Manchester City Fans Baton-Charged By Spanish Riot Police

Woah. We heard there had been some skirmishes but that’s some pretty damning proof.

Four thousand City fans, whose team took on Real Madrid in a Champions League opening fixture last week, stormed the Spanish capital in support but were sadly “greeted” by overzealous riot police.

As HuffPost Sport notes, this footage has been widely condemned by several figures within the footballing community. If any of our English-club-supporting Kickettes plan on travelling to upcoming CL matches in Europe, we hope you do it with caution and care.

Yet another reason to hate RM…

This is not a being English or Man City problem, it's a Madrid problem. Having lived right by the stadium last year, I saw incidents like this by both police and radical RM fans. It got to the point where during the CL match between RM and Bayern, they pushed me away even though I am not 1. German, 2. nor was I attending the match. I was pushed and hit by Real Madrid fans, again assuming I was German, and people nearby were setting of big firecrackers. This shit is a Spain problem, anyone who looks "different" is at risk there, especially many blacks that I had seen being beat up.

It is about City fans, the sad reality of Spain police, nothing to do with City fans or English!

Believe me, it's NOT because they are ManCity fans. They are beating everyone up!

It's awful and by accounts of people who were there, no one can figure out what kicked it off. Higher ups are looking into it, but really, what can be done? It's the police.
Even though it was a small gp of police and not RM fans that did this, I hope and pray, there is no retaliation to RM fans when they go to Manchester. But there are stupid people everywhere. :/

What are those policemen on? The supporters didn't look too violent to me, I've seen a lot worse at my local stadium here in Stockholm. Hooliganism can never be excused, but this?! They were drunk and disorderly I can imagine, but did the police really have to beat them in the head?
