Kickette Catch Up: Weekend Gossip Cheat Sheet

Chelsea star with mystery lady

Soz about our slowness these past few days; the Peeps were a callin’ and we failed to resist the temptation of going HAM on our Easter candy baskets.

- After her beloved Norwich City’s 5-1 victory over arch-rivals Ipswich Town, Sky Sports asked celebrity chef/author, Delia Smith, to sing the victory track, “Ole, Ole” for at home viewers. As is usually the case with alcohol, her beer muscles took over and the result is a YouTube video that will live in infamy.

- Chelsea’s Mikel John Obi and a mystery companion were seen leaving the Mayfair hotel in London. Since we don’t have anything nice to say about her hair or her shoes we’ll just keep quiet.

- Happy (belated) birthday to Victoria Beckham, who turned 37 some days ago. She and the rest of the Beckham clan (bump included) swapped their seats on the hardwood for a box on the LA Kings’ ice Saturday night.

- Meanwhile, on the opposite coast of the U.S., Thierry Henry talked political strategy with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the Knicks game.

- Bastian Schweinsteiger had girlfriend Sarah Brandner’s first name etched into his NT Adidas AdiPure boots.

- The mother of all wedgies painfully took place at Celtic’s training ground over the weekend. No fun zone.

- Amidst some cyber bullying reports of his wife’s newly-established Twitter account, Wayne Rooney joined in on the Twitter fun. (P.S. despite our AWOL-ness as of late, you can still keep up with our random musings on Twitter, too!)

Thoughts on the events from these past two blissful days, Kickettes?

  5. IrishBlue says:

Poor Darron Gibson also joined twitter and lasted 2 hours before closing his account because of people writing nasty comments to him regarding his football skills (or lack of skills.)

  6. @linvinnaar says:

There is apparently a campaign going on by actor Paul Grattan a.k.a Stevie G's best mate/friend/buddy… and that is if Paul reaches 50k followers on Twitter by the end of August, then Captain Fantastic *will* join Twitter by the new season.

No chances of that, however. Stevie will be too busy making babies with me pre-season (don't tell Pepe Reina!). Ahem.

Every time I think Delia Smith can’t get any more awesome, she does. That video is a slice of brilliance that is almost as great as “Let’s be ‘avin you!”

    1) MJ Obi's outfit is pretty cute and age appropriate…why is the woman he's with dressed like she's 50 and selling real estate in Boca Raton?

    2) First his charming little essay on Messi in Time's 100 Most Influential People Addition and now hanging with Bloomie…Titi is smart-foxy-awesome. He's the NYC celeb I'm most excited to see (no spotting as of yet).

    3) Happy birthday and your daughter's, too, Kaka . They seem like such a lovely family.
