Look Who’s Back: Yoann Gourcuff, Lyon

Yoann Gourcuff returned to Ligue 1 last night for Lyon, after an extended lay-off that has seen speculation mount about his future in the club.

Yo-Yo replaced Grenier Clement on 64 minutes, but was unable to make an impact in the game, which finished 3-0 to Toulouse. Fortunately, the same cannot be said for his thighs, the aftershocks of which are still reverberating around the Kickette office.

We missed them you ever so much, Yoann.

Oh Yoann, my love for you will never die. Why do Kickette insist on rarely showing him!! It gives me withdrawal symptoms.

I actually watched the match [being half French I feel I have a duty to watch Ligue 1, which isn't bad when you have people like Giroud and Gourcuff playing :D ], and he actually played well; good passing, great corners, but he came on too late to make a difference. Still, a very promising return; the fans are very much behind him after his performance, and hopefully he'll return to the level he was at when he was at Bordeaux. I have a feeling Wenger will buy him sooner or later though, which as a red-blooded woman who supports Arsenal, I am very much in favour of ;)
