Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin are officially husband and wife. Congratulations to them and their money.
The civil ceremony for their marriage took place this morning, with just eight family members present, no rings exchanged, and Coleen in this pretty, rather understated dress (by WAG standards). The real blow out is the blessing ceremony (with the Marchesa gown and the fireworks and the etcs), which takes place later on.
Confused? As are we. It’s basically a never-ending money-blazing extravaganza of nouveau riche chavtastic proportions. Alas, the weather was quite shite and it rained buckets. Damn the skies and their inability to be paid off.
Other footie guests spotted at the masked ball event last night: Michael and Lisa Carrick.
Strangely absent from the entire precedings: Steven and Alex Gerrard, who have flown out to Miami. Le snub? Say it isn’t so, Alex?
Lest we forget, Col hired a helicopter to make it to the Curran-Gerrard ceremony everyone else’s wedding but Alex’s last year. Perhaps the snub is not so undeserved.

I like how understated her dress is especially since I was expecting something a lot more crazy. Can’t wait to see her other gown and the pictures from the blessing ceremony later. I’m surprised that the Gerrards didn’t go to the wedding or perhaps they were left off the guest list along with most of the family members too.

Congrats – her being able to look at Wayne and hold in a giggle AND her lunch makes her a much stronger woman than I. I tend to let both out when I see a picture of him.

Great job, Kickette, on getting the first photo. I’ve been pouring through the media websites, and no one has this shot yet. Yes, her look is a little understated, but pretty. And Roo apparently wore a brown suit with no tie. (WTF!?) I love the masked ball idea. So cool! And so un-Rooney! Can’t wait for the pics from the BIG ceremony.

im not actually suprised they didnt go, alex wouldnt want to go somewhere where she isnt the centre of attention. im sorry if that sounds nasty but its true and she knew that if they made a fuss of not going, they would get attention

I’ve never been a huge fan of Coleen’s, but I think she looks absolutely lovely in this dress. Glad to see that she managed to tone it all down and look classy and gorgeous on the first of her two wedding days. Congratulations to Wazza and Mrs Wazza.
Woo Hoo, Colleen! No bouffant! I knew you could do it for me sweetie. But, you’ve got the whole other ceremony where they will be taking the OK pics. Stay strong (and away from all rat tail combs)! Congrats to the Rooney’s. I hope the Marchesa is as tasteful as this number (off the top of my head, don’t think I’ve seen a tacky Marchesa dress, so fingers crossed).

Me too, TFO, I have also been furiously bashing away trying to see the first pics. Pity about the rain but I heard a local say on the news that in that part of Italy they believe a wet bride is a lucky bride, or something like that. In fact it sounds dubious now I’ve thought about it so I guess the old guy just wanted his face in the paps and on the telly, lol! I’m not surprised Alex has gone away, I doubt she wants to see or hear anything about this wedding that will steal her thunder. As for her not being there? Would you want Big Bird on your wedding pics?

Alex and Stevie weren’t invited to the wedding, Alex said so in OK! magazine a little while ago..There was no bitterness there I don’t think, it’s just that the wedding was meant for their closest friends and I don’t know why everyone immediately assumes Alex and Coleen are best friends or whatever, they probably hardly ever even see eachother!
i love her first dress, super cute, chic and young….definitely my favorite WAG pre-dress…. weird about the gerrard’s, am a little upset though, i am set to go to miami in 2 weeks and i missed them! hoping alex with throw a fit and will stay a bit longer so i can catch a look at that amazon woman.
