Omar Bravo: He Started It…

YouTube Preview Image

Please enjoy the above video of Sporting Kansas City player Omar Bravo, who, during his side’s fixture vs. Seattle Sounders at the weekend, instigated amusing scenes of mayhem and thespian collapse when his two footed tackle on Pat Noonan received a red card.

We won’t spoil the rest of it for you - suffice to say that the poor challenge was just the beginning for Omar, who, upon review of the footage, probably would agree that he should have left the pitch when instructed to do so by the referee.

It would’ve saved a lot of embarrassment, we feel.

It didn't look that bad from the angle I saw. He appeared to get the ball first. It was yellow-worthy for sure, but not a straight red. Of course, I was watching this game in KC, and listening to the KC commentary. I suspect there is bias either way.

This game plus the accidental ingestion of my nemesis, gin, made for an interesting evening. I was yelling about the game to anyone who would listen, pounding my fists against the bar. And I ended up helping a girl jump her car, while wearing my 4" heels. I think it's safe to say I was lucky not to get a red card that night!

Sometimes you can get the ball but if you go thru the man to get it, it's a foul. What made this a red is that he took out Noonan's standing leg. These types of tackles are what causes breaks like Aaron Lennon's. Definitely an extremely reckless challenge and hence the red.

    Horribly dangerous tackle!

That's Arlo White, the Sounders play-by-play announcer, on the call. We LOVE him!

My favorite is Levesque and Alonso following him off. <3 my boys

The end of this game was amazing! The sounders scored in the 90 and the 92nd minute to win the game.

    And i love the commentator.

    Shameful Omar, just shameful.

God I love the English commentators. "Omar Bravo has lost the plot"…"and frankly after that, good riddance!" :D
