Lazy Links & Randoms

Injury hasn’t affected Michael Ballack’s snark-bone. German NT watchers, do you agree with his opinions on Joachim Loew?

Live the footy life, virtually at least.

Gordon Strachan says Wayne Rooney is completely unplayable.

Looks like David Beckham will be training with AC Milan this winter. Let’s hope he gets over there before Paolo Maldini officially retires *sob* so we can enjoy the well-aged pitch hotness.

Speaking of Mr. Maldini, there’s a buzz of gossip in Italy over photos of he and model Michelle Hunziker sharing a kiss. But really, does this look even remotely untoward?

Champions League highlights for those that missed ‘em. Wuv you Cesc!

Who’s the best-dressed DC United player? Frankly, we couldn’t care less, but it’s always nice to see sexy Santino Quaranta in promo mode.

Need more Nando-modelling porn? Close the door and check out the videos from his El Corte Ingles photoshoot.

And finally, a very happy belated b-day to our favourite rough-and-ready baller, Nemanja Vidic, who turned 27 yesterday.

omg! well, the right thing would be to directly talk to jogi, but since a lot of them aren’t doing this, it only makes me think that it’s not possible, so they used other ways to be heard. i totally agree with bally in what he said about frings and about kuranyi. and there’s also hildebrand. he is a good experienced goalie, and jogi just DOESN’T call him!! oh, and happy belated b-day, vidic *-*

Omg I still can’t believe Maldini is retiring… btw he is doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to that girl in the photo apart from saying goodbye normally. I think it’ll be good for Becks to get back to a proper football league. And I’m still impressed by those Nando-modelling pictures!

Rooney is on fire and I’m loving it :) . Happy Birthday to our luscious man mountain, Vida!

Michael Ballack has always been kind of whiny, but really, really to-the-point with the media (when you follow him for 10 years, this is really, really apparent. Also – Ballack doesn't lie or have self-control by any means) so I kind of see what he's saying just because I've realized what he TRIES to say. No offense to the guy, but he deffo isn't the sharpest tool in the shed so he doesn't know how to word things to say what he wants. Some parts I agree with, others I just kind of want to smack him and say "YOU DON'T SAY STUFF LIKE THAT!" Just my opinion. I mean, I'm always going to stay by Micha's side just for a bias I have formed and can't help, but… I see where Jogi is wrong and I see where Micha is wrong. Jogi was right in that it should be kept private, though and Micha was deffo wrong in blabbing about it to the media. But then I also think that Michael was right in that senior players deserve respect and that a position in the National Team should be based on skill alone. Once again, just my opinion which may be HIGHLY blemished in the fact that I adore Michael Ballack.

Thanks for the Vida shout, Ms. Kickette.

I’m trying not to think of Paolo retiring.  I know that it’s time but it’s still hard to accept *sniffs*

  10. Mrs. John Terry says:

Becks leaving for Itlay? Could be the final straw to his marriage… As Ballack is concerned: Shut up! This whole Capitano-thing has really gone to his head. Only 11 boys can play on the pitch. For the sake of winning it'd better be the BEST 11 ones. This whole discussion is so stupid. First Kevin Kuranyi, then Thorsten Frings, now Michael Ballack. Embarrassing! An insult to the fans.

  11. AnnaBlume says:

Frings and Ballack have always been pretty frank with the media, when it came to not being called up or feeling treated unfairly, so this isn't a surprise. Still, I think they shouldn't always make everything public, that just doesn't help the team. While I agree with Ballack that older players deserve respect, I also think they shouldn't always be given a bonus, just because they're more experienced. Concerning Kahn, Lehmann was simply better than him at that point and deserved to finally get to play for the NT. As much as I love Hildebrand, Enke and Adler are simply better than him right now. I'd still like to see him called up as third keeper though. I think that kiss between Maldini and Michelle Hunziker looks like they're just saying hello.

micha i love you – always will.. but buddy, not through the media..!! i know you're sticking up for your homeboy (which is nice to see) but dude, this kind of talk only hurts the team.. and anna, sadly some coaches have their favourites and will miss out on choosing some good guys.. just the way it is.. :( *shakes head and laughs at video game* and happy b-day vidic.. :)

I forgot everything else in the post because Fernando Torres stole my attension, He looked fitt!

  14. aristeia says:

The only thing I have to say is… we’ll miss you Il Capitano! :(

  15. LynxKitten says:

Maybe Loew didn’t listen to the way Ballack, Frings and Kuranyi spoke to him, perhaps they weren’t respectful enough. When you sass your parents, don’t they just say “Because I know better, and I say so.”? JLX, Arne might have used a nicer way of talking to the coach, so he got what he wanted. :)
