Monday Manpile: Liverpool
We’re back! And not a sweaty manpile too soon.
How are you doing, Kickettes? Please fill us in on your favourite moments from this weekend’s footy – we missed all of the EPL action whilst in transit. Were you frustrated or elated? Can anyone give us their take on Lampsy’s red card situ? Or whether the breaking news that Lucas Neill has trimmed his stubble and soul patch is worthy of mention? Did Cristiano remove his shirt after the Everton game? These are all important things we need to know.
Btw: how exciting is this title race and the relegation battle shaping up to be? Goodness.
Lots to catch up on today – we’re going to make a pint’s worth of triple strength lattes and get right on it.

You’re right Erin, my mistake, it was the commentator on the radio that shouted ‘Gerrard’s been booked for back chat. I can’t believe it, he’s going to be sent off…….oh no my mistake, he hasn’t been booked’. Stupid man.
As a diehard Chelsea Girl and a Carlo Cudicini devotee, the weekend kinda sucked (3 goals, Carlo, *disappointed frown*) AND I have much shame over how much I enjoyed that Liverpool manpile *gulp* When even the goalie runs the entire length of the pitch to climb on top…THAT is some quality man-love…
It feels so great to win! Game was deffenetly my high moment of the weekend!
The hurt and anger is still too deep. Not quite ready to talk about it yet.
i really miss you kickette!!! that is all.
will just say that it was a wonderful weekend! Pool deserved to win that game – and would have even if Lamps hadn’t been send off. Having Nando back in form is just what we needed – and he will show everyone that last season wasn’t a one-off!! Welcome back Kickette – hope you had a very nice and sunny vacation!
liverpool v chelsea.
what a load of wank. seriously. frankie should never have been sent off, it was no way a red when stevie g done the same thing but didnt get the ball earlier in the game.
fernando torres looked lolvely but it was still not enough to cheer me up, when my team had just ost 2-0 with two goals so near the end. theres no hope i tell you.
and whats with robbie keane back at spurs, he said liverpoolw as where his heart was, clearly it isnt if hes going to go back to spurs just to get more moeney… what is this world coming to ay?!
Oh Kickette, you were missed!
To get the nasty stuff out of the way, poor Frank… his look of bewilderment said it all. No way he deserved that red. Then, my look of bewildermen when Bosingwa straight up stomped Yossi off the field w/ his boot in the middle of his back and nothing was done. Make up call?
What concerns me is that our favorite cartoonist just tweeted to say that there is no action taken against Bosingwa by the FA. >:[
Oooooh manpile of delish! Pepe came all the way over to join, it was a beautiful thing Kickette. Put tears in my eyes… *sniffle*.
Oh, by the way, I hope you had a fabulous vacay, Kickette! Welcome back.
You're right Erin, my mistake, it was the commentator on the radio that shouted 'Gerrard's been booked for back chat. I can't believe it, he's going to be sent off…….oh no my mistake, he hasn't been booked'. Stupid man.
Welcome back, Kickette…don't we all wish we were under that manpile…sigh, sigh…2-0, i can't remember when was the last time i saw that scoreline for Liverpool…but ladies, i jumped like a crazy bitch when those goals went in…but, i disagree with the sending off of Lamps…not a red card at all…that should have gone to Bosingwa instead…btw, am sad to see Robbie Keane leave so soon…6 months is really too much, too soon…not everyone's a Nando…
was in the Kop, what a finale <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" />
shame there’s no picture of Torres’ celebration kickette, I have it but don’t know how to upload
And, yes, Cris did swap shirts after the Everton match.
i am soo with you on that one. *wishes I was Fabio* ohhh nando is sooooo fine!
It certainly wasn’t one of the glamour matches but the Villa-Wigan 0-0 draw was a cracker!
As for Frank’s card, I don’t think the challenge warranted a sending-off but it must’ve looked different from the ref’s perspective. I expect that one will be overturned upon appeal.
In that picture above, the manpile one, Kuyt really needs to get to a dentist and do a little bleaching….thats one scary smile.
As for Bosingwa, I didnt see the match but as a general rule of thumb when it comes to Iberians; we are mellllllow peeps and only strike when provoked…so what did the other guy do to earn the boot???
<img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" />
I am a Liverpool fan and agree that was no red card. Some very dodgey decisions from Mike Riley but we’ve been there before, he is shite. Would also like to wish Keane all the best for his return to WHL. Just don’t score against us on the last game of the season please! Will Berba be next to return?
Loving the manpile, cheers kickette
nice win from the reds! we deserved it, would have won with lampard still being on the pitch, he done nothing all game! I HATE MIKE RILEY!!! anybody else think he is the worst referee in the world????
Haha Mrs Carra, I think we all dislike Mike Riley. He was pure sh*te. I'm ecstatic that Pool won, and I think we still would have even with Lamps still on the pitch as he should have been. Eh, that's football and I'm sure it will be overturned. I was however very disappointed with the linesman that was standing right effing next to Yossi when Bosingwa (and what is up with the unibrow, is he ever going to get rid of it?) put a boot in his back. Completely ridiculous. Anyway, it was an exhilarating game even if it wasn't a particularly skilled display. And that manpile was beyond amazing. Pepe ran all the way down to jump in on the love. *sigh*
The FA doing nothing about Bosingwa has just about ruined my day. I'm completely irrationally angry about it. Beyond ridiculous.
♥ this picture ♥ Pepe x
I saw the replays and I think the red card was an extremely unfair decision, Lampard had already won the ball when Alonso slid in. I expect the FA to rescind the red card tomorrow. Was extremely miserable with the result as expected, but mmm Nando did look delectable…
Cris very kindly took his shirt off after the Everton match, and our beloved Dreamgirl was there in person to see it, lucky duck! I'm not too concerned about the season. One match at a time, as Fergie said on Friday. Some of our key boys are coming back to fitness and we have a record-breaking defence that is the envy of any team in the world. Chelsea and Liverpool failed to capitalize at Christmas and that may be their undoing. Who knows? Many a slip betwixt cup and lip, as the saying goes. A deserved victory for Liverpool yesterday but not an impressive or defining one, considering that Liverpool battled for much of the match to break down a 10 man Chelsea, However, Torres looked fantastic as he returns to form. The card that was, and the one that wasn't and should have been? That's unfair and that's football. *shrug* Every team comes out on the end of bad decisions once in a while. I don't feel bad for Chelsea though, I'm afraid, as they were very poor and need an overhaul of their squad. Fergie was bang on last summer when he said they were a squad that had peaked already. And people scoffed at him at the time.
Liverpool! it feels great to win.and I really don't think Lamps should have gotten the red card. srly that was too much.
P.S: I juse spotted Arby's head getting wuished between Pepe and Fabio! Sweet! *goes all mushy*
the refereeing was so shite it hurt. yes, agree Liverpool is wonderful and all, but i'm starting to get frustrated at how easy is to be Gerrard and get away with everything. he did a similar tackle just seconds before Lampard got sent off. Bosingwa's frustrated kick was a straight red though
Im so happy Liverpool won overall we were the better team and Torres' goals were incredible! Lamps didnt deserve to be sent off.
Gerrard was booked yesterday for back chat, he doesn't get away with everything. Mike Riley made many terrible mistakes yesterday for both sides.Xabi has 5 yellows now too and will miss the Pompey game
Boooo!!
Finally a very good win for Liverpool
Nando's celebration was so cute and the man pile was awesome! Lamps should not have been sent off, but I don't think it affected the result. Bosingwa made a ridiculous 'tackle' on Benayoun however and definitly should have been red carded. Ken-Ron very kindy braved the freeezing cold weather to show us the whole thing… …and yes this years top and bottom parts of the table is getting very exciting, nice to be involved in it for once too
Oh and Aurelio has shaved his head and is back on my radar. Yumm!
A good weekend and a big win for us! Marred by some sh*te refereeing, unfortunately (But that happens, as someone referenced last year's same fixture where Chelsea benefited from some sh*te refereeing in their favor to take an undeserved point.) Lampard shouldn't have been sent off. I imagine Bosingwa may yet have some action taken retroactively for what was a completely absurd move. Gerrard was actually booked for diving, which I don't like to see but it definitely appeared to be the case. All that said, Liverpool deserved the win and I think would have pulled it out even with 11 men on the other side. They had the majority of chances before that and it was only a matter of time. Not a virtuoso display by our boys, but it was a level of intensity and heart and desire that they haven't shown in a couple of weeks, so I hope this is a turning point. One match at a time.
HOT MANPILE, btw. (If we remove Dirk, that is. Sorry, Dirk. I love ya man, but hot, you ain't!
VIVA LIVERPOOL! What a brilliant game! Liverpool had it won from the beginning, sorry Chelsea fans. Although, I do agree that Lampard’s red was very harsh – a yellow would have sufficed. But the highlight of the game? Easy: Nandito’s two goals to bring him back to top form. Did you see that header? Beautiful. And the second goal? Great timing on his run. He’s officially back. That game was the beginning of Liverpool’s rise back to the top.
Glad to have you back kickette. I’m feeling sooooo happy cos my ‘pool boys won. Lamps was unfortunate to be sent off but that’s karma biting them on the ass for last years penalty that should never have been.Bosingwa was very lucky to be still on the pitch at the end- not even a yellow card for it (shakes head in disgust.
Good to have you back,Kickette:)
Great week end . United won again and our injury worries are fast disppearing.
Frank should not have been sent off however Bosingwa should have. Cristiano took his shirt off which was very good of him and I don’t have an opinion on Lucas Neill.
Liverpool! Yes! What a game, definately the highlight of my weekend of football! Lamps’ red card….wasn’t. Hate to admit it but he didn’t deserve to be sent off but whether he had stayed on or not wouldn’t have made a difference, Chelsea were poor by anyones standards yesterday. Cristiano DID remove his shirt after the Everton match and I died a little! Or a lot! Phwoar……*goes off into happy dream land* Side note: Has anyone else realised how close Fabio Aurelio is to literally shagging Nando on the pitch?! There was a hell of a lot of testosterone on the pitch at Anfield last night! *wishes I was Fabio* Sorry Malin!
My favorite part of the weekend was Manchester United going 2 points clear with a game in hand.
Gerrard was booked yesterday for back chat, he doesn’t get away with everything. Mike Riley made many terrible mistakes yesterday for both sides.
Xabi has 5 yellows now too and will miss the Pompey game

Yay, Kickette is back! Hope you all had an ace vacay.
As a Chelsea girl, its no secret that I’m absolutely aggravated. I’m not going to bother putting my two cents into the Lamps situ because my opinion will upset someone (one for team loyalties, two for me having no mental filter) and thats the last thing I want to do.
However, Real Madrid’s game was quite fabulous, so… that boost my spirits a tad.
