Pato & Sthefany’s Divorce Proceedings Suspended

Speculation about the demise of their marriage is rife around Kickette HQ. Some believe it was Sthef’s poor force-feeding tactics that did her – and her possible divorce settlement – in.

Our new favourite feuding Brazilian couple is at it again – and it’s getting ugly. For a rehash of Act 1, check out the initial divorce announcement.

Act 2, Scene 1

- Please recall: Sthef was asking for a pension/allowance/alimony to help her re-settle in Brazil. Her lawyer confirmed that a €50,000 proposal was “one of many” offers her legal team submitted to Pato’s lawyers. Sthef was also claiming that she’s been out of work for 7 months AND her TV contracts have expired, leaving her jobless and without a telly set to put her mug on.

(Asking for money to “readjust” to the country you were born and grew up in? That’s a whole ‘lotta bish, please right there.)

- Nev mind, the whole “woe is money-less me” story didn’t last long. Like any WAG worth her salt, Sthef found herself being offered a new, famewhorish sense of income: selling her divorce story to a magazine. A source close to Sthef says she’s considering it but stalling because she “wanted to be sure” her words would not be taken out of context.

(We take this to mean she wanted to chose her words wisely so she doesn’t hurt her chances in court….and to possibly wait out other magazines’ offers.)

Act 2, Scene 2

- Fed up and wanting to dissolve the marriage quickly, it was reported that Pato changed his tune, deciding to consider the €50K per month for 1 year in spousal support – on the basis that Sthef fades into the abyss and never speaks ill of him (or their marriage again.)

- Pato also allegedly attempts to include a “no reconciliation” clause in their agreement, something unusual unless there are dinosaur-sized skeletons in the closet. We take this “report” with hesitation though, since it’s something we’ve never even heard of before.

- In a wild twist of tabloid tales, Sthefany is accused of hooking up with former AC Milan player, Diniz Marcus. Severely bothered by the gossip, his PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND was rushed to the hospital.

- Marcus and his father vehemently denied the claims, saying he’s never even met Sthefany; they threatened legal action against the Italian magazine that reported the rumour.

- Noticeably, Sthef stays shhh on this story.

- Information leaks suggesting Pato’s next legal move would be to accuse Sthefany of “deserting” their marriage.

Act 2, Scene 3

- Pato decides to go out with all guns’ blazin’, as his lawyers file an “act of incompetence” claiming that since Sthef’s current address is still in Italy, she must file her divorce decree there. The presiding judge agreed and suspends the Brazilian divorce proceedings.

- FYI, for those nosy nellies, the ruling stated that because this separation has been contested (by Sthefany, for money), she must make her claims in her current home country.

- Again, just a hunch, but this smart move by Pato’s lawyers leads us to believe Sthef’s chances at a bank-rolled future are less likely to come to fruition in Italy than if their divorce was settled in Brazil.

- To that, we’re sure Pato said: BOOYAH.

Does anyone have a solid reason why they should not be married? If it's just – correct me if I'm wrong Kickettes – he parties + she is homesick/unemployed, then one of those lawyers needs to stand up and say, "only we the lawyers will benefit from this breakup". Maybe I've seen too many "special reports" on celebrity marriages but I don't see why they are separating. I agree they were married very young but it just sounds like they are having personality disagreements. I don't know about you, but I have about 10 of those before lunch!

The ultra young age, Pato's crazy partying, and Stefny's (I imagine) homesickness does not make for a happy marriage but if they decide together to be grown ups and move forward then they I see that they could be a wonderful family. There are no reports – as far as I know, please correct me – of abuse and the infidelity rumors have been vacated. So what's the problem? Pride? They just don't want to compromise on the partying and distance from home? She could try to find work in Italy or he could party with her. Why can't they be a footie marriage success story?

  2. KatiGaray says:

HA!!!!! serves her right!! clearly she's blaming him for her stupid decisions, why give up your career if your prenup gives you zilch????

  3. Inés says:

    Stefany cannot have less dignity!

  4. Leah says:

    First of all

I am not taking sides as i do not like either,

but honestly "she had to move abroad and give up work"

did she? did someone force her? did she have to marry him?

    no!

it was her choice to marry and her choice to move.

    second,

Yes they are both brazilian, but they are currently living in italy and he is working in italy, you have to respect the country you are living in and follow their rules.

    Third,

she signed a pre-nup and agreed, i think it is very unfair of her to try and get around it. If she wanted money she should have given her terms before the marriage but she did not.

    Fourth,

if she really is considering selling the divorce story, i would lose respect for her as a woman, why do that for money? you were meant to be in love with him at one point?

As for him, no he is not blame less, it takes two to get married and two to get divorced, but whatever problems they had should remain between the two. Lets just be pleased these two didnt have kids!

    • D0li says:

These players only use looks to determine relationships; i'm not saying that all players do this, but most do which is why they have to go against the pre nup and pay off the wife so that she doens't go out and talk about the relationship. Maybe if Cristiano knew this, whatsherface wouldn't have told everyone about their relationship.

it's a sad situation because not only is he loosing his money, but they are both loosing their dignity and possibly their self respect.

I have never heard of these two until kickette reported the devorce. I hope they work this out quickly.

  6. C16 says:

  7. MissEstonia says:

And that’s why you don’t get married when you’re, like, 12.

    • juventina5 says:

      AMEN!

    • laz says:

or in footballers case, at least wait until they turn 30 as all they seem to do when married young is grow apart or cheat on their missus (ok there are a few exceptions, but the divorce rate with footballers has got to be higher than any national average by quite some %!)

    • Ms.Podolski says:

LOOOOOOL….It was strange that he put into the prenup agreement that she would not get anything he must have thought that it wouldn't last.

  8. Amy says:

    Sheesh. Enough with the fame-whoring.

  9. shay says:

When I read the headline I was hoping they had reconciled. :(

  10. Bria says:

team pato here!!…..suspicious steph is keeping quite on the cheating rumour…..i smell a rat in that one…..this is better than any soap i have seen though…..lbar at the BOOYAH bit at the end is ace!!!

  11. Andrea Nunes says:

Girls, each country has its own laws. So, it's not that easy to make comments and give your personal opinions on that.

In Brazil, we, women, are allowed to ask for an up to 3-year pension when its proven the woman has had to leave work because of her husband. Of course, there are other rules and procedures people from other countries wouldn't understand and know nothing about.

I say that because my sister passed through a divorce 2 years ago and everyone in our family, except for me & sis (who are journalists), is a lawyer.

As both Sthefany and Alexandre Pato are Brazilians, I'm pretty sure, even though they'll have to see each other faces in an Italian conciliation court (if there aren't any new changes), their citizenship will be considered. Besides, they got married in Brazil, not in Italy, and she has an address in her home country. Moreover, when everything's over in Italy and she's allowed to move back to her country, she can sue his stupid a*s whenever she feels like doing so.

Personally, I consider this a very cheap move from Pato's side. Especially because he's a footballer who comes from a foreign country. His now ex-wife is also Brazilian, raised there, worked on a regular basis there (until she had to move abroad because of him), has all her family & friends there, doesn't have an european passport which would allow her to legally work in the new country, etc, etc, etc.

She agreed to marry him after signing a pre-nup contract which was noticeably one-sided (Pato's, I mean). The least that sh*t head could do for the one he once loved so much was to help her out until she gets a new job contract with Rede Globo (one of the most important media groups in the world), which I believe she'll get really soon because she's not only talented but also a hard-working young woman in her field of work.

We often laugh at WAGs' faces and bitch about their lack of productivity in terms of work, but many of them are foreigners in the countries they're currently living in, they usually have to deal not only with their husbands but also with kids, (sometimes useless) employees (housekeepers/ nannies…), a new language, a completely different culture (including some nasty prejudicial people), totally different eating habits, the weather, no friends, no family around.

And if some of us think that women who stay home while their husbands work in companies, factories, industries or whatever don't deserve anything when the relationship ends, then we're simply not being fair to our mothers, grandmothers and all the women who came before them. My mother is not worthy less than my father just because he brought home the money. Now that I live alone and, besides earning my own money, I also have to clean the house, wash the dishes and clothes, take care of the pets, go grocery shopping and much more I see how hard the housewife life is. Much harder than working from 8 to 6.

About the ridiculous rumour of Sthefany cheating on Pato, it's just that: simply ridiculous. The toiletpaper that printed the story has already said it was A LIE and they found that out because the person interviewed who claimed to be Sthefany wasn't actually her. It's a disgrace for our profession to have people who consider themselves as journalists and write a story based on a phone conversation with someone whom you've never seen or talked to before.

    • miya says:

amen sista! i hope things work out for the best for her, she doesn't seem like the WAG type…

    • missbubbles says:

i totally agree whit what you said…sad that it has come to this but she is not only one to blame for divorce and to be honest, i dont think she asks for too much…depending on his wage at AC Milan…its not like she demands a lifelong alimentation…. also think she´s pretty ok girl

    • Ms.Podolski says:

Great points Andrea…I never thought of all that before…I wonder why she didn't ask for specific things when the prenup was presented. Or can she?

    • caitanya says:

They both sound a little young and dumb. I think he was wise to make her sign a pre-nup, esp with his salary. She agreed to sign the pre-nup, so, sorry, I definitely don't feel sorry for her in that department. But being left stranded financially is definitely not fun, so in that regard i feel bad for her. But she is still young enough to move back to brasil, marry some other hot, rich guy and/or get a job.

Actually, I have a hard time feeling sorry for either of them, that's what it boils down to. They shouldn't have gotten married so young. Whose decision was that?

  12. Alisha says:

Haha, I love the BOOYAH bit!!

  13. Thea says:

I've literally felt sick reading this story!

  14. senora ramos says:

DAMN! better than a soap! that is some drama-filled scripting there. all for them to get back together in a year or less. and then do it all over again. that said, team pato!

  15. D0li says:

I honestly think it's hush money, and he has some dirty secrets he doesn't want released to the public.
