MLS Cup Final: LA Galaxy Crowned Champions

Congrats to the Los Angeles Galaxy who beat the Houston Dynamo 1-0 on Sunday to claim their first MLS Championship since 2005.

The winning goal came in the 72nd minute when Robbie Keane slipped a pass to Landon Donovan, who then chipped the ball into the back of the net. Despite the rain, the Home Depot Center was filled to the brim with ridiculously excited supporters, including the odd Kickette staffer.

MLS Cup final champions LA Galaxy husband RobbieOther major showbiz peeps in attendance included George Lopez, Eva Longoria (left), Zac Efron and Beck’s bestie Gordon Ramsey.

During the presser, Becks played it coy when it came to answering questions about his future at the club but had no problem saying (about fives times no less) that he was “really going to enjoy tonight.” The celebrating had already started in the locker room (with video footage), but while it was high on happiness it was terribly short on nekkidness.

What gives? We expect more from our champions. They should know that.

So unbelievably happy for my Galaxy. And LD – who scored the winning goal. (P.S. Kickette – that photo of Landon and Bruce is from the Western conference final, not the MLS Cup).

It's nice to see the actual best team of the season crowned for once.

And here's to hoping for a TREBLE! CCL action starting in March!!!!!! YEEHAW!

MLS has made a nice video capsule of the match. Post-match beer chugging from the cup included – http://wp.me/pL6jh-7nn

I was just having a conversation with someone yesterday about how American sports don't really get the "nekkid" thing, like Europe (esp). Our (US) FOX Soccer Channel *never* shows the post-match jersey swap (aaaaarrrrrrrghhhhh) but GOLTV (owned by an international) always does (yyyyaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy). On behalf of the US, perhaps I best apologize for this to the Kickette nation, maybe one day they'll catch on. Meanwhile I catch as many matches on international TV as I possibly can!
