy, we heard Caroline Celico’s Mum organised an intimate shower for her daughter in Sao Paolo. As we’ve been relentlessly reminding you of for some time now (more so because we fear we’ll forget) Mr. & Mrs. Kaká have about a month left to prepare for the birth of their second child.
- Shaun Wright-Phillips showed his adorkable side during an arts and crafts session with schoolkids at the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Cheshire.
- Also a funny sight, in a ‘detrimental to his safety’ sort of way: Franck Ribéry got tripped up by a metal barrier during training. Handheld video cams = best invention since sliced bread.
Sunday
- Show some love and congratulatory notes for proud new papa Andres Iniesta; his partner, Anna Ortiz, gave birth to the couple’s first child together, a daughter they named Valeria.
- On a tangent and we don’t mind if we do: for the UK folk rolling with us today, what goods did you give your Mum for Sunday’s celebration of Mothers?
- Have you already forgotten about the rape allegations lodged against Marseille striker, Brandão? Although there’s been minimal movement in his court proceedings, L’OM made sure to extend the Brazilian’s stay in his native country by sealing his sealing his on-loan fate. B. will play for Cruzeiro through the end of 2011.
- Fulham-supporters, what’s your take on the gigundo Michael Jackson statue that was unveiled outside Craven Cottage yesterday?

If I had a world cup winning goal scoring – treble winning dad… he can name me anything! Just sayin…
I think it's a really cute name whether it rhymes with malaria or not.
victoria looks incredible for a 36yr old pregnant mother of 3.she must have good genes.
Ribery crashed into a barrier? Oh my lord is the barrier ok??!
It will rhyme in norwegian
and not in english, but I get your point. Parents should be careful with the name choices, simultaneously kids can be cruel.
my bad. Va-LEH-ri-a
It'd be pronounced like that in the US too.
Val-EH-ri-a. (which does not rhyme with malaria in spanish. not that it matters because it's hardly an unusual name anyway.)
Meant to be directed at Kiki's comment, sorry!
congrats to both baby mamas. im so happy for the beckhams and kaka and carol's baby (idk his last name and im currently online from school so i dont have the time to google it lol) wish both families only the best!
I like pulling out my Thrilled dance from time to time (i.e. at parties with open bars) as much as the next girl, but wow…that is one hideous statue, made even more so that it's now standing outside of such a beautiful, historic stadium.
A bit disrespectful of the owner to say that about Fulham fans too. Loving a football club has nothing to do with what statues are standing outside of it–they should be allowed to think that it's completely and totally bizarre to have a statue of Michael Jackson outside of a London sports club that he visited a grand total of one time.
…and by Thrilled, I clearly mean Thriller. Sigh. Typos.
Not in Spain or Italy she won't. Valeria's a common enough name.
congrats to Anna and Andresito. Can't wait to see the first photos. Does Xavi need anyone to have his babies (raises hand, gets in line). I know this is a bad segway but what is up with that Michael Jackson statue? He attends ONE match and he gets a damn statue! Here's a tip Mr Al-Fayed: how about a statue to your would-have-been daughter-in-law Princess Diana? or… I dunno, your late son Dodi? Those would be less creepy than this Michael Jackson monstrosity.
He already has that hideous tribute to them in Harrod's – with the wine glasses and napkins from the night of their accident. ::shudder:: Fulham fans, you have my deepest sympathy.
If I didn't already have kids with a perfectly alright guy, then yeah I'd like to have them with Xavi too
.
That's how I read it at first… But what if it's Val-er-ee-uh, like galleria?
Awwwww, congratulations to Andres and Anna! I'm sure their baby must be adorable (and am hoping for a pic, preferably of the tweeted/facebooked kind, since pap pics of kids are not good)
And re: Posh, isn't that how bumps often look IRL? Not that big from the front, but nice and round from the side. She looks utterly fab though. And now I want the new Beckham bebe to get born just so I can see how Posh dresses her!
Apparently Romeo Beckham wanted his future little sister to be called Justine Bieber Beckham. Those kids make my heart explode with cute.
Hey Mo' Al Fayed…
It's obvious you wanna be startin' something with that non-thriller of a statue. It's totally off the wall, batshit crazy.
Say, say, say…You know it's bad.
Take a look at the man in the mirror. You'll find he's a smooth criminal for foisting that monstrosity of an eyesore on the long-suffering Fulham fans.
Sincerely,
Superfly Sister
Congratulations papa Andres and mama Ana! It is strange how you can feel so much for someone that you do not know. But Andres is one of those. He just seems so genuine, with such a sweet and kind nature. I actually got tears in my eyes when I read the news. I'm certain that he will be an excellent father. And as Valerias birth is almost exactly 9 months after her dad scored that vital goal in the WC final, she will always be a living proof of how Andres celebrated that night
!
Congrats to Iniesta and Anna! Valeria is such a beautiful name.
I like how the Daily Mail spends half of the article talking about how the Beckham boys seem to know the American national anthem and seems a bit off-put by it. They HAVE been there for quite awhile, it shouldn't be all that surprising that they picked it up. Posh looked fab, though. As always.
I was so happy for Andres and Anna. He's going to be such a great dad! I bet he'll tweet a pic of her, he seems to be big into the social networking recently.
Omg, YAY, baby Iniesta! Valeria is a beautiful name! I'm so excited for them!!! Hopefully we'll get to see pics (although we're also still waiting on pics of baby Leo Torres).
Michael Jackson statue? Can someone PLEASE explain to me how that's even remotely appropriate?
Ah, but Andresito is plugged into Facebook and Twitter, so I expect he might share a snap or two.
Reading this news on Suday capped off a perfect weekend for me. Visca Barca, Visca Catalunya i Visca Iniesta!
Fulham fans- I am so sorry. How unfortunate.
Finally a healthy looking vick and she actually looks great, I find her so pretty in this picture.
I find a very interesting thing on Internet http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/04/01/article…
Have you recognize him, haven't you… I think that he has always been too cute, and he's still today so gorgeous in my opinion. But the thing which I prefer and which is the think that I like above all in him, are his marvellous, beautiful blue eyes. They're so deep, I lost myself in them.
could that be little Frankie Lampard??
Of course he's…He has still today the same blue eyes…
Omg he was such a cute kid!! I absolutely love Lampsy
Congratulations Andres and Anna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for them! He is going to be the best daddy ever!!!!! =D
