Update: We’ve been slow on this news and not with good reason. Soz gang!

Reader, Carolina, writes in:

“Very sad news for us USA Kickettes that don’t have satellite service.¬† ESPN3 did stream the Spanish Super Cup, but not sure if they will show other Liga matches.”

American Kickettes, what do you make of this potential news? Will you self combust if you aren’t able to see Higi’s short tent or any of Parma’s torsos on the reg?

    G luck,

The Official page (SOCCER PRACTICE DRILLS)

For supporting soccer players all over the world, gives you all the TOOLS and the best products to improve your skills (mental & physical).

  2. Ron says:

i'm sure they're busy trying to figure out how to make more money off of it and us for the television industry

  3. Liz says:

Same in Australia too. It sucks balls!

  4. Devil-Ette says:

This BLOWS! No wonder I couldn't find streaming. Now I have to haul my ass to the Soccer Cafe if I wanna watch La Liga… or maybe the next Irish bar. Throw a stone in Haight and Ashbury!

  5. Diane Stewart says:

I live in the USA and am devastated that I can no longer watch La Liga games on cable TV. It's so stupid to come to America every summer to drum up interest, and then sign a deal with some Qatar outfit that won't show the games here. It totally sucks!!! I pay extra for a cable package to see the games, and now they aren't there anymore. This has really cut down on my options, especially since Real Madrid is my fave team. This is all about money, and it appears that no one cares what the fams want. However, they screwed themselves. How are they going to keep the interest up if they cut out a big market share?

  6. MrsShore says:

well in the UK we don't get to watch any football, except highlights, unless we have sky Tv at £20 a month then pay another £10 for sky sports. We don't even get our own EPL for free! The fans get shafted because the leagues charge more and more for TV rights so the clubs can afford to pay the players £200 grand plus a wekk? Disgraceful.

  7. @damesuzy says:

I don't see any Liga games on the schedule for Fox Soccer either. I have ESPN3, GolTV HD and Fox Soccer HD and without Liga games, what's the point? $ˆ&*@!! annoyed.

  8. Catie2838 says:

    A. Best pic of Iker, weirdest pic of Pepe. It's pretty much perfect.

    B. I have satellite and I never get La Liga/Serie A games, at least on any ESPN channels. I think I've seen one El Classico listed on ESPN Deportes, and that didn't even record when I set it to (that though is a DVR issue). Granted, I haven't checked in a while so maybe that's changed, but from my understanding I had to order a special package to see Serie A and La Liga games, and I've been far too lazy to actually do anything about it. I'm also not sure I want to get it. Either I spend half my time watching soccer and annoying everyone in my life with random stats (between baseball, Euro's, Tour de France and the Olympics, I've successfully made this the most annoying summer for my poor friends and family), or I won't have time to watch any of it and it'll be a waste of an extra $15 or so dollars a month. So, status quo it is, for now. Although, if any of you guys have DirectTV and can enlighten me, please do! Maybe I'll change my tune.

  9. iram1982 says:

is there something wrong with my ESPN 3 in particular? It's Sept 1, 2012….and there are no plans to show ANY La Liga games. Are any of u guys having the same problem?

  10. Catherine says:

Get Dish Network, which has BeInSport. It's not high def, but it's at least the game on the big screen.

  11. Tasha says:

Can you please create KicketteTV? im sure you'd have plenty of subscribers.
matches with instant replays of the glorious moments you seem to find in still frame .. extended periods at the end of matches to show the shirt swap.. player interviews..wag fashion segments..
    ah.. one can only dream.

because all i want to see is more american "fooball" players. bulky, soft muscle… my pet peeve. might as well be fat.

  12. Cindy Wincek says:

This is the worst damn news ever! I've been a wreck over it for the last few weeks…

  13. Dr. Heidi says:

My life this year will be without my Sergio and Real Madrid. damn AT&T….honestly, how are we Americans supposed to spread the football love in this country if we can see the games???? Back to watching old games from March and April…..grrrrr

    • Dr. Heidi says:

      i meant CAN'T see the games….sorry ladies. I'm venting

    • Nissan says:

I'm getting in on this thread late…..ah! I have to use the streaming service from ESPN (yep through AT&T phone account.) They have only a few more EPL matches to show throughout the rest of the season. Obviously it is all about some greedy boys and their stupid "my sports channel has more football than your sports channel." I totally feel same as you……this really sucks. Grrrrrr……..

  14. hrcksmrck says:

iker in this photo = pure sex *drools*

  15. Phoebe says:

New Zealand is also without La Liga! It's devastating that it's now so hard to watch my Barcelona, especially since I study and most games are on in the early hours of the morning! Please, please, please, kickettes, like my facebook page to try and bring La Liga back –…

  16. Diana says:

Having satellite installed at my house tomorrow! Adiós, Verizon Fios!

  17. sharon says:

Yes, I'm terribly very bummed that GolTV lost rights to LaLiga. I've talked to Comcast (my provider, f**kers have the market in Chicago) and they don't know when the licensing issues will be sorted out with beIn Sports. What crappy timing! Couldn't they have worked the details out prior to the start of the season? I've rationalized paying for cable TV for how much joy I get watching matches—sure, I still get Fox soccer so I can still watch EPL matches . . . but I want my LiLiga muy pronto. It's a shame that the leave fans in the dark because profit trumps all.

    • D0li says:

What!?!? How could GolTV loose the rights to La Liga!!?!?!?!?!! That was like half their games.

  18. RealFan7 says:

He's usually not my first choice, but for some reason I think this is the hottest pic I've seen of Iker. Those eyes are screaming f*** me, and I find myself wholeheartedly willing to volunteer!! I agree with some of the other ladies that RM winning the cup should have had it's own post. The boys in white played an unbelievable first half yesterday and truly deserved the win. I am also an american who is stuck without my LaLiga games and it sucks balls. Comcast supposedly reached a deal with beIn but it hasn't announced a start date yet. The worst part is that I don't know of any streams that show the replay of the game so if I am working durring the game, I'm reduced to highlights only. Fingers crossed we don't have to wait too long, girls… In the meantime, keep calm and Hala Madrid!

  19. Naomi says:

I am pissed off. How I am supposed to watch AC Milan matches with my whole family now? Smushed together trying to fit in front of my 13" laptop screen? This is ridiculous. I refuse to watch a blurry, low quality online stream that's not even in English or Italian and that shows Kevin Prince Boateng's beautiful face as just a blob (but I guess I'm gonna have to). My parents moved from Milan twenty years ago and they've kept following AC Milan here in the US as a way to stay connected to Italy. I'm outraged, they're outraged, and it doesn't look like our service provider (Verizon) is going to do anything about it.

    • Nicola says:

I feel your pain and share your outrage, fellow Milanista. Streams are my only option too. I've called and e-mailed Time Warner every week, but they still say they have no plans to carry BeIN Sport.

  20. DebS says:

I HATE it!!!!! Now I have to watch all the Madrid games on live streaming with crappy feeds that freeze every time one of those blasted pop-up ads appear. Didn't realize the Super Cup was on ESPN3 and the only feed I could get that didn't freeze for more than a few seconds at a time was in Arabic. At least if I had gotten a feed with Spanish commentators I would understand more than the players' names. lol

At least the Champions League and the EPL are still shown on FoxSoccer online and I don't have to watch them live. Now it's just La Liga that I have to find streams for.

    <End of rant>

  21. Rainbow says:

I am so angry/upset that they are doing this to us. How dare they expect for us fans to even resort to buying another system AND having to pay a lot of $$$ for a biggger package. Just to watch the games we should be able to see! I say it's a conspiracy theory to stop this great sport from growing here in the states. I will not buy there badly composed product and give in to their greedyness. I will stream my games from <!@#$%^&*> or another source and still have my drink. So shove i* beIn.

And no, ESP3 no longer carries then wether you have cable or XBOX or FOX2go or FOX.Booo!

  22. Carolina says:

Looks like Comcast is set to pick up BeIN Sports:…

  23. Hot4Spurs says:

Sadly, You'll have to subscribe to Fox Soccer to watch. You'll get two channels 1. Fox Soccer which shows epl and 2. Gol TV which shows La Liga and Serie A, sometimes Bundesliga. I have no clue how much the package is now but I'm locked in to pay $12/month.

  24. Sarah, Madrid says:

I thought this post about SuperCopa, but hey I will talk about it anyway! We just needed this damn it, it should be up by 7 goals, just just the finishing was sooo off!!!!
I still think this cup will not be counted in the end of the season, it was just a clasico, first Tito clasico hey we just can't let him win it, we dominated, played amazingly! still this team didn't reach peak, still team have a long way ahead!

    • DebS says:

I was SO happy to see the real REAL Madrid show up! The team that showed up in the first 2 league games looked like a team that had never played together before. This game we were totally in sync.

This win was smack in the face to all those who, after the first 2 games, had pretty much given the league to Barca. Like last year was just a fluke. smh

      Well done guys!!!

      • drea says:

LOL I know, right? 2 games in and you've got those media guys talking like it's April already. We started kinda slow last season too but look how that worked out. It was a good win, a great boost for the guys, and a really lovely welcome for Modric. I mean, who wins a trophy on practically their first day at work? Hala Madrid!

    • Kristina says:

Congratulations! But there is no "should" in football. RM did not get those 7 goal, simply because they where up against one of the best teams in the world. And in the second half they (Barca) dominated the game with ten men. Just saying. This season is gonna be just as tight between these two teams as it usually is. God help us!

      • Sarah, Madrid says:

        Ok fine, "could"!
See my motto in football is very simple, RM had by far the better chances of the game, or let's say more chances, for that I said we didn''t peak yet, that's you we're allowed with much freeoom in the second half because no one pressured you guys, but if you think dominating is keeping possession of the ball then yeah yeah you did, pedro had couple of good chances, tells I guess too, as well messi that one near the post in the end it just sounds solo dramatic because a2-1 is just a tight result, but overall it wasn't that great game of Clasico both teams seems tired, exhausted and not the time for it

  25. iram1982 says:

I am so happy for Real Madrid. What a way to start off the season!! :)

  26. Lily says:

No official post or recognition for Real Madrid winning Copa? Brushed off a pic with another topic? Tsk tsk kickette

I bet if Barca won they would have gotten a whole post to them selves!

    • Kristina says:

Ooops, I kinda thought this was it, but then I saw it wasn't. My comment is way OT, then :) .

      • DebS says:

OT is okay when there's no article covering the event you were commenting on. In my book, anyway. I'm sure Kickette is just taking their time writing a kicka$$ article complete with 1,000,000 pictures! Fingers crossed anyway. :p

  27. mila says:

but even that can get the admire of micheal scum platini to give the ballon d'or to the right person!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • DebS says:

I know! I realize that Iniesta is a great player and person but he should have won it LAST year. He was robbed then and they gave it to Messi. Now Ronaldo was robbed this year. What does the man have to do to win it? Save Messi from a burning building?!

  28. Gladys says:

I have to admit to being a Wiziwig thief unless I go to a bar (mostly because despite the fact that I pay a fortune to Time Warner for Internet, ESPN3 only let's you watch if you pay for cable TV– which I don't want– as well). That said, BeInSport has Ray Hudson announcing!!! That alone may be worth the price.

    • DebS says:

ESPN3 also lets you watch it if you are(were?) and SBCGlobal internet subscriber. Now that it's owned by AT&T, I'm not sure if it applies to all AT&T subscribers though. I originally subscribed to SBCGlobal before the buyout and I can still us ESPN3.

  29. Kristina says:

Congrats RM! That was so expected though. I knew it was it happening when Victor f*cked up. RM played like their lives depended upon it, and I don't blame them. Being five points behind Barca already in the league they just couldn't loose this one. I think the Bernabeu would have imploded if they had :) . They played fantastic in the first twenty minutes, really. And Leo! What a free kick!

But what's with the sexual tension between these two teams this season? First Coentrao tries to hump Leo, then Adriano is feeling Cristiano up. He got a red card for it as well. I bet it was worth it ;) .

Anyway, in the words of the great "Only one": I'd much rather lose this one and win the league.

Now, go Athletico tomorrow! Or Chelsea. I can't make up my mind.

    • Jayy says:

Omg I thought I was the only one who caught onto the whole 'sexual tension' thing – I'm not alone! :D
I think Adriano was trying to cop a cheeky feel whilst Higuain bending over constantly and baring his booty did not ease the tension at all! :P

      • Kristina says:

lol, I know! Maybe they will begin sharing the same hotels now? Sneaking in and out each others room?

        • Jayy says:

Haha you're so funny! :P I'm thinking late night rendezvous? Both teams make it too obvious that there is definitely something in the air between them. Wish we had tunnel cams!
I envy whichever lucky Barca player gets to have their way with The Ramos™.

        • GinaM says:

hahaha LOL @ Kristina LOVE IT!!!!!

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

I find so funny now everyone is quoting Mourinho's word, yeah he is deifnitely the "only one" he won supercopa, cdr and liga in every Spain, Portugal, England and Italy, no coach ever did this ;)

Anyway, I also agree with him, Liga still matters more, so is UCL too

      • Kristina says:

That's the dangers of having a big mouth, you know. Some things you say has a tendency to come back and bite you.

        • drea says:

I think you missed her point, again.

          • Kristina says:

I don't know, I was thinking of how Mou's words can come back and bite HIM. I don't think I missed her point? Or? I'm confused. Didn't mean any harm to Sarah though, that's all I know. If I did I'm sorry.

        • Sarah, Madrid says:

Ok fine Mou have a big mouth but words didn't come to bite him the ass at all if you mean liga saying more important that supercool true, our season didn't end by winning this title, then if you mean us losing points in Liga again week 2 nothing is won yet, then if you mean his comment only one then again he already won it so he said after actually winning all these titles, Until someone comes and do what he did, he will remain "the only one" and btw saw interview he was laughing about it, it was like a joke, jejeje fans are the one sticking the nickname to him, you are actually the one using the most sarcastically or not you are spreading it, it actually not witty or funny as "special one" because it had literal meaning of him being only coach doing it lol

    • DebS says:

Yay for my Madrid boys!! After seeing their first 2 league games and then the Super Cup I am even more positive that it was their stunt doubles that showed up for the league games. THIS is Real Madrid!!!

But yes, Leo's free kick was a GOLAZO! Can't deny the man credit for that.

  30. rioerry says:

Some of y'all need to calm the heck down. You'll be able to see all your lovely La Liga fella's, you'll just have to get satellite or be patient re. cable.
Bree—1. Comcast and BeIn reached a deal that will see BeIn carried by Comcast going forward. Obviously you'll pay a premium for it but that's the way it goes.
Tammyv- Not quite sure where you got BeIn sports annoying everyone but that sure isn't the case. It's not their fault Gol couldn't put up the dough to continue handling the leagues they lost rights for. It's a new network! It's not going to be perfect but in time it'll be smoother.
Pretty sure they didn't buy to be "cool" but rather bought to begin making a play for not just the soccer market in the U.S but the sports market over all. They don't need to cut any sharing presentation deals(no benefit to them), create another channel(when they've just begun one) and a streaming system is something that will probably happen in time a la ESPN, Fox, etc. They look no different than Fox Soccer or Gol tv when they began in the U.S in my opinion. Also, BeIn looking amateurish or unprepared for being a player in sports in America-in your opinion doesn't make a difference because the main thing is they got the rights for the leagues they wanted and will keep going till they get the rest of the leagues they want. You wanna watch those leagues on tv, you'll watch on their network, prepared/unprepared, etc. You gotta adjust your expectations and give them time.

    • PepaCandela says:

I think the bigger question was why the leagues would give up exposure in a market where the sport is still growing for Al-Jazeera cash up front. I know it's not BeIN's fault their bid was accepted, but it would have been nice for all parties involved to consider what this means for the fans.

Haven't heard an actual date as to when Comcast will being airing the channel, either.

    • tammyv says:

Hello BeInSport paid PR rep… fix the problems and you & or your collegues are well aware of the outrage seeing as y'all responded to almost every person I know's complaints about it over the weekend with the same stock response.

"you wanna watch those leagues on tv, you'll watch on their network, prepared/unprepared, etc."

see this is the thing.. this is no 1986 or 2000 even.. this is 2012 and there are a million streams so no I actually do not have to watch the network at all to see what I want. Besides, they are rarely showing what I went anyway.

You want to be big players. Step the hell up and deliver an acceptable product. The product being delivered and promised in the future is not acceptable. You need happy costumers to sell it to other cable providers, but since you have very few that should be an interesting attempt

      • DebS says:

"Hello BeInSport paid PR rep" hahahahaha you said exactly what I was thinking! Well done!!

  31. Kait says:

And they wonder why illegal threads thrive in the US. When they deny the legitimate watching options, we viewers in the States, have to find other ways.

  32. Regina says:

I've been calling and tweeting both the channel and my cable carrier (@beInSportUSA, @Uverse) but neither seem at all concerned or willing to give any estimate of when they might have a deal worked out. They won't even confirm they're negotiating. Uverse still doesn't have the Longhorn Network and that launched a year ago. (Not that I care about the Longhorns, but it shows how unconcerned they are about non-NFL fan bases.) I'm thinking I'm either going to miss the whole La Liga season or I'm going to have to get satellite. I wish there was a way to put enough pressure on them to make someone cave and strike a deal.

Totally agree with tammyv: beIN bit off way more than they can chew.

    • PepaCandela says:

I have Uverse, too. Lonhorn channel is also kind of niche, so more worrying is the fact that they still don't carry Disney Jr. If they won't pick that up in the face of a million irate parents of toddlers begging them to do so I see them holding out even longer on BeIN Sport.

I'm giving it a few months due to my previous horrible (HORRIBLE) experiences with Comcast, but I will switch eventually if they don't pick it up.

      • Regina says:

That's a good point. I don't have kids so was unaware of the Disney issue, and Longhorn was the only comparison I had. I don't think Comcast is even available in my area, and I've heard awful things about Dish and DirectTV. Come on, UVerse!

        • PepaCandela says:

It's sad bc Uverse is honestly the best cable service I have ever had, and I have recommended it to so many people. I would put up with streams like I used to, but the fact is that the time Liga matches are on in the US is right smack in the middle of the day and I often need to DVR them.

Keep on sending the channel requests!

  33. Chef Di says:

Serie A HAS vanished from our homes here in the US. I feel like my oxygen has been cut off; my world has ended as I know it. Now that I read how my Kickette compatriots feel about BEin Sport. I don't know what to do because I was thinking of getting satellite TV if possible, to be able to see the matches, but that might be a bad idea?

Would anyone like to share their home on the continent, at least temporarily until she is settled, with a great chef who names her (really good, I promise) recipes after our favorite 'ballers?

Now my need to move to Europe has just escalated, I'll be across the pond as soon as possible.

    • Chef Di says:

PS ~ Yes, LaLiga is gone too … GOLTV doesn't even have the highlights they used to have and, oh I can't go on, too painful!!!

    • Jayy says:

Just read your blog. You are a leg-end.
I especially love "Amaretto-Poached Peaches with Mascarpone, for Andrea Pirlo." ;)
You can stay with me anytime! :P

    • Kristina says:

      I feel for you :( .

  34. Bella says:

:( I went to troll the neighborhood bars yesterday to see who would carry and was ecstatic to find that my local (across the street) has it. But I hadn’t thought about the quality angle! Just thought they would screen someone else’s coverage. Yikes.
Now also have to figure out if I can cut loose any channels I pay for without losing other matches I want to watch. When money talks…!

  35. Bree says:

Gol TV lost the rights to air La Liga in the US. Be In is the channel nows airing them, although it is only available on one sattelite provider, not cable. ESPN aired the supercopa, and they or FOX will air the Champions League, as usual.

    • tammyv says:

it is actually available of Direct tv , Dish and comcast

      • darkchild says:

I have Comcast and paid for THREE separate packages and somehow still don't get La Liga. UEFA are on though. For the rest, I'm streaming until this gets sorted.

    • DebS says:

Champions League is shown on FoxSoccer online.

  37. Jayy says:

Thank God I live in the UK – football matches are like a staple dish here, there's always one being shown!
My condolences to the US Kickettes, I can suggest a few underhand websites *cough cough* that you can watch certain matches on, should you wish ;)

    • gin_in_teacups says:

I was just thinking that I'm suddenly feeling much better about going back to the UK next week. But yeah, if the TV stations don't want to cooperate, there are always ways to find what you need. And us girls here, we need our football(ers).

      • Jayy says:

HA! Football(ers) – I like what you did there ;)
Its such a shame when TV rights ruin the game – but then again in the UK, Sky Sports have pretty much bought every EPL, La Liga and CL game available, whilst the odd one goes to ESPN.

    • Rue says:

      suggest away hon!!

    • DebS says:

That's it! Time to move to the UK!!!

Until then, it'll just be and to get me through.

  38. thelovehater says:

beIn Sport – I don’t care for it. As far as watching games, Fox Soccer Premium or whatever it is called is what I mostly watch and use a stream for the really obscure leagues that don’t get on TV.

  39. senora ramos says:

it’s not potential news, it’s a fact. not sure how espn gained rights to the supercopa, but about 2 days before the season started that only directv and dish network would be carrying beIN TV even though they owned the leagues matches since the end of last season.
it’s total b.s. i haven’t gotten to find a reliable stream for either match thus far. I.AM.PISSED!!

  40. Amy says:

BeIn sports or whatever now has the rights in America. It’s available on DirecTV, which means that for most of us, we’ll have to head to sports bars to see the games. Not the worst thing in the world, but certainly an inconvenience… On the bright side, drinks and boys are both readily available at bars. Plus, at least FSN still has the Champions League rights!

  41. Lena says:

Yes, we’ve lost our coverage of La Liga and Serie A and are now left only with the Prem and a bit of Bundesliga between Fox Soccer and GolTV (both add-on monthly costs to cable packages). Poor timing all around as soccer has finally taken off in the States and there is finally an audience who craves this programming and is willing to pay for it in cable subscriptions. Big loss and it’s not as if one can switch providers, it’s just not available at all to us anymore.

  42. tammyv says:

InBeSport or whatever it is called is not anywhere near prepared to present these leagues with any creditably. So far they have managed to pretty much annoy everyone regardless of having the subscription or not.

They have a single platform to cover all of La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, The Championship, The UK Cups, half of Europa. There cannot handle what they have. Bradley's debut with Roma was show at 1:30 A.M. Monday morning on the west coast for example. It was like 15 hours after the match.

They bought to be cool without a shred of a though of how to present them. They either need to cut some sharing presentation deals, create another channel, or figure out a streaming system quickly or all three. they l;ook incredibly amateurish and unprepared for being a player in sports in America

    • DebS says:

FoxSoccer online shows the Europa, Champions League games, the UEFA Super Cup as well as EPL matches & the FA cup. I don't have the option of getting FoxSoccer on TV so this is a great alternative. It's not cheap…$20/month or $170/year but definitely worth it imo.
