Midweek Results: Good For You?
Image: REUTERS/Eddie Keogh.
We’re reluctant to admit this, but that magic lamp we sunk our social life savings into last year may be on its last leg. At least, that’s the only fathomable explanation we surmised for yesterday’s lack of shirtless action.
To err is human, but where there was no midsection skin, there was plenty of short tents – breathing renewed life into our relentless pursuit of identifying Chelsea’s phenomenal kit material. If someone can send us the appropriate thread counts of polyester (or other normally non-flattering fabrics), our petition for the Barclay’s Premier League will be near complete.
So, Kickettes, was your preferred match day liquor served in several shot glasses, a chalice that was modified for decorative purposes or a guzzle-as-you-go tumbler during last night’s Chelsea/Manchester United game?

I said "If Lampard scores I'll get crazy"… well, I just got crazy.
Oh my god, David Luiz is such a good player! I could fall in love!
KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!
this midweek was so awkward :S
Nani you little pounce, get over yourself!
Haha that is so true, I don't think someone can be indifferent when it comes to Man Utd, ya either love them or hate them, and I love Sideshow! Love how all the Torres transfer stuff overshadowed him a bit when he first arrived but look who's the star of the show now
This pic sealed the deal for me I must say: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_4Erd0wd-1xo/TD7eq1MGrJI/AAA…
Same here. Good job, Luiz and Lampard- at this point I know my Reds aren't in contention for the title, but hey, any knockdown of one of our worst rivals just before they face us, is welcome!
Plus there’s the nice little bonus of Vidic not being in the lineup when your Reds take on the Devils. Not too shabby! You’re welcome, I guess! Good luck this weekend, take some more points off them! For everybody.
no complaints here!
I am sooooooooooooooooooooo not a Manchester United Fan nor a Chelsea fan but MAN-O-MAN did I want United to win. Now Spurs have to win against Wolves to move back into 4th.
I thought Torres looked amazing!!! He was on fire last night.
BTW–Does anyone else notice the close resemblance of David Luiz and Sideshow Bob from The Simpson's?
"I thought Torres looked amazing!!! He was on fire last night. "
I thought he played really well too. He may not be scoring yet but he definitely impacts their play and opportunities at the goal.
Only here to say that this Ivanovic guy… H-O-T.
Ok, bye
this midweek has been very good.and i agree with all the other comments arsenal are well on the way to glory.:)
it's really too bad about Theo, Cesc and RVP tho. They really need them, especially against Barca. It's going to be tough enoughto win at the Camp Nou even if they were healthy. ={
we can do it.i have 100% confidance in my boys.i personally think barca have it harder then arsenal.
I've never really given that much attention to David Luiz until yeaterday. I love his hair and the fact that he appears to be small, but he was really showing some bad boy attitude. I may have to add him to my dorkable but still doable list.
I was also wanting chelsea to lose so that spurs would still be top 4. That's saying a lot Kickette because I am no fan of rooney!
Small? I think he's pretty tall. He was about one head taller than Rooney and got all the headers, I think.
I didn't mean small height but small body size. Wayne Rooney is short, but he is wider that Luiz.
I love your "dorkable but still doable" list! I think that describes about everyone I've ever dated. And I'd definitely add David Luiz.
Did you know that a Google search for "short tent" brings up THREE links to Kickette? I stand in awe.
Oh, great midweek results as far as I'm concerned, thank you very much!
Sevilla WON beautifully! Bravo! They played yesterdays game with a confidence I haven't seen for a while.
I'm very pleased with Chelsea keeping up the suspense in the EPL. Arsenal are on their way to glory, I tell you! (just not in the CL, ok guys?
).
But it's still midweek and Barca is playing their game against Valencia soon. Poor Pep is hurt. He suffers from acute back pain. You know, I'm one helluva masseuse when I want to. Come to me Pep and I will ease your pain! (well even a married woman can dream, ok)
yes! 1-0 against Valencia, not many chances created by both sides but we got the one that counted. I'm glad the boys are learning to grind out these one-nil matches rather than trying too hard to play dazzling football (and getting frustrated). Loved your last line about massaging Pep.
It was tight and it took a lot of hard work from both teams. I agree with your point about grinding out one-nil matches. I enjoyed watching, it it was a nailbiter. And did you see how pale Pep looked? Poor thing! He missed my magic touch, I'm sure.
So happy about Barca's win, but it was also just plain fun (and tense) to watch. Valencia played amazingly and it was easily the fastest game I've watched all season, with pretty equal ball possession. As for masseuses, Lotte, I think Barca needs some women like you. Clearly the male physio staff is not producing results fast enough since Pep and some of our players are still injured.
It takes a woman. It always takes a woman.
It really was a fantastic game by both sides. I have to admire Valencia's "never say die attitude" and their goal keeper really stepped up.
Poor Messi was having a rough game for the most part and there was a bit of sniping between the Barca players, which kind of suprised me. Seemed they too were a bit frustrated by Valencia?
oh yeah…and poor Pep! He looked like he was in serious pain during the game. I've been where he is so I can totally sympathize. ={
lol, I agree with you. If there ever is a time to be happy for Chelsea it is now. But only now.
That Nani annoys the crap out of me
ME TOO! Can't stand him. Or Rooney. Or ManU. Or 95% of the players on Chelsea for that matter. But Arsenal needs all the help it can get so, thanks Chelsea!
Lol, THIS^^ That's precisely how I feel.
I can't stand Rooney or Nani either. But was happy to see that Chicharito got to play…just wish it was Rooney they left on the bench. I think Rooney & Gattuso need to take anger management classes together. = John Terry's another one..not sure why but as a footballer, I think he's great but as a person…meh.
SO TRUE!He's freaking annoying
I don't know how to feel about that Fernando short-tent. Two months ago, I would have been all over it. Now… I want to hate his short tent, but I don't think that I fully can.
It's impossible to hate short tents, period.
Btw, does anyone else ever wonder what the players think when they see 12348723984 pics of their short tent action on the internet/instant replays/magazines? I mean, I don't doubt that everyone knows its a completely natural (and totally gratifying for us voyeurs) physiological response to excessive physical activity, but I think if my headlights showed up everywhere I'd be like "Well, sh*t, that's awkward."
Oh, also, David Luiz's goal was almost as awesome as his hair….almost. ;p
my friends and I were just saying yesterday-David Luiz= Sideshow Bob from "The Simpsons"
)))
Hahaha, I follow LadyArse on Twitter, and she made the "Sideshow Bob" reference during the game, too, lol! It's so perfect!
He's amazing, not just the hair but he's a freaking brilliant defender as well! I now completely understand the comparison to Puyi.
i agree with you i am SUCKER for players in defensive psotions (Ramos, Pique, Joe Hart, Iker…you get the idea)
To answer your question Kickette, No the midweek result was not good for me.
I'm really surprised there hasn't been more on David Luiz in Kickette. He is so hot!
Yesterday…What a wonderful day was for me yesterday! My beloved Chelsea won and that' all. First I took my revenge on my United's brother (I also hope that you Irish Blue took you revenge on your boyfriend). Second I finally slept with the smile on my lips. There was a magic Lamps yesterday in the blue sky and see them won was fantastic and I also have to say that I cried a little. The world seems too fantastic also the day after. This match was epic, David Luiz was epic, Lampsy was epic and however all the team. And still now it's too sweet for me thinking about Lampsy's smile after the goal that was too sweet and thinking about me that yesterday, as usually, I slept with the Blues's t-shirt with Lampsy face on. Well done guys! So i want to give you a bonus track about the short-tent that were yesterday on the pitch. Enjoy it http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/M6i4aHJ3s4r/Chelse…
Also I see Gary Neville at the Bridge yesterday, he was really angry
Yay! Go us! There was a lot of evil-eyes and bitchfaces being thrown back and forth between me and him last night haha! He tried to make me kiss the badge on his jersey, not cool man, not cool….ha
Well done girl!
…There's only badge and this is Chelsea's badge!
Meep. Yesterday's defeat hurt SO bad :'( United actually played well but man oh man the decisions made by the official! Oh shucks. Got another almighty game coming up on sunday and our captain robot-Vida wont be playing..
Ayayay, well gotta dust myself and move on.. preferably by stalking some players.
Finally a bit of grit and determination from the boys. I have accepted the fact that we are not going to retain our title this year without some sort of divine intervention, but beating Man Utd always feels soooo good……Saying that, we were extremely lucky, it was a very soft penalty and if David Luiz had gotten sent off in the preceding few minutes, the game may have had a very different outsome. So yes we won, I'm thrilled and wanna get number 4 on my next blue jersey but I absolutely understand Man United fan's frustrations over the questionable refereeing. But at the same time, Rooney should not have been on the pitch to begin with, there is a line you shouldn't cross and he crossed it with his elbow last week. But hey such is life, it's a well needed three points so we just need to keep the head down and work harder from now on.
And the hottest Serb award goes to?….Vidic all the way….(sorry Branislav!)
I agree with what you said about Rooney. What he did was awful, he was EXTREMELY lucky to get away with that elbow..
And defo thumbs up to your nomination for hottest Serb award (Y)
Branislav Ivanovic is the definition of pure, manly sexiness
