Oh, Falcao. Just when we had forgotten you existed, you return to our minds like a bat outta bin liners. We’ve missed you and your abs, mate. May our paths cross again soon.

Love this man! I was so proud of Atletico. My allegiances were torn since CFC is my EPL team. But I get so tired of all the La Liga two-horse race criticism that it's great to see a team besides RM and Barca earn a trophy. Sad to think though that this only means their top players will leave for richer shores next season, with Falcao, given his fee, likely going to a team that already has an embarrassment of riches.

I agree about the two-horse race comments. They act as if there really aren't any quality teams/players in La Liga outside of Barca & Madrid and yet when players like David Silva, Juan Mata, Santi & now Granero come to the EPL, they have an immediate impact on their new club.

The disparity in revenue sharing in La Liga certainly doesn't help the teams other than Madrid and Barca to get and/or keep good players. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Madrid but I also have a weak spot for the underdogs too. I wish they'd even up the apportionment more and give these other teams at least a chance to be competitive in La Liga.

I'm right there with you. Sid Lowe's Guardian column on Mallorca today made me appreciate yet another underdog team. And even up there in the top tier (after the big two) it kills me to watch Valencia, Atletico, Bilbao, Malaga, just to name a few, lose their top players. The whole TV rights issue is so unfair. I guess we just have to enjoy watching the talent develop before it leaves.

  5. He was a 1 man masterclass! unplayable! I watch and report on a lot of English and Spanish footy.

  6. IrishBlue says:

Hats off to the guy, he DESTROYED us. Actually they all played like absolute heros but it was all about him in the end.

We were outclassed and outplayed by this man and his team…..waaaa…..and here was me feeling all optimistic and hopeful for the season ahead….pick it up boys!

    • DebS says:

I know! Absolutely gutted at how he picked apart the defense.

This guy puts on a clinic when it comes to scoring goals. Obviously, his teammates have something to do with it but the way he finds the net is amazing!

      • April says:

Agreed with both of you, but if there was a team I was okay with beating us in our current fixture list, I suppose it was them. They played like they wanted it and they fully deserved it. Hats off to Falcao and Atletico!
