Midweek Champions League Results: Good For You?

UEFA Champions League

Internazionale Milano Champions LeagueChampions League

And then there were four.

After two more action-packed UEFA days, Barcelona will face Inter Milan and Bayern and Lyon will square off in the semi-finals of the European competition. Sadly for us, there are no more English teams left in the tournament. Don’t know about you all, but pub chips are a plenty in Kickette HQ to ease the pain.

Who's on top and bottomAlso: what’s up with the lack of nekkidness? The one unidentified Bayern boy and another Barca pile-on ain’t cuttin’ it. If this is an omen of what’s to come then we’re quickly going to lose the will to write. Save us, Kickettes, and show some photo link love plus your thoughts in the comments.

SO proud of Bayern. Considering my deep seated hatred for Man Utd, I feel that loss was quite deserved. This does take the sting off Lyon advancing. I will certainly miss Yoann.

As far as the Barca match, that was almost hard to watch. I'm not an Arsenal supporter by any stretch but hot damn, Messi is on fire.

  2. lorena_chanel says:

I was so MAD in wednesday!!!I was dreaming for Manchester United vs Bordeaux semifinal from the beggining of the season-so that Fergie can see Yoann-the most perfect man in the world,so gorgeous,so beautifull, with that lips, and those eyes…and of course THE eyelashes…complitly out of the track…(as always when i am talking about Yoann:-))anyway, i was saying Fergie will notice talentad Yoann Gourcuff and bring him to Manchester so that he can play with Rio,Patrice,Owen,Rafael,Fabio,Nemanja,Giggs…Ohhh gosh:-( and for the record-i hate Arjen Robben,or whatever his name is…

    • Thea says:

like your thinking – but it wasn't to be. Have to pin my hopes on Arsenal now if he is to aviod the traversty that is RM – where bad fashion happens to good people!

      • lorena_chanel says:

Me too hate the idea of Yoann going to Madrid! I am still recovering from Cristiano's transfer to that…well let's call it team! But had to admit that i am enjoying watching CR in white-so HOT when he's wearing WHITE!!!:-) but this thread is about one and only Yoann-i don't think that he is right for Madrid, especially if you consider the fact that mister I_AM_SHOPPING_PLAYERS_LIKE_GILRS_HEELS Perez want's Ribery…Yoann is meant to be player of Barcelona,or Arsenal:-) just imagine him celebrating goal with Fabregas,WALCOTT and Chamakh:-) mmmmm to good to be true…

  3. Winnie says:

    good for me? not really…

Arsenal's loss and Cesc's injury last week truly broke my heart. and Nicky worked so hard to step up to the plate–everyone did! but Arsenal defense was clearly struggling. although i knew that a win at Camp Nou would be nearly impossible for us, i was praying for a miracle (in other words–that Messi would not be able to play for some reason or another). to add to my disappointment, Bordeaux couldn't get another goal and now i will no longer be able to drool over Lashes and Chamakh :( but it's okay, because i like Lyon either way–and they deserved it.

i have no idea who to go for now though, however (no offense) i felt a little bit of solace in United's loss, since i can't stand them, not too many people had faith in Bayern, but i did! :D besides, the semis wouldn't be right if United made it without Chelsea there anyway…

i absolutely DESPISE Inter (with a burning passion–AC MILAN FOREVER) so my picks for the final are either Barca and Lyon or Inter and Bayern simply because i feel that the Barca and Inter game is practically worthy of being a final. i really can't see any other finals, but i may be wrong, if Inter is in the final i will most likely cry–if they win i will burn my friend's jersey.

but after the way Lyon played against Bordeaux i think they might be able to hold their own against Bayern. if they can't i won't be too upset–i like Bayern anyway. if they make it to the final, i hope they win–if Barca win at the Bernabeu, there will be riots in the streets (lol jokes…but not really :| )

    that is all! :D

  4. Alisha says:

I’m an Arsenal fan and also a Barca fan and I never really thought we could beat Barca and I definately though we’d never beat Messi…he was incredible and in my opinion the best player ever! Gutted that Bourdeaux went out…no more Yoann :( But chuffed Bayern went through…still got Bastian :) Barca to win again :D

  5. barca4ever says:

i love barca, barca to the final and ibracadbra is so hot

    • Thea says:

i know! but am a little worried that Inter will mark Messi and make it hard for us! I just want us to take the Bernabau on Saturday and at the CL final!

  6. Deffo-Nando says:

hehehehehe XD results were just fab for me even though yoann won’t be in the semis.

  7. LuvinBale says:

Sad to see Man U out of CL but now I can put all my effort into rooting for Barca! Messi can take them all the way.

  8. Erin says:

It seems the English dominance in late stages of the CL is slipping. Makes things more interesting for everyone else, I suppose.

  9. pandora says:

not good for me (manchester united fan :) ) I was so happy after first 45 minutes but second half-time was bad but it´s not easy to play with 10 players. I feel so bad for Rafael, it looks like we lost game because of his inexperience but he is young and one day he will become great defender like rio and nemanja :)

Now I support Lyon but I think Barcelona will break them all and win Champions League

  10. senora ramos says:

well, all i can say is go special one and bayern.

rm girls, how much worse of a final could there be with lyon and barca?!

    enough to make me cry

    • Mel says:

Sweetie, Barca at Bernabeu in the CL final is bad, but I believe a Barca loss on Real ground, is a Real victory in the end ;)

Think of it that waym stay positive :D

I'm also ready for el clasico, except, I have a familie thing…. And to make It worse, I've put money on a Real win.

Have you entered Bwin's Save the Game contest? https://www.bwin.com/public.aspx?aid=34646&zo…

Mmmmm, to win an away trip with RM (stay at the same hotel), or a ticket to the CL final to watch Barca loose.

      • Thea says:

watch it Missy! Remember you have to make the final (and the semi, and the quatre finals) to become a runner up – but I guess followers of RM would have forgotten that as they can’t make it past the last 16!

Barcelona bask in the glory money can’t buy! Take your 225 million Euro’s and shove it!

        • Mel says:

I’m sure you would want Real to lose, if the final was at Camp Nou and Real was in it, and Barca wasn’t.

I’m not saying Barcelona doesn’t deserve to win til CL final. Because they are the team I’m with, if I had to choose between the four teams, that’s left, and I’m sure madristas would be proud that another Spanish team won, when it could no be Real Madrid.

But it’s gonna hurt if Barca wins the CL final at Bernabeu, because it is madrista grounds, not barcelista (dunno know to spell that)

From a neutral point of view Barcelona derserves to win, because they have been the best team consistently through out the whole turnament.

But my heart will break, if they end up lifting the trophy at Bernabeu in Mai.

          • senora ramos says:

i agree with you mel about everything except i hope the special one sneaks through. barca are the best team left, but my heart would be too heavy. i think that it is 60-40% of the madradistas hoping the blaugrana don't win it vs do though. i am proud that a la liga team are still in, though. if they get past inter, i will support…cough, cough….gag…barthalona in the final. there i said it :)

            • MrsNesta says:

Have yourself a martini girl :)

I'll be rootin' for RM (Iker) and hopefully will be seeing a lot of lush manlove going on! :)

              • senora ramos says:

i'm hoping that sergio feels so much joy sat that he dances around the pitch in his underwear!!

and i'm going to have serious amounts of alcohol on hand to either celebrate or drown my sorrows :)

                • MrsNesta says:

Thea you are hilarious………love it :)

                • senora ramos says:

thea love, there is a difference between cocky and confidence. my team has not shown "leaks" in liga in quite sometime. and IF we do lose to barca, i don't think it shows leaks (unless, horror of horrors we somehow have a double of last year, which i doubt highly) as you guys are an amazing team. i can respect my rival without having to get too ugly about it.

and i'm at a loss about the 22nd. unless you mean the 20th or may 22nd??

on another note, sucks we will not see ibra or kaka on the pitch. who do you think y'all will start instead?

                • MrsNesta says:

                  Well put senora ramos :)

                • Thea says:

Whatever it takes ladies to steady your nerves and RM’s increasingly leaky vessel!

                • senora ramos says:

last i checked in the liga there are no leaks. thanks for you’re concern though :)

                • Thea says:

Let’s see if you are so cocky come Sunday morning – and gasp on the 22nd of April.

              • Thea says:

Well – I'm not concern with RM's starting line up – whoever they start ends up being an expensive waste of time. And the CL final is on the 22nd of May – and whoever wins – one things for sure, it won't be RM!

                • senora ramos says:

i assumed that's what you were alluding to when you put 22nd of april.

and i meant who do you think will be in for ibra. i know who my team will line up and how you feel about them ::brokenrecord:: do you think they start bojan?

                • Thea says:

Ramos – the debate solved itself! Don't mess with the best, cause the best don't mess, don't fool with the cool, cause the cool don't fool! Cheesy but true! There are no words to describe how good my boys are!

    • Thea says:

Ramos – once again your biased RM view gets the better of you! Barca vs Lyon final all the way! Go Barca boys! Be the first to retain the CL!

      • senora ramos says:

thea, imagine a rm and whoever knocked you out of the cl final at the camp nou and at least understand (if not mock) my pain :(
        :)

        • Thea says:

Aw babe!! You gotten toughen up luv, we haven't even gotten into El Classico yet!!! Barcalona got knocked out then by better teams, just as RM does now, along with ManU, Chelsea and many others!

          • senora ramos says:

well, i know. just hurts worse being at the bernabeu.

my #4 kit is all ready for sat! thea, here's too a great match with no injuries!!

  11. No whining from me. Congratulations to Bayern Munich, the better team over the two legs. I won’t be supporting any other team, I never do, and I don’t really care who wins now. The revelation of the night for me was Nani. He truly deserves to wear the Manchester United shirt now. And I never ever thought I’d say that.

    • And by the way, the City and Liverpool fans last night on twitter making jokes about Munich? Shame on you.

      • Erin says:

I believe you will find that the vast majority of Liverpool fans on Twitter also said such comments were disgraceful and unacceptable. No need to give voice to an ignorant minority.

  12. TB says:

HELL F'N YEAH my result was good for me. First time in SEVEN years miei ragazzi have made it to the semis and I'm so damn proud of them. I could give a rat's arse about the other results, I only focus on us. FORZA INTER!!!!

  13. DutchGooner says:

The champions legue is not the same without an English team…We got outplayed and outclassed by Barca, Messi was unbelievable…
tough luck Utd really thought they wer going to cruise after scoring 3 goals, i guess it really is true when my mum says ‘it ain’t over till the fat lady sings’, what a stunning goal by Robben wow, am rooting for either inter or bayern now because of the dutch connections (inter:sneijder, bayern:Robben, ban bommel :) )

  14. Linda (Gooner till I says:

I'm sad, but not disappointed or angry. To the contrary – I'm proud of my lads. They were very brave. But Barcelona is just miles, miles away. And they have Messi, the Greatest. :) As Arsene said: "Messi is like playstation player." :D

Congrats to Barca, I hope they win it!!!

  15. Ella says:

Very disappointed ManU is out. I always have to root for someone, to make it fun, so at this point I will support Inter. Mostly b/c Jose is so hot. But he really needs to cut his hair, I'm not a fan of this bushy 'do he has going on right now.

  16. HJ says:

yay! Barcelona got through!I’m so happy with Messi (I keep telling everyone I was the one who discovered him :) ) BUT I don’t like what the people at the stadium do when he scores :the bow-thing with their arms.
I love the pix where Pique’s throwing notes at Cesc! So cute!
MU: I quite like Bayern Munich so I can;t complain!
btw, howcome Barca has to face all the tough teams (Inter, Arsenal, Inter again) to go through?

  17. Messiforpresident says:

To me this was a very good result, though i am so sad for Rooney and Man U :( .

But two swedes are still on: Zlatan and Kim Källström in Lyon! Yessss!

And then, the one and only, sent from heaven, golden boy Messi! Life is good.

  18. The Barcagirl says:

I`m so proud of Bayern and Barca. I love my Bbs, so I hope there will be a final between those two. Then I can be happy for both, but I secretly wish that Barca will win. It would be great to tease every Real Madrid fan with winning the final at the Bernabeu. Lol.

  19. NinyaC says:

    "Good For You?"

VERY good. Nice to see some new teams in the competition. Rooting for Inter though. :) And I guess Lyon.

  20. bayanikins says:

all of my teams got out including bordeaux :( but bayern is the only one who is still fighting..hope they win!!!

  21. zanzalita says:

I feel so bad for United…. They really deserved to go through to the semi-finals. :(

    • Linda (Gooner till I says:

      No, they really did not.

    • Missy Manchester says:

It’s the morning after and I’m still sad! :(

Man Utd showed up in a big way for this game. Lots of energy, control, confidence, brilliance…then…Rafael got sent off for something ridiculous. He looked so miserable walking off the pitch. Poor guy.

Regardless of the scorecard, I couldn’t be prouder of my team.

I’m now rooting for Jose and his boys.

  22. Anna says:

Baaaaaaayern! I’m smiling nonstop ;DDDDDD. Sisisi, nekkid dude is Daniel Van Buyten.

  23. Trisha (Mrs Iker Cas says:

Now, it only remains to be seen which league is the best in the world…

French, Italian, German or Spanish…. Ha ha ha

but then again if we have God (Messi) playing with humans which is so unfair….. which team do you think will win???

  24. FootballerChick43 - "Mrs.Ballack" says:

Amazing. Bayern Munich! I love them, lol.

And now I’m ducking and hiding.

  25. natasha says:

"unidentified bayer boy"… it's van buyten

  26. tammyv says:

Pep v. TSO – The style off…. That is good for civilization.

  27. lila says:

No more Yoann…makes me sad!!!! Thank God for Messi! Thanks to him we still have Piqué and (my favorite) Ibra!!! ;)

  28. carly says:

    Lyon FTW! (Ideally.)

Realistically it will be really hard for any team to challenge Barça and Lyon seem like the weakest link.

It's interesting that no EPL team is present for the first time in 7 years. One team from each country this year is more interesting than 3 teams from England from previous seasons, in my opinion of course.

  29. Inés says:

I'll cheer Lyon! My team is out of CL :(

  30. Molly says:

I don't even want to talk about it :( !!

  31. liv says:

Pure evil! Manchester united and Bordeux out o God i hate Wednsday from now on! and for the record Yoann must naver defend a free kick!

  32. Andrew Weber says:

Because I am so kind, I am going to give you a link to an image that I'm sure a lot people here will like.

    http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Pix/…

And just for the record, I'm going for Lyon to win it now!

    • MrsNesta says:

      Yes you're very kind :)

      • Thea says:

Oh thankyou – did feel devasted by Yoann distress at losing, but overall am thrilled with the final four! Well done all four team. Go BARCA!!!!

    • Trisha (Mrs Iker Casillas) says:

You are very kind indeed…. I bet you can be kinder with Iker pics too…
      Thanks. Lol.

  33. anja says:

what is a champions leaque without vidic and vermaelen? :(
