Midweek Results: Joy, Heartbreak & Retinal Shock

Adil Rami ‘fights’ for the ball with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Edin Dzeko.

Yup, it’s gone on forever. But last night, the final round of games in the group qualification stages of Euro 2012 were played. Hopes were crushed. Hearts soared. And Andriy Arshavin took his shirt off.

All were great to watch. Except maybe the last thing.

Spain 3-1 Scotland

Spain played so darn beautifully last night it’s seems like a fail that David Silva didn’t score a hat-trick and the result wasn’t in double figures. Congratulations to Scotland for containing those hot messes. Image: JOSE JORDAN/AFP/Getty Images.

Italy 3-0 Northern Ireland

Underneath that crap hair, you actually quite hot, aren’t you Pablo Daniel Osvaldo? Image: Claudio Villa/Getty Images Europe.

Denmark 2-1 Portugal

We’re sure there are some gorgeous hip dips there. It’s just finding the damn things. Image: Paul Gilham/Getty Images Europe.

France 1-1 Bosnia-Herzegovina

Ok, so we can deal with booty. We can deal with shelf-booty. But we’re unsure whether we’re quite ready for the kind of  ‘Renault Megane’ booty Yann M’Vila is bringin’ to the yard. Jamie McDonald/Getty Images Europe.

Slovenia 1-0 Serbia

It’s scant consolation for failing to qualify, but we like to think this tender touch was of some comfort to Marko Pantelic (l) and Nenad Tomovic of Serbia. Image: REUTERS/Anton Golubev.

Russia 6-0 Andorra

And finally, a timely reminder for all you sports fans. Not everything lurking beneath a football shirt is like this. We spoil you. Image: REUTERS/Anton Golubev.

Sorry. But you needed to know that.

    Um…Wales won…Just throwing it out there….Seems no coverage…..

  2. Agnes Wonka says:

Denmark-Portugal was such an amazing match! I didn't know if I wanted to watch Nick Bendtner (who I haven't seen in this site since long ago) or to watch CR!
where is Germany? they did great!

I like that you Kickettes haven't talked about Argentina's awful lost and how Messi was a dissapointment!

  3. Ella says:

Congrats to Denmark (Bendnter <3) and Sweden :D But I feel sorry for Portugal and Bosnia, but of them deserved to win :/ Good luck to everyone in playoffs :)

  4. [...] Rami a fait un sale match mais là c’est le pompon. [...]

  5. Gen says:

Kickette!!! I'm shocked that you don't have pics of Maldini & Cannavaro receiving their awards before kickoff…come on ladies…focus!!!

  6. Annika says:

No Germany?? You seriously need to give those boys more credit.
Just for the record, THEY WON. Completing a perfect qualification with 10 out of 10 wins.

  7. Gladys says:

Given all the money you paid him, Kickette, I really hope Rami reports promptly on what he discovered.

After their loss to Greece loss, I'm relieved that Croatia still has a fighting chance. Congrats to Sweden. Sadface for the US, though I was happy for the earlier win. And what can you say about Spain except…damn, that darling David Silva…I just want to take him home in a bag and watch him score goals all day!

  8. McRed says:

BBC Scotland had Mikel Arteta in the studio for the Spain v Scotland match. OMG…that hair… those eyes… the oh-so-sexaaay spanish-with-a-hint-of-scouse accent!

    Be still my beating heart!!!!

  9. Sarah, Madrid says:

Espana! I love that Silva scored, aaaa VDB who to start now! I dont envy you mister, I don't! What about the kid, Jordi a-mazing!!, for a debut assist too

I saw game of Argentine a bit! my poor Pipa! But Venz was amazing from what I saw, Poor cris, ( Loved his FK!), Marcelo :) happy for him, Ozil Golazo!

Anyway, it was a good international break, I am still sad for my chori, he was getting back, :(

  10. JPatanio says:

Osvaldo needs the hair….keeps him looking dirty and rugged ( if you like that sort of thing ; D )

  11. ArsenalFiesta says:

Lol at rami!! The first thing that came to my head was that movie wedding crashers!

  12. lone says:

kkkkkkkkkkkk Dzeko coitadinho !! Very photos Germany ?

  13. Carolina says:

US lost to Ecuador :( .

  14. PepaCandela says:

Santi Cazorla on Kickette TWICE in a week? Do my eyes deceive me? Keep it up, ladies!

    • blitzenTO says:

IKR? Not the usual sort of man that shows up in here! But what he lacks in physical beauty is more than made up for by his brilliant personality. He is a drop of liquid sunshine rolled up in a delicious rainbow candy coating, topped with a smile that could drop a unicorn in its tracks. In other words, he is Santi Claus. :) ))))))

      • Gladys says:

Brilliant description!!!! Love love love Santi.

      • PepaCandela says:

He looks like a muppet, but you can't help but love him. My favorite non-Barca player in the Liga by a mile. It's such a shame he couldn't be at the WC2010.

    • Sarah, Madrid says:

Cazorla deserves all the love we can give!!

  15. lydia says:

What, no Germany? My boys need some credit! :)

  16. justme says:

rami, wow!?expecting a really sizzling euro next summer..with more best moments(lol) and fantastic games..good luck for all!!

  17. Pam says:

Davids rule! Silva's brace and Villa's goal were a thing of beauty! And Villa, what a phenomenal strike rate! 50 goals off of 80 games! It was great that he got to wear captain's armband when Xavi was subbed out!

It was a shame that Scotland had the misfortune of meeting the World Champions when their qualification was on the line :-(

  18. Kat22 says:

David Silva is such an amazing player! For Spain and Man City. I love seeing him whizzing all over the pitch. He deserved a hattrick last night.

Commiserations to Scotland. They didn't give up and fought well.

  19. Mrs. Q.Borri says:

Oh Rami.. Im speechless! But thank God you guys qualified! Yay for you!! Oh M'Vila we didnt know that about you all 'that' down there. Wow! lol.

Congrats to all the teams who made it, wish you all luck and may the best team win!! :)

  20. Zahara says:

GOD i love spain…love love love love loveeee

  21. Kristina says:

What?! No reports on Sweden? Then I'll give you one: THEY WON!!! and the QUALIFIED! Plus they looked gorgeous! I'm still in a happy daze. They were awesome, fabulous and …fantastic! I have seldom seen such a team effort. Not one of the players had a bad night, and they fought like lions. They beat Holland! Without Zlatan! And they did it beautifully. Kim Källströms free kick just blew me away. I have to stop now and catch my breath.

And yay Spain! And sad face for those who are out.

  22. elsebethynwa says:

Oh how I love my Danish lads. Every single one of them:-)

  23. AC_USA says:

We see what you are doing Rami. We see it all :) BTW I am absolutley heart broken. My Bosnia played an amazing game and so deserved to win. And the penalty-yes the ref gave penalty instead of free kick because it foul happened outside of the box- was harsh call. Good luck to Bosnia and everyone else in the extra playoffs. I really hope we finally make it.

  24. Sergz says:

I thought that you guys would post a pic from the big manpile that Sweden created right after the final whistle. That was a lot of manlove to behold. :)

    • Kristina says:

Lol! That was a small hill of delicious men, actually :) . I'm happy for Toivonen. Heja Värmland!
