Manuel Neuer: Got His Mind AND The Money
Boys, eh? Give them a football, they kick it. A water bottle, they spray it. An air-rifle… well, let’s not go there.
But sometimes, just sometimes, players exhibit a startling braininess. There was Clark Carlisle and his awesome ‘Countdown’ run. Frankie Lampard and his Latin GSCE. And the anonymous dude who keeps us guessing via his Guardian column entitled ‘The Secret Footballer’, to name but a few.

The latest player to simultaneously confound our expectations and increase his HQ (Hot Quotient, obv) to almost unprecedented levels is Manuel Neuer. The Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper appeared on a celebrity edition of TV quiz show ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ this week, and won €500,000 for charity, utilising those hidden depths we’d love to become more acquainted with.
Check out his amazeballs performance in the video above. It’s in German, but if you don’t speak it, don’t panic. It’s fairly obvious what’s going on and by the time you realise how cute Manuel looks when he’s thinking, you won’t care anyway.

I saw this show on the TV, he's too cute and intelligent
and he's a very friendly person. i like his calm character and his simpleness :* Greets from Germany <3
The questions are kind of hilariously easy though. I only watched to about 3000 though.
Thats exactly the point of it because they donate the money they wanted to make sure that they at least get some money…
but the later questions are a little harder…
by the way he was the only one to earn 500 000 the others all only got 250 000
Does the presenter start out be saying Neuer is single and has no kids?
I wanna go to gameshows like that!!!!!!!!
I don't want to disappoint you, but he says "Manuel Neuer, 25 years, unmarried, in a relationship, no kids"
It's okay, she can have him, I don't find him attractive. I just thougt it was funny, he was presented that way, but apparently all contestants are, so there's a dating aspect over the show all of a sudden
Yes, but, to be absolutely exact, he says "ledig, liiert, keine Kinder". "Ledig" means unmarried, but "lieert" means he's in a relationship.
I love that they introduce the celebrity contestants the same way they do the normal ones.
For those of you who don't understand German: for the phone-a-friend lifeline, Manuel said he had his brother (who's studying theology and history) and his half-brother (who's a biology teacher) standing by. He ended up calling the biology teacher.
I never heard past ledig
I'm not into him at all, I just found it interesting, that the contestant is presented that way. So it doubles as a dating show!!!
But thank you for the answer
Haha, I never thought of it like that, but you're right! They even tell the audience which city/town the contestant lives in. It's all very helpful information.
let the stalking begin!!!
That's good…I'm still studying Latin and I also have an A like Lampsy,I really think that it's marvellous, but maybe I'm fool…
Great keepers are mad geniuses – I LOFF Ducky:)
