Neymar: Cross, Cover, Conflict

crucified starlet brazil footballer player hair faux hawk

First spotted on Yahoo’s Dirty Tackle.

The editors of PLACAR are worried that Neymar is being unfairly singled out and accused of diving in a sport where virtually everyone plays dirty and have done the only sensible thing a team of creatives could do: nail the 20-year-old player to the cross ala Jesus. Ironically enough, if you want to read more about the mag’s latest controversial issue, look no further than eBay.

Do you find this photo in poor taste, dear readers? Or are you barely bothered by what some say is an obvious publicity stunt?

It's idiotic. To echo many, I'm not religious so it doesn't bug me that someone wanted to recreate the image, but it's how and why they did it, that bugs me. By the way, is he really singled out for diving all that much? I've honestly never heard much about it, although granted I don't live in Brazil. Anyway, this kid needs a new team of reps/people/whatever.

Considering Brazil have Christ the Redeemer looking out over Rio De Janerio as a guardian, I don't think that this magazine could've gotten it any more wrong.

I'm not religious, I don't even have a specific religion but doing something like this is purely idiotic and distasteful to the extreme.

To echo other readers… distasteful indeed.

    well there is that then…

As I'm not religious I don't mind the image per se. But, I'm not ignorant of the symbolism and therefore I think they're overdoing it. Big time.

They're right in one thing though. There are more divers than non-divers in football today. To single one out is simply meaningless.

I'm not really a religious person, but I agree with the other comments. It's distasteful and very inappropriate. But I suppose they have achieved their objective, because people are talking about it.

I find it very sacrilegious. Dislike.

    Oh. wow.

He needs to find people who are looking for *his* best interests instead those who are looking to milking a cash cow.
