MLS Results: Moving, But Not Very Far

David Estrada was voted MLS Player of the Week for his hat-trick vs. Toronto. This is not why we chose this photo to lead our final MLS Results post, though. AP Photo/Ted S. Warren.

We’re having a spring clean at Kickette HQ, so starting next week, our MLS Results will be incorporated into the Monday Weekend Results post.

We tell you this so you don’t go emailin’ our harrassed admin dept in protest of our failure to live up to our billing. They’re basically the people who keep us organised, so you can imagine how much crap they have to deal with already.

Sporting Kansas City 3-0 New England Revolution

Generally we prefer it when players go for shirt-biting to express frustration and pain. But facepalming with Benny Feilhaber works too. Image: Ed Zurga/Getty Images North America.

LA Galaxy 3-1 DC United

David Beckham’s hair is still causing us concern. But we’re rather distracted by his bottom at the mo, so we’ll leave it alone. Image via Getty Images.

Philadelphia Union 1-2 Colorado Rapids

Mmm, Drew Moor (l). Danny Mwanga, you’re automatically excluded from competition due to excessive base layer abuse. Image: Drew Hallowell/Getty Images North America.

Montreal Impact 1-1 Chicago Fire

Major League Soccer has hit Montreal, people. See anything you like in the shop window? Image: Richard Wolowicz/Getty Images North America.

Real Salt Lake 2-0 NY Red Bulls

Aww. Fabian Espindola’s lady love is expecting a baby and this was his tribute to her during his goal celebration. Hopefully she’s not as preggo as he is in this pic. Image: George Frey/Getty Images North America.

I will be watching Montreal – obviously for Donovan Ricketts and secondly for Justin Braun. Also, can we talk about that attendance? Nearly 60k was it? Pretty impressive if that was the case…

Also, glad to see the Galaxy doing good again…I want more cartwheels from Keane next game.

Final tally was 58, 912 … which is going to mean that tickets will be impossible to get once they make the move to the Stade Saputo. Capacity there is only 20, 000, apparently.

Sad that my LA were tossed from the CCL (still bummed), but happy that the ship was righted this past week. Phew. I can put the panic button down.

Thanks Kickette for continuing to cover MLS. Hope you saw the TV ratings growing – still small, but growing – and the Canadian attendance this week. Our not-so-little-anymore league is here to stay and continues to surprise and delight. Good stuff.

What, no mention of Real Salt Lake shutting out the New York Red Bulls on Saturday 2-0? NYRB's Thierry Henry had a pretty sick bicycle kick! And RSL's Fabian Espindola celebrated a goal by stuffing a ball under his shirt pregnant belly-style and running to the stands to blow the wifey a kiss. Awwwww…
