Oktoberfest 2011: Chopped & Screwed
This year’s festivities featured an extremely limited supply of fit footballers who we’d gladly commit fashion faux pas with. Still, we were tickled to see Didier Drogba – who, just hours after Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Swansea on Sunday – put on his best lederhosen and mingle with fellow Oktoberfest-goers in Munich. He was joined by his mates, Steve Gohouri (Wigan) and Rui Alves (football agent). No word on whether or not Didier plans to recycle that outfit for his team’s own Oktoberfest celebration at Stamford Bridge this Thursday.
Jens Lehmann showed up too, but unfortunately for him, his attendance at the annual event violated current club Stuttgart’s rules. How innocently downing a perfectly good pint of lager results in one getting benched, we’ll never understand.
Even more frustrating was the lack of Bayern Munich boys, who were actually not permitted to grace the Guinness tents this year. They still did a fun photo shoot (back in August, our bad for missing) to promote the legendary beer festival, but their absence has definitely been noted by our carnivorous staffers.
