Lazy Links And Randoms

100 days until World Cup 2010 kicks off! We’re bursting with excitement.

(Although there’s still so much to do – mani/pedi sessions to be booked, bottom-skimming hair extensions to be woven, fake bakes to be misted. And most importantly, reservations in the hotel next to the Spanish team need to be made/bribed.)

For now, we’ll settle for catching up on the latest WC-related news.

Goodness, we can hardly believe it’s almost four years since that headbutt. The ever principled Zidane’s been reigniting the flames, claiming he’d rather die than apologize.

- On the topic of dear PR-friendly Zizou, stumbling across the above pic brought a tear to our eyes. Back in 2002, a slightly less balding, more toned, and youthful Zizou was scoring a screamer to win the Champions League for Madrid. Now? We can’t stop looking at those knees… It’s true what they say; age catches up with even the most beautiful.

- At least the new generation of French talent are doing us proud. Eyelash extraordinaire, Yoann Gourcuff, has put his best pout forward to model France’s official World Cup kit.

- Not to be outdone, checking out the England promo shot for Umbro, we’re glad an executive decision was made for tight white shorts. Now let’s hope it rains every day in South Africa. Please, weather Gods, be kind.

- Some more stills of Pepsi’s World Cup advert. We like; shirtless Thierry, copious amounts of body paint. Not so sure on Lionel’s bowl cut or Didier’s dodgy shirt.

- No football saga would be complete without a few choice words from Roy Keane.  “People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish.”

- Clint Dempsey talks Landon Donovan and rapping. Let’s hope he loses the beard before the group stages.

- Coleen Rooney is the latest WAG to hop on board the South Africa boycott. No Cheryl or Elen, no Alex or Coleen…? Pray the rest of the squads come through with the Wagtastic goods.

- Steven Gerrard is set to captain England tomorrow in the friendly against Egypt. In other NT news, we suspect Lampsy has invested so much cash in his quest to avoid being pictured with is she/isn’t she gf Christine Bleakley that he’s had to indulge in some kind of ‘ I cut your hair- you cut mine’ deal with Michael Carrick.

- Even Italy is in on the John Terry jokes these days. But, we reckon Wayne Bridge’s next birthday present for Vanessa might do a better job…

- We’re backing the Danish World Cup song to be one of our fav things in South Africa. Future Eurovision entry, anyone?

- Still not in the World Cup spirit? Take a look at this impressive display of full-frontal thrusting from Xavi. Excited yet? We certainly are.

Cant believe John Terry actually took the condom. Atleast he can have a slight snese of humor about this.

I’m sorry to say that the Dutch wags (so no Sylvie and Yolanthe) won’t be present either. Maybe after the group stage but certainly not from the start.

    Happy early 4th B-Day Kickette.

I like Duce and the beard!

Lamps and chickie-d are comic gold. Seriously, he is treating her like the mistress he is trying to hide from his wife not a girlfriend.

I’m actually in the process of looking for a hotel right now. Anyone know where La Roja are staying?

        unfortunately, I don’t :(
but what the heck, I’m sure fellow kickettes will have every single hotel in SA covered!
