Kickette Catch Up: Your Weekend Gossip Cheat Sheet

Good lordy, our bootays are dragging today.

- Hope Solo covers American health and exercise magazine, Fitness, this month.

- Speaking of Americans in magazines, Carlos Bocanegra is apparently in the ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue, mostly naked. No images yet though.

- While we dread transfer window time, there’s very little in this world that we love more than a man in a butterfly sit. Bonus points if he’s on his back.

- There’s a big Neymar diving debate that’s happening everywhere else but here.

- The Beckhams sat in the Royal Box at yesterday’s Wimbledon final between Andy Murray and Roger Federer. One of them was definitely not following the events that unfolded in front of them.

- PS: as two of TomKat’s celebrity friends, which team do you think D&V will side on throughout the divorce proceedings?

- Kudos to the Chicago Fire for joining forces with Equality Illinois in what’s being lauded as the Midwest’s first formal partnership between a pro sports franchise and an LGBT-rights group.

- And finally, pics of John Terry looking chastened as he arrived for court are floating around, dispelling the notion that his looks that weird because he’s playing football. It’s meant to look like that. A little facetious for publication, but nice to have it confirmed.

Even though I wish it were Katie, I have a feeling that David has a stronger allegiance with Tom. I mean they do have a son named after him.

But I've read that they've already reached a settlement and now they are just working out the custody issue. I just hope Tom doesn't do to Katie what he did to Nicole.

  2. Sara in Paris says:

Ughhhhh Terry's hair. Why is it always so ugly? The short allover spike style is SO OVER. And for a man in his 30s, just OMG!

And Posh and Becks…. How annoying are they? David has become such a poseur. I cannot stand anymore that pose of his with one brow up one brow down. Yes it's cool, but notice how he does it 24h/7… Yes, almost everyone thinks you're hot but there's no need to overdo it. Sexy has to be effortless.

  3. Susan says:

Beckham wasn’t at the LA game because he got carded for:
    1. Drop kicking a ball at a player while he was down and hitting both the player and the ref.
(It was actually a really impressive 20-30 yard kick)
    2. Then getting in a fight with everyone on the other team, including the mascot.
And for some reason he only got a one game suspension.
Rumor has it that he got himself carded on purpose so he could go to Wimbleton. Obviously he has had the tickets a while.

  4. Sarie says:

So Beckham's contract with the Galaxy is just for shirt sales, right? I mean it's the middle of the season and he's on the other side of the planet from his team. He's going to be in London for the Olympics for three weeks too.

After the disgraceful, Rooney-esque tantrum he threw last week in the MLS, why not don a suit and go watch some tennis in your home country on your one match ban? The lads took care of the Chicago Fire, no problem.

Shirt sales for sure. Bonus: the Los Angeles lifestyle.

  5. Rachael says:

The Beckhams are becoming plain tiresome bet they were only there coz Kate was. They will also side with Tom because he’s the famous one (and most irkesome). Antonio actually bought a little sunshine into what has been another day of bloody rain (please no more) and John Terry is just well um John Terry really .

  6. Loninha - Brasil says:

I just want to remember that tomorrow is the birthday of my husband Mario Gomez Garcia, will complete 27 years! I love it, girls cheer for me to marry him, I will invite you all to my message and better casamanto my maid of honor along with Manuel Neuer! OK!

  7. Catty Women says:

"One of them was definitely not following the events that unfolded in front of them". so why is she there, for publicity? my curious soul would like to no. Solo just wow fantistic bod!

    • mata says:

She was decked out head to toe in her VB range, wearing an autumn dress and boots on a July day, so flogging her stuff was obviously one of the reasons she went, the other seems to have been to make a complete fool of herself, sitting through such an exciting match pouting and flicking her hair extensions and looking miserable and bored. Come to think of it why was either of them there, shouldn't he be playing football or something?

      • Kel says:

To be fair, the summer we've been having in England, the autumn clothes are probably quite appropriate.

      • DebS says:

"On Thursday, July 5, MLS suspended Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham for kicking that ball at San Jose Earthquakes' midfielder Sam Cronin in last Saturday's match. The league's actions are on top of the one-game suspension that Beckham earned for accumulating too many yellow cards." ;)

  8. TAMMYV says:

    Couple of things…

    A) Alexi Lalas was completely correct in his bashing of Beckham's attendance at Wimbledon.

    B) Lampard lied. That was not a box arranged by his manager. It is the box that AEG (the Galaxy owners) and the team uses. If his manager had been putting together a box of his own, it would not have been those two. The box is actually two combined boxes to make one super one. It also has a private club area with its own, top shelf bar and couches for lounging. Other people Lampard's manager must have invited were Brooklyn Beckham, Claudine Keane, their son, Senior staff of the Galaxy because they were all in the box too.
