Nicola Carragher: Supporting Her Man
In these times of perpetual ass-clown behaviour (by England footballers in particular), we would like to take a moment to honour a pairing that to date, have managed to neatly side step a skank-related scandal in the Sunday tabloids.
Above you will see Nicola Carragher supporting hubby Jamie at his testimonial game against boyhood club Everton, held at Anfield last Saturday. Liverpool won the game (which featured cameo appearances by Michael Owen, Luis Garcia and Steven ‘I’m knackered from the England game last night, so just ten minutes, please’ Gerrard) 4-1, with Carra scoring from the penalty spot for both teams.
Childhood sweetheart Nicola and kidlings James & Mia watched Daddy from the stands. Meanwhile, the debate rages on in the Kickette office as to whether the Carraghers’ are the exception to the rule of EPL skankocity, or merely represent what a marriage is meant to be. It’s only right you voice your opinion, Kickette’s.
In the meantime, thank you Jamie & Nicola. You have (at least until the next scandal breaks) restored our faith.
i hope theres never any scandal with them! they just seem so down toearth like what marriage is supposed to be

The Jamie and Nicola Carragher are right up there with Michael and Louise Owen as the antithesis couples for the Spotlight-hogging/Skankocity trend that modern footballers and their WAGs have been getting entangled into. No surprise there as the lads are best mates, despite the football rivalry.
Nicola looks gorgeous and elegant. In the picture she looks like Emily Blunt. Well… Men will be men. It’s their nature. Hopefully with this scandal, they will have a lil bit of angel’s side instead of the devil’s one. (But I don’t think they will) .. :”(
I’m LOVING this new series of showing the good faithful footballers some love! How about giving Owen a post. He was said to be horrified by Rooney’s behavior and has always been seen as a good guy! Rebecca Loos even said he was faithful to his wife and we all know she’s not exactly one to keep secrets quite!
Nicola looks beautiful and the testimonial was so special and deserved for Jamie. I cracked right up when he took the penalty for Everton. Kudos to the Toffees for taking part like good sports.
No one is perfect, but when we can’t learn from our mistakes then we can’t expect to be repeatedly forgiven.
She’s a gorgeous lady and I really, pray-to-God hope that Jamie is a real man; a good, family man. He seems to be. I don’t care about rumours about his past cause we’re all young and do stupid, crazy things then. look superhuman should-be-Sir Ryan Giggs, he’s perfect and wonderful but he had his fun when he was younger. i miss these golden oldies. they are the true role models of football, not these ‘APPARENTLY’ slaggy Rooneys, Terrys and the like. Giggs, Carragher, Scholes… dignified, classy, legends. I would include Gerrard but im kinda biased cause a) i hate liverpool, b) there’s always ‘rumours’ about him though nothing actually come out or proven so it’s probably rubbish and c) i don’t consider him a good role model after he punched a bloke incase said bloke threw a punch at him. LOL loved his excuse though, pretty legendary in itself.
I do like this couple, I feel like Jamie had his fun (which he'll admit) and then settled down like most NORMAL men do! He says in his autobiography he partied like most 20 year old's then had kids and grew up! The fact that he isn't in the papers is a good sign. I have a suspicion that when papers have footballers and their wives in the news often they have to be hearing rumors about them! Rio for example was in the paper a lot before his affair came out as were Rooney, and Terry! However, there are a lot of ridiculous rumors like that Gerrard got a 16 year old pregnant! That rumor was on the internet and The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Independent, and Guardian all ran stories saying it wasn't true after they found out! Three of the England internationals have injunctions though and I hear two are from Liverpool! That leaves Carragher (unlikely/not international anymore) Gerrard (possible, not the rumors on internet) Johnson (possible) and Joe Cole (possible/unlikely). Everyone on Liverpool forums and football forums seems to say Johnson is the one! IS HE EVEN MARRIED OR HAS KIDS? If not that would have to be one SEEDY scandal for him to get an injunction!

Congratulations to Jamie for the testimonial. It’s a fine honour. I do have to add though, that anyone who was following football in the ’90s knows that he was in the tabloids on occasion for the wrong reasons, so let’s not dust off a halo quite yet.

There was plenty of money in football in the '90s, because it was the beginning of the Sky era. Just as an example, Roy Keane, 1993, 3.75 million quid from Nottingham Forest to Manchester United, breaks all time English transfer fee record. Signs record 2 million quid Diadora boot deal in mid-90s. Biggest football sponsorship deal to that date. Don't kid yourself that there was no money in football in the '90s. '70s yes, '80s maybe.

I always think the worse until proven innocent. I’m the “just because no scandal has broke doesn’t mean he isn’t out there cheating” kind of person. It would not surprise me. I will be happy if he isn’t out cheating but with athletes I always assume they are

there was a story about carragher some stripper who turned up at the liverpool christmas bash like a long time ago during the houllier era and notw got dere reporter in took pictures and it came out as an exclusive but barring that he has been fairly scandal free
And he fully admits he did some stupid things when he was younger (he was 20 at that christmas party, and is 32 now). He's certainly no angel, but there is something to be said for recognizing bad youthful behavior and making changes in one's life. By all accounts he has been nothing but a good family man for many years now. Regardless, this is in praise of his testimonial (which raised £1 million for local charities), his service to football, and his sweet family.
am a liverpool fan am well aware of him and his career and the money he has raised for the charities through this weekend the gala dinner n the game . and i juss stated that it was way back n since then he has been scandal free

yeah thats true. He was 20 though and admitted it (it was before the kids and marriage)! He's always been very honest! He even said during the 2006 world cup some of the players were cheating on their wives while they were in the next room!
hate to break it to you but it was capello who told steven he could only play 10 minutes of the game! and they was only because there was a good england result the day before.

Oh, please don't. Our LFC boys are not all angels, and there is no moral high ground here. One of the super injunctions in place right now is rumored to be a Liverpool player, so please get off the soapbox.

Everton seem to be scandal free as do other clubs like Villa and Fullham.

Maybe so but it’s very interesting that it’s mainly the top 4 that are getting in to the most trouble … and there are over twenty teams in the EPL.
it is not that they are getting in the most trouble, just getting the most attention for it. Hell, Newcastle is a tabloid dream but they rarely get real coverage and only when it is either bizarre or blatantly idiotic

Not sure about recently, but I heard a few stories about 5 years ago that said he wasn't quite as dedicated to his wife as is made out! That was a long time ago though so hopefully he has turned over a new leaf by now!
I love Jamie and Nicola. Together forever, stay out of the spotlight, have two lovely kids, do lots of charity work, seem like a really wonderful little family. Well done, Carra!

lol see that girl checking out Jamie in the Caught Offside post top photo? I would have reacted the same way. I'm not really that into Jamie but from what I've read about him over the years he seems like a good family man. But then again these England footballers seem determined to prove our perceptions wrong. I hope for his kids sake he is not one of the super-injunctioners, I shudder to think who these people really are.
